If I hadn't dated an industrial/goth/drama club queen back in high school around '90, I'm probably in the same boat as jamny. I also came from a metal/punk background and might have missed that particular Cure song if not for her. Though even I had Disintegration before I met her and knew "Why Can't I Be You," etc.
I wanted to post Halo just for the gratuitous shots of Jenna Elfman in a bra top, but it missed by three months.
Wonderful song, but doesn't feel '80s.' May just be me and the fact that I connected with R.E.M. in the 90s.
That's what makes R.E.M. so great. Their 80s music was essentially timeless. Tough to do. Talking Heads and The Replacements pulled this off too.
Was never a big VH fan back in the day - but always loved that song. "Unchained" intro is pretty hard not to start rockin' as soon as it starts up. Started listening to more VH when I heard it as Jay Mohr's podcast intro. Really beginning to appreciate them more and more.
Nice. My son's first favorite song. Was singing it before he could talk. He used to go ape#### when he heard the intro.
