Seriously, they blanked the bed today, I just don't understand. everytime I think this is going to be their year they screw it up. They allow a rookie to throw for almost 300 yds, and Schaub tosses for 160, Slaton did nothing, AJ did nothing, Daniels was pretty quiet...what happened?

I think they were overconfident, and thrown off balance by Ryan's defensive schemes. I have a feeling they will rebound in a big way next week. Look for Slaton and AJ to have much better numbers (not that they could be worse!)

But in terms of non-fantasy, I just don't see this team going anywhere with Schaub as a QB. He does not impress me as a guy who can get it done.

What's to get? Houston has had some awesome drafts, it's time for them to come up in the ranks, it's really not FF but more NFL slant and they allow a rookie QB to march in and beat them today. That's what I don't get.

They were completly out coached today. Rex Ryan is a hell of a coach and has that defense playing at a high level.Again though the Texans will score a ton of points this season...today was just not their day. And it was week 1.

Besides being outcoached and showing a general lack of toughness, the Texans did not create any holes in the running game, failed to protect the QB, and missed numerous tackles. It was an all around pathetic performance. somebody said the Texans were overconfident. Disagree, they played with no sense of confidence, no swagger at all. I had flahbacks to the 2005 season.

I wouldn't mind buying low on those guys for the long haul, but:Hard to see them rebounding on the road next week where they traditionally blow, against a team that has owned them, coming off 10 days rest. Also hard to believe a historically slow-starting team that's never made the playoffs was overconfident.

Houston was not game plan prepared for what the Jets threw at them. First lesson.... double team Jenkins,or he will ruin your day. No center can handle him one on one. Schaub was heavilly pressured all day, and there didn't seem to be any half time adjustments. AJ was often doubled, and Walter being out hurt.

The Jets aren't that good, and the Texans aren't that bad. Thay had no regular season film to game plan against this Ryan defense. Ryan also got cute with some wrinkles... Lito Sheppard, the guy who kept getting burnt in the preseason did not get a starter's quota of snaps. That was a Ryan curve ball.

I did expect Houston to pressure Sanchez more, but they let him off the hook because they over prepared to stop the run... which they did effectively. They made the rookie beat them... and he did.

Hopefully this is just a case of...the JETS D is just that good this year.

As good as the Jets D looked against a good offense today, the Ravens looked almost as disappointing against a mediocre offense with its third string QB in the game. Tip your cap to Rex Ryan, at least for this week.

Yeah, Jets D deserves a huge amount of credit. They dominated the game.

I don't think I've seen Schaub be this inaccurate before. Even when he had time he frequently missed or threw behind receivers. Even apart from the pressure and that the Jets secondary was doing a great job in coverage, I thought he just plain played poorly.

Kudos to the Jets and their coaching staff for putting together a gem of a defensive game.

Yeah the jets def scheme was nice. Kept Schaub offbeat and throwing off the back feet all day. He made alot of horrible throws.

They had no sense of urgency at all....they did look like our 05 team on O. lol...damn.

But i will say this. Our D line and linebackers are very much improved. Cushin and Ryan are going to cause havok.

wow that season opener sucked. but i think the houston O will be fine. Rex Ryan did the same thing to the texans last year with Baltimore.

it's only week 1, they're sure to improve on yesterday's dreadful loss..remember too that Ryan wanted to make a splash in his NFL head coaching debut.he accomplished that task. He probably put ( much) more time and effort into this game, than the Houston coaching staff did..

I feel like they'd be getting a pass from a lot more people if this had happened against last year's Baltimore D in week 1. People haven't adjusted yet to the idea that the Jets have stolen the heart and mind of that D, and have plenty of talent of their own to make it work.

I think people are panicking about the fact that they have Texans already, when they ought to be panicking when they see the Jets coming up on their players' schedules instead. I don't they're going to be a legendary D, but they're going to cause some havoc.

An inauspicious start for sure, but from a FANTASY perspective, remember that last year Schaub threw for 202 yards and 2 INTs in Week One last year, while Owen Daniels was a virtual non factor. Don't panic (yet).

VERY As the year wears on, I think we're all going to realize, "Okay, most of it was just that the Jets D is THAT freaking improved". And Houston certainly played like Sh**. They didn't help their own cause. But the Texans won't be the last O that's left scratching their heads against that D.

The Jets have the best up the middle combo (Jenkins, Scott and Harris) in the league, a top 3 corner (revis) a big time safety (Rhodes) and a head coach that mastermined the best defense of the last 15 years. I didnt expect this type of performance without Pace, but the talent is there.

Teams will adjust as they see more and more tape on Ryan's schemes, but the Jets are going to be a big time defense. They've got 6 legitimate pro-bowl caliber players (the 5 mentioned above plus Pace)

Hell, even Gholston made some things happen yesterday. anything they get out of him is gravy.

It's a function of trying to create a fantasy team with no OL to protect Shoob who is pretty fragile.

I think they thought they could create a triplet type team, but that doesn't work if you can't hold blocks for a 3 count.

I watched the game as I didnt have much choice up here in MA. I thought it was the Jets DST that was shining through. It almost looked like the Hou OL/Offensive Coord didnt have an answer for the Defensive schemes. Also though, I was disappointed not seeing more field reversals to counteract the NYJ team speed. Overall I blame the Hou OC.

Outside of Slaton's fumble, I thought was was working hard for everything. The fumble was all on him, but he looked good catching the ball and in the open field. I might even say he is a buy in PPR leagues.

Ehh Ryan was against an 0-16 team at home and got drilled by the Bucs in his first road start. For a team looking to take the next step, that's a bad loss any way you slice it.

If Jenkins can stay healthy, this D has the potential to be dominating. You can see the difference in the D play calling right from the first Texan possession. 3rd and 12 and instead of rushing only 3 and 8 on coverage, Ryan put the pressure on Schaub. Great Marty Lyons reference!

Good point. I don't know if he would have been the difference between a win and loss, but he would have opened things up a bit. Not as many double teams on AJ, maybe some more room for Slaton...and better stats for Schaub?Will Walter be back in week 2?

Slaton might be a very good buy low candidate after week 2. If there are some over-reactive players in your league it might be a prime chance to snag him for cheap.
