Honestly has to be the biggest waste of 3 high picks ever. 2 36 Cleveland Browns Brian Robiskie WR 2 38 Cincinnati Bengals Rey Maualuga LB 2 50 Cleveland Browns Mohamed Massaquoi WR 2 52 Cleveland Browns David Veikune DE 2 53 Philadelphia Eagles LeSean McCoy RB Keep in mind that Maualuga was a guy being considered at 1.05 and their RB's the previous year were broken down Jamal Lewis (1002 yds, 3.6 ypc) pre-breakout Jerome Harrison (340 yds) and Jason Wright (70 yds). How do you pass on Shady McCoy for David ####ing Veikune?!?!?!?!?
McCoy dropped quite a bit in the draft since I remember him being considered a potential low 1st rounder before it started. Also, coming in he wasn't really considered an every down RB but more of a change of pace guy. He was 5'10" and under 200 pounds and wasn't considered much of a threat between the tackles.
True. On the other hand, David ####ing Veikune.
Don't forget, Mike Wallace went to the Steelers in the 3rd rd (3.83) in this draft too, whereas Robiskie has done nothing thus far, and Massaquoi has been a semi-disappointment.

Arizona - David DeCastro OG Stanford

Early for a guard, but his skills warrant it and the Cards need some better big bodies to enhance their running game.

Dallas - Devon Still DT Penn State

Jerry. Hire a GM. HTH.
Really hope you're wrong here - would love to see DeCastro in DallasRooting for you to be right regarding CLE taking Tannehill in round 2. As an Aggie I would absolutely love for Tanny to take McCoy's job

Too bad for him he hurt his foot and can't play in the Senior Bowl. A good performance there would obviously have boosted his stock.

With Peyton Hillis likely not coming back and injury issues with Hardesty, I can see Cleveland drafting Trent Richardson over Blackmon.

St. Louis will not bypass Ryan Kalil for Riley Reiff. Sam Bradford did get killed last year due to horrific protection. St. Louis has a RB who is a top-five back, both would benefit from Kalil. We know you are a Minnesota fan and that you would want Kalil and speaking as an AdP AND Ponder owner I would love to see it but I came to the hard realization awhile back that St. Louis will not trade out of their spot and move out of the top-four picks unless they get a ransom and they won't get that from Cleveland and they won't dish out of the top four picks because if they don't get their OLT they will get a stud #1 WR like Blackmon with the 4th pick assuming the obvious that RG III and Luck go with two of the other four picks assuring that either Kalil OR Blackmon will be available to them.
Well, okay Braciedamus.
Kalil won't make it past St. Louis. With the 2nd pick of the 2009 draft St. Louis drafted OLT Jason Smith Baylor and he hasn't panned out. The Ram realized their mistake and the very next year at the top of the second round they selected OLT Rodger Saffold Indiana. In 2010 they got Bradford and the protection fizzled around him last year. He got beat up.

If you are the St. Louis GM why trade away the opportunity to get the one guy in this draft that removes the struggles that your team has had protecting Bradford's blind side?
I might be wrong but both guys missed alot of time due to injury, Smith I've read was playing well at RT before injury, and Saffold was playing injured and misssed 8 games and parts of others due to injury. So it is there depth that is were they have problems. You don't pick #2 overall for a back-up. No way do they take Kalil.

Rams placed LT Rodger Saffold on injured reserve with a torn pectoral, ending his season.Saffold's year was ended by a weight-room mishap. One of the league's top rookie lineman in 2010, Saffold regressed badly this season, grading out as Pro Football Focus' fifth-worst left tackle through 10 weeks. He'll be replaced by journeyman G/T Mark LeVoir, who has made just three career starts in 38 games since entering the league in 2006. Already the victim of horrendous pass blocking for much of the season, things just got tougher for Sam Bradford. Nov 19 - 12:29 PM

2012 NFL Mock Draft

2. St. Louis - Matt Kalil, OT, USC

Even though the Rams have drafted tackles high the past couple years, there is doubt about Rodger Saffold holding down Sam Bradford's blind side over the long haul. Passing on a stud left tackle like Kalil would be hard to do at this spot, especially with value falling off at other spots after this pick.

Ryan Kalil is picked by St. Louis with the second pick in the majority of mocks from all accross the web.

Unfortunately for the Rams Saffold's play diminished last year prior to his injury after he entered with high praise as a rookie. Smith outright failed on the blind side. They still need an OLT and many are projecting Kalil going off the board with the second pick to the Rams.
Breaking news. The Rams may cut OLT Jason Smith.

Jason Smith faces the chopping block in St. Louis

Posted by Mike Florio on January 18, 2012, 9:32 AM EST

The Rams have had plenty of high picks in the past few years. Some have worked out, some did at first but then didn’t (but still could).

One has been a major disappointment.

Jason Smith, the second overall selection in the 2009 draft, has appeared in only 29 of 48 games. And when he has played, he hasn’t played in noteworthy fashion.

Drafted as a left tackle, Smith has landed on the right side. He soon will be landing on waivers, unless he agrees to a dramatic reduction in his salary.

Per a league source, Smith will face the time-honored take-a-pay-cut-or-take-a-hike ultimatum in the offseason, given that (per NFLPA records) Smith is due to earn a base salary of $10 million in 2012. With only $1 million of it guaranteed, the Rams won’t hesitate to dump Smith, if he won’t dump much of his scheduled pay.

In 2011, Smith received $8.5 million in base salary, as part of the windfall previously given to unproven players taken at the top of the draft.
I just don't see the Rams bypassing OLT Ryan Kalil with the second pick of the draft.

Since Smith was playing on the right side it probably depends more on how they feel about Saffold than Smith. But you're right. Kalil to St. Louis is a strong, strong possibility.
And you know that could be good news for the Vikings if rumors of Washington wantng RG III are correct. The Vikes are sitting pretty reguardless IMHO because I think Blackmon is a good fit and he would be available. The guy I thought they would be intereted, CB Dre Kirpatrick took a tumble with the pot bust. I figured that they need someone who can 'possibly' match up with WR Calvin Johnson of the Lions.Megatron at 6'5 destroys most corners so the 6'3 Kirpatrick would give 'some sort' of a chance so if they move down with the Skins they probably could still get Dre but if they want Blackmon then he would be there for the taking. I think Minnesota is in the driver's seat right now, that could change but right now they seem to be in a very good position.

So why not more talk about the Vikings trading with Washington or Cleveland? Maybe the 3rd pick is the one to aim for since St. Louis is definitely not taking a QB.

Agreed. Sometimes you're in "no win" land, others "can't lose". I think in this case the Vikings get better no matter which guy they take at 3 and are in great shape if they trade down.

That'll pick up steam as we get through free agency and closer to the draft. It's not really about what the Vikings or Rams want/need. It's what Washington and Cleveland are thinking each other might do.

I don't think the Rams pass on Kalil and the Redskins will bet that neither the Vikings or Browns want RG3.My first six picks:Colts - LuckRams - KalilVikings - BlackmonBrowns - ClaiborneBucs - RichardsonRedskins - RG3

That's reasonable. But if RG3 is there at Tampa's pick, you start seeing teams like Miami, KC, and Seattle possibly come into play.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Redskins give up something to the Bucs to prevent that and it would still allow the Bucs to get Richardson.

I would like, as a Rams fan, to not only trade with Cleveland or Washington (or Miami) but then trade down again with Cincinnati if Richardson is still available.

I have heard, and seen on the NFL draft trade chart that the Rams could recieve Washignton's 1st, and 2nd this year to go along wiht a 1st and 3rd next year. By moving back to #6 we could recieve (2)#1's this year from the Bengals and probaly a #2 or a #3 next year.

So if your with me

Stl trades the #2 overal

Rams recieve

Oak #1 this year, Cincy #1 this year washinnton #2 this year, washington #1 next year and perhaps cincy and washington's #2 or #3 next year

thats alot for a struggling franchise.

The rams have alot of holes but Jeffries or Floyd could be there for them with their first #1 and a blitzing lb or cb with there 2nd #1.

2 early #2's this year could help with the oline and then 6 picks to work with in the first three rounds next year

Oh well, I can dream

NFLN did a mock and here it is
Who the hell is this guy they have the Steelers taking? They even call him an "interior lineman" and label his position as T. I havent seen this guy as a 1st rounder on Kiper or McShay's lists, IIRC. No way they pick this guy over Glenn or Konz if they go OL.How bout have Mayock do a mock instead of Steve Whyche.

All these mocks are just fun reading material under Rich Gosselin's final mock comes out preceding the draft, so you can see what the vast majority of teams will actually be doing. His calls last year were amazing.

Well yeah. I'm just a guy waiting for some work to do at work. The closest thing I have to an NFL contact is my cousin who played with Phil Hansen of the Bills in college back in the 80's.My mocks are just to talk about the guys coming out and what each team's roster holes there are to fill.

"The Boilermaker" Jim Jeffries? :boxing: As a fellow Rams fan, I also hope there's an opportunity to trade down, but I also won't mind if they stay put and take Kalil.

By "popular" demand...

Carolina - Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama

Has the size to match up with the NFC South's big men.
That would be awesome but I cannot see him slipping to 8th(or 9th) the dude is sick good.
So are the guys at 1 through 7/8. ;) He's actually a guy that I'd like the Vikes to consider. They need someone to match up with Calvin Johnson 2 or 3 times a season.
Dre was just busted for pot possession celebrating in Florida. One of the draft analysts said it was like getting busted 'drinking Schlitz' in today's world...but can't help but think it causes a drop to later in the first.
