I think farve has to be an option, especially after his picture mail ordeal. I know a lot of girls that would be clueless about that entire list.

Changed the poll to 'because of the NFL'....that eliminates anyone famous 'because of Johnnie Cochran'.

John Madden
DING DING DING Winner. And as long as EA keeps perpetuating his name yearly it will stay that way.
In 5 years, the kids playing the game will have no idea who Madden was or why they call the game "Madden."

Joe Namath [ 3 ] [10.00%]

Joe Montana [ 6 ] [20.00%]

This board is younger than I thought.

Joe Namath attended the Oscars as Raquel Welch's date.
off topic, but i never noticed how much Namath sucked. I think he had 2 years out of 13 where he actually threw more tds than interceptions. Not taking away from him popularity, just surprised.
You can't measure leadership.Seriously...he blew out BOTH knees in college...going into the draft...and still changed the direction of an entire league by demanding too much money from the NFL.That was before he won (one of) the most famous game in NFL history.

like I said, not taking away from him popularity because of his personality and character. He just had some really ugly years as a QB.

No misunderstanding the stats...but he's the first QB to throw for 4000 yards...how do you disguise that passing game?

He said famous, not infamous.
OJ was more famous in his time than Brady or Manning are now. Or anyone else. Before he killing his ex-wife. He and Nicole were even at the top of the Hollywood A list.

Was this before or after he started beating the crap out of her?

Are you Joe Namath's mom or something? Going pretty hard here. Please understand that less people give a woot about Namath now than you think.

If you're talking within the football world it's all of these guys, likely Lombardi. If you're talking about the general public, there's no way Vince Lombardi should be running away with this poll.

Somewhat fun topic. But can it really be anyone besides Lombardi? Really? Uh no.

I wish my team had half the storied history of the Packers. All I have is a championship from two lifetimes ago and Concrete Charlie

It's from the movie, the Three Amigos...

Today, John Madden

But is he more famous today the Namoth was in his time?

Lombardi, Namoth, Madden... Those guys should be leading the poll (If Madden wasn't left out)

He can't be that famous if you can't spell his name right......twice.
How many times would I have to spell it right for him to be famous?Namath.. Namath.. Namath.. Namath.. Namath..Is that enough? I was thinking my typo has absolutely nothing to do with it but I guess you're the famous vs typo sheriff so maybe you can tell me.. :goodposting:

IMO it is Favre. If you were to poll random people around the country, I think he is the person that almost everyone could ID.
