Prior is a big name, would love to see the Yanks take a flyer on him, especially with the uncertainty of the 3 kids. And Dallas MacPherson has had back issues and not exceled, but I'd love for the Yanks to get in on him and take a shot at handing him first and straighteing things out at age 27.Everett and Donelley should find work as should Olivo, who could do well in this catchers market.

Aki Otsuka non-tendered by the Rangers.

Would also love the see the Rangers give Prior a chance. We could use the karma points. Also I wouldn't be surprised to see Kevin Mench back in Arlington. Shrek has a cult-like following here.

Whoa that's shocking. The guy was one of the most sought after relievers just last winter.

One name I was surprised to see was Willie Harris. How much could he actually have been making? Maybe 1 million/year? He was a very nice multi-positional player who I thought was a decent part of the Braves team last year. Maybe not an everyday player, but a cheap guy that can play second and the OF, and gets on base fairly well against right handed pitching.....I dunno.

Would love for the Yanks to jump on Otsuka, Prior, and Hendrickson.
there was talks this morning that maybe the Cubs got the Mitchell Report and maybe Prior was on that list... that sucks because I was a big fan of Prior's, and still dont wanna see him go. but good luck Yankees, Mets, BoSox, etc. youll need it with this guy.

I'm thinking the arm is not right. The guy could/should close if healthy, so I'm guessing there is something there. Jon Daniels is not completely dumb, and his contract was not bad.

Well if the Reds could use this good relationship I keep hearing about that Prior had with Dusty Baker and sign him as a free agent at a managable salary, and they can pull the trigger on Bedard without giving up the entire future of the franchise, the Reds jump to being the favorites to win their division.

You think Prior would be useful this year? Whoever signs him would be hoping he is useful in 2009.

Wasn't Dusty the one who ran Prior's arm into the ground in the first place?

I was under the impression he would be ready to go by (this) spring. If it is the case I actually don't know how well he would manage in the Great American HR house, but if he isn't ready until '09 then....yeah...the Reds are not such a shoe in either way.

yeah, i hardly see how 1 very good pitcher and one broken down guy makes them the favorite.

If Omar doesnt snatch up Prior, Im going to be pissed. We don't have the chips to trade so we need to take some calculated risks on the FA market.

Good call, that would be a nice spot potentially for himThat or SD, where he can work in nice weather, a big ballpark and away from a microscope.

Johnny Estrada dumped after the Mets trade for him.

Josh Towers, the afforementioned Otsuzka and Aaron Miles on the updated list.

I wouldn't mind the Yankees looking at Brad Eldred. I don't know if he was injured, but he was once a pretty big lefty power prospect and they will be holding open auditions at 1b. He might be a good roll of the dice at age 27.

Would love for the Yanks to jump on Otsuka, Prior, and Hendrickson.
I was surprised to see Lurch Hendrickson non-tendered. True he's not very good but he's healthy (I think), left handed and has the flexibility to start of relieve. He doesn't have much upside but could be a useful arm for a number of teams. He also seems like the kind of guy who could have a long career as a LOOGY type.

"Lurch" is also one of the best current nicknames in baseball

Really surprised at Hendrickson being non tendered. I think some team is going to throw him some nice change on a 1 year deal. If I were the Astros, I would be on the phone with his agent immediately.

Otsuka having elbow surgery. Shut down for 2008.

So does he have to pay for his own surgery and rehab?

I bet someone picks him up as a sign and stash type situation. Minor league deal, plus medical and rehab costs as a goodwill move for 2009.
