***The Official 2009 Oakland Raiders*** (1 Viewer)

I have a feeling we could see Russell get benched this week. New York should give him nightmares. Even if he's benched this game in a blowout, he could still start again next week though. I dont foresee Gradkowski lighting things up this week either. Still a benching might humble the kid a bit and give us fans some hope.

Hanson comes out.

If this stuff is true, Cable :goodposting: And I'm not just talking about him belting Hanson. I'm talking about running screwball practices and depriving the team of a very good coach.

Listening to one side of a story involving a fight will always make you think the other guy is the bad guy wont it?Sounds to me like this all started when Kiffin was the head coach. If both Kiffin and Cable had a simuliar problem with Hanson, I have a hard time taking Hanson's side. Should Cable have hit Hanson? No, but look what happened to Kiffin when he suspended Hanson. Now at least Hanson is out of the way.

I'm watching them against the Giants, and have NEVER in all my 20+ years watching this team, see them play so poorly.

Ever.

It takes a special kind of fan to remain loyal to this team.

It isn't one side: the other coaches that were there verify Hanson's story. Cable is a bum. On most teams he would have been fired by now.

Ok my fellow Raider fans, help me out here. I've always considered myself a very loyal fan, but how much more of this garbage should we have to take? I've lived and breathed Silver & Black every football season since 1980 when I was 9 years old. I can't even sit through one freaking offensive series. For the first time I changed the channel today, and it was still in the 1st quarter! What are you guys doing to cope? I need a little group therapy today. I have lost complete faith in my team. It sucks that we as fans have nothing positive to look forward to every Sunday, not even a glimmer of hope, we've become national laughing stocks and our leader Mr. Davis is nowhere to be seen.

Per Mike Lombardi

The trading deadline is nine days away and some teams will be very active. The Raiders are shopping most of their players (not JaMarcus Russell), and there are other teams that will be active. Could linebacker Derrick Johnson of the Chiefs be gone next week? Or running back Larry Johnson? Do you think the Browns will trade Brady Quinn if Derek Anderson plays well today?

I hear you Bruno2. I watched the first quarter yesterday before bailing to make a costco run and spent the rest of the afternoon hanging Christmas Lights.

Chances are that my stance on the team is more related to the fact that I am pretty stubborn by nature, but I am not willing to jump to another bandwagon just yet. I still consider myself a pretty big Raider fan and but lately I have found myself looking for the little victories - unfortunately even those are hard to come. With the consistent failure of the Raiders I have found myself becoming a bigger football fan overall. Where I used to watch the Raider game regardless of the other games on at the same time, I now try to watch the game that has the best match up or has the biggest impact to the league standings.

I will say that I whole heartedly agree that the NFL is better when the Raiders are competitive. The NFL needs the villain to be a factor. As for when that will happen again, man, I have no idea.

As for this season, its sad to think that after only 5 games I am looking for a QB change already. Regardless of the reason Russell is playing so poorly there is no benefit in keeping him in the game. There has been no improvement shown on his part, and I feel that he is negatively impacting the development of the young players around him. A bigger concern for me is that he is showing up out of shape (over weight) and late for team meetings. The leader of this team should not be setting those types of examples. I pray that the Raiders have filled his contract with clauses that would allow them to fine him over and over for these types of issues. If he can't get his big fat head in the game then he needs to be removed from the line up and maybe even from the team. With that said, I highly doubt that the Raiders will make the move to pull him from the roster.

As for the coaching situation, I am completely torn. Cable has shown that he wants to be there and I think has made some improvements in comparison to some of the past coaches. And I am of the opinion that the team needs consistent coaching to take steps in a progressive direction. BUT... I cannot continue to back a guy who reportedly attacked another coach (regardless of the situation), or back a guy that can't seem to put his team in a position to even look competitive. While he has been able to improve the run blocking of the offence, he has not been able to get in the head of Russell, or some of other players in the locker room.

Short of removing Davis, I am lost on suggestions that might make this team any better. Regardless of what needs to happen I hope it happens soon. It's been a while since I have fully enjoyed watching the Silver and Black.

I was at the game yesterday. I was going to bring a paper bag with eye holes in case I needed it and I wish I did. The worst part was that the Giants fans didn't even really care that I was there wearing my Raiders gear from the get go they all kind of felt bad for me. Never even had a chance to get a little excited yesterday. How long can this nightmare possibly go on?

About all there is to do IMO is fight Al Davis. He has quit being a football man and has completely turned to the dark side as a pure business man. His only goal (from what I can tell by his staff/player/stadium moves) is to be making as much money off this team as he can. He spends very little ON the team, coaching staff or non-skill position players because they don't put butts in the seats. He's in one of the cheapest, most run-down stadiums in the NFL in one of the dirtiest parts of one of the dirtiest cities in the U.S. likely 'cause it doesn't cost much to upkeep and he won't feel much pressure to upgrade.

Until there is some change in philosophy about running the franchise, I refuse to buy anything with a Raiders shield on it be it tickets, jerseys, hats or anything else. I'll continue to follow the team, but there really is nothing to root for, and I'd love nothing more than to see Al and his minions go bankrupt on this franchise for what little loyalty they have shown towards one of the most loyal fan bases in all of sports.

i just shake my head and move on. i will always be a raider fan, i felt a glimmer of excitement opening night, but i have packed that faint glimmer of hope away for another day. the raiders will not be any good until al is gone. i have resigned myself to this fact. it sucks, but i will make it through.

on sundays, FF gets me through the raider games. i have the ticket with 3 tvs & the rule is, once the raiders get down more than 3 scores, the game goes onto the small screen. this week i had to run some errands and didnt really care that i was missing the game. :bag:

I too will always be a fan of the raiders no matter what

i guess some concelation will be that one day ill be able to look back and say

`can you remember how bad we used to suck` as we win a championship

I may have to pass on this to my kids as i dunno if i will make it that long

Giants' Pierce: Sorry Raiders 'need some guidance'

Oakland has been called an NFL laughingstock by both the media and Raider haters. Now the criticism is coming from players around the league.

New York Giants middle linebacker Antonio Pierce, speaking during a Sirius NFL Radio interview conducted Tuesday by myself and retired NFL head coach Marty Schottenheimer, had some harsh words for the Oakland franchise after his team's 44-7 home rout last Sunday. Pierce said the Raiders game felt more like a "scrimmage" than regular-season contest. And while the topic wasn't discussed openly, Pierce said a confident Giants roster was well aware that ailing quarterback Eli Manning (heel) could get a break the quicker New York took a commanding lead. Manning was already on the bench with the Giants ahead at halftime, 31-7.

I asked Pierce whether the Raiders (1-4) were really as bad as they seem. His response:

"I do not like knocking teams. But right now, they're struggling. We're playing that game the other day and, honestly, it felt like a scrimmage, like a practice. It felt like we were going against our offense (in a controlled setting) as far as the tempo.

"There was no vibe of trying or effort from the Raiders at all from a defensive standpoint against their offense. We're getting three-and-outs. You don't hear nobody (saying), 'Hey, let's go!' trying to pick the guys up, rallying them, getting guys fired up. There was nothing. It was quiet. A guy gets sacked or somebody gets beat, they just get up. It's not like there's yelling or no kind of (emotion) about the way they were playing.

"It was shocking to be out there in that game and get that kind of feeling."

Such harsh words aren't fun for Pierce to use. Pierce, who was credited with four tackles in Sunday's game, admitted during the show that the Raiders were his favorite team while growing up in the Los Angeles area.

"It's sad because I grew up a Raiders fan," said Pierce, who was 16 years old when the Raiders moved back from Los Angeles to Oakland in 1995. "That organization right now, they need some guidance. They need somebody to pick them up."

Pierce's comments are the latest critique of a franchise seemingly destined for an NFL-record seventh consecutive season with at least 11 losses. Since a Week 2 victory over Kansas City (0-5), Oakland has fallen apart with three consecutive lopsided losses. One major reason is shoddy play from quarterback JaMarcus Russell. He ranks 35th in NFL quarterback rating with four interceptions, just one touchdown pass (in the season-opener, no less) and 42.1 completion percentage.

The news isn't any better off the field. First-year Raiders head coach Tom Cable is under police investigation for an alleged assault on Oakland assistant coach Randy Hanson in August. If he's eventually found guilty, Cable could become the first head coach under suspension since NFL commissioner Roger Goodell took office in 2006.

Oakland hosts Philadelphia (3-1) on Sunday. The Giants (5-0) travel to New Orleans for a big-time NFC matchup with New Orleans (4-0).

A team built on speed needs to blitz. I don't know what changed that playbook today, but the impact was obvious.

Looking back on the season so far, can you feel that bad about a team (despite how crappy they have looked) that have:

Lost to and undefeated team

Lost to a team that has only lost 1 game

and only just lost to a team

going up against a team on a 3 game slide

with a pigeon on their side?

Where do you see Zach Miller's ceiling (PPR)? Can he be a Gates/Witten/Gonzo, or is high more likely to stay around 5-10?

SO this topic says "Regular Season" as the sub-topic, I mean do you guys plan on making the playoffs ever again?

I would just like some clarification...

The Raiders are truly pathetic.....As a lifetime fan, I refuse to buy this product right now.....Changes have to be made in the way they do things, immediately. This isn't even embarrassing, it's downright sickening. The organization is sick, period, and in need of antibiotics to get rid of the bacteria. :hifive:

 :X

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP)—With a ball-hawking defense and a punishing running game, the New York Jets took the pressure off struggling rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez(notes) and handed the Oakland Raiders THEIR MOST LOPSIDED HOME LOSS EVER.

This was just the fifth home shutout ever for the Raiders (2-5), WITH FOUR COMING IN THE PAST FOUR SEASONS.

Time to blow the whole thing up and start over. Unfortunately, that starts at the top...

Raiders | Ellis to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery WednesdayMon, 02 Nov 2009 16:26:02 -0800CBSSports.com reports Oakland Raiders DE Greg Ellis (knee) will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery Wednesday, Nov. 4. DE Matt Shaughnessy would make his first NFL start Week 10 if Ellis is unable to play.

I'd be surprised at this point if Cable makes it through the season. At best, he'll get canned about 2 minutes after the last game. As if the uninspired play isn't enough, even Al won't be able to gloss over the recent domestic violence story.

I've about had it with STONE HANDS Heyward-Bey. I hated the pick when it was made, as did most sane people who are Raider fans. But have we just about seen enough yet? The guy has a better chance of catching the ball in his facemask than with his hands.

And while we're at it, to make matters 100x worse, can this disgrace please give Ken Stabler his number back???

The DHB selection was right up there with the Dolphins taking Ted Ginn Jr. a few years ago. Only thing is, it was about 10 picks earlier. Awful, awful selection, and that's all on your owner. They aren't picking football players, anymore. Guys like Russell and DHB are just nice physical specimens. You'd think Al would learn by now, but no.

I have to laugh to keep from crying. On the one hand, after every loss I tend to say to myself "Well, it just means a better draft pick"... but what's the difference? Al will just #### up the pick anyway. Rooting for this team is a hopeless feeling.

Al doesnt usually do a bad job picking WRs or most positions for that matter. Its just that QB is not a physical position and some GMs just cant seem to figure that out. So many so called experts said Oakland should take Russell over Calvin Johnson and all I could do was shake my head. If you want a physical QB, then get us Vince Young or Michael Vick to run the football. If WR wasnt such a huge need, I doubt AL would have taken DHB. Had Crabtree been healthy, he probably would have been the pick. Regardless, DHB shouldnt have been thrown into the starting lineup. He's one of those guys who is going to take a couple years to get their game together. You cant call a rookie WR a bust but both he and Russell are hurting the team right now. Get them out of the starting lineup and let this team win some games.

From Jerry Mac:

"In Cable’s 21 games as head coach, the Raiders have had one or zero touchdowns 16 times." :blackdot:

This is so pathetic. Al Davis has absolutely tarnished what was once a great legacy.
