The Official 2011 Boston Red Sox Thread (2 Viewers)

Another single for Crawford... 8 for his last 9. In the last 26 hours or so Boston has outscored Cleveland and Detroit 28-3 while posting up 36 hits.
Might be one of the best offenses stretches ever put together. In any game.

Who wants to lay odds the Sox miss the playoffs?
April 14th - Red Sox 2-9. 5-6 pages dedicated to how overrated this team is. No one stepped up. You's trollin.
You need to take a Xanax or something. I dunno if you wanna call it trollin but its pretty obvious most of us Yankee fans were busting balls and kicking the team while they were down. Nobody took the bet because we all knew the Sox were a good team.

I don't need a Xanax. Go back and have a look. There was plenty of serious people talking about how this team was in BIG trouble. Terrible rotation, terrible bullpen, Crawford is overrated and can;t handle the pressure in Boston. Everyone is talking about Gonzalez and Crawford but forgetting about the loss of Beltre and Martinez. You're serious? There was kicking while a team was down but there was plenty of trolling going on. Is there a difference? Seriously?

So lemme get this straight... you have 2 potential Cy Young guys going tonight but we cant watch that cause ESPN is showing CIN/ATL???

;) not if you have satelliteSerious baseball fans get the MLB Extra Innings package and get to watch almost all games (except what is on opposite Fox' game of the week)

:goodposting: Extra Innings is a small price to pay for a serious MLB fan.
I do have it. I don't see it listed. :shuked:

Dustin fields that ball and the games over. That said Francoma has a bad habit of leaving pitchers in way too long when theyre clearly struggling.

Bad news - Boston bullpen blew the win for Beckett. Hurts me in fantasy leagues. Good news - Boston bullpen blows the win!

:confetti:

Salty crushed a hanging curve that just missed jumping over the green monster. 2 out double then Ellsbury gets a ground rule double to tie it up.

:sadbanana:

Beckett v CC for the road sweep. Gardner brainfarted on a passed ball when the game tightened up and then Jeter bounced into an easy 6-4-3 DP.

<<<<<< TICKET FAVOR ALERT >>>>>>>

Heading up to Boston with the GF and some friends to visit some other friends and family. We're all hitting the July 23rd Saturday Night game vs Seattle.

HEre's the hook. We're looking for 16 together. I've checked Stubhub, Ebay, and Ace. Best deal thus far is $85 for B41-R3. It's quite pricey but we're looking to stay out of the GS3-GS9 range due to neck cramps and potential Obstructed views.

Budget is around $100 or less per ticket. I'd like to go higher but some of the folks are going to be struggling with the cost of the trip as it is.

Anyone have any ideas? I've got a buddy who works in sports radio up there who's putting out some feelers and calling "his guy" at Ace to see what he can pull together but I also figured I'd check here as well.

Huge props if anyone can pull anything together.

You could read his lips, he thought Jeter got hit at first. Doesn't totally absolve him from not scoring, but when you think you're gonna be waltzing home and then all of a sudden you gotta bust it, I can see how it happened.

Call Boston ticket office is my advice
YEp. If we buy 20 tickets and have a 15 or under "birthday kid" with us we can get lower bleachers for $37ea including a free hot dog for everyone. Asked my cousin if she felt like bringing her 17yo son and a friend... waiting to hear back

Wouldn't mind a rainout tonight. Having Josh and Clay lined up to start the Toronto series would be nice, and Pedroia should be available for the makeup game.

Update. Success!20 seats together at Fenway...face value....free Fenway Frank for everyone. This is despite them saying they've only got "scattered singles" available. GB you, unscrupulous ticket guy who informed me the shady way to make it work. :banned: First time I've ever bought face value seats at Fenway without winning some lottery to do so. :lmao:

How exactly did it work out?
Just called them... guy told me about the deal. I confirmed my 2nd cousin could come. They don't check birth certificates or anything. I'll have the tickets in my mailbox in a week. If we want the free hot dogs and birthday pendant we have to go back to the birthday booth by the end of the 1st inning to claim them. The conditions are:• Must buy 20 or more tickets• Pay $37.50 per ticket (+$10 handling charge) = $750 total• Everyone gets free Fenway Frank or Slice of Pizza• Kid must be 3-15 years old (though they don't verify it)• Kid gets name on scoreboardTHey basically just took my order like normal, confirmed that I wanted 10x10 vs 20 in one row, asked if we wanted hot dogs or pizza, and asked when the kid's birthday was. That was it.

Destroyed TOR and TB is up next. 5-1 Friday, 16-4 Sat and Lester threw up a gem in a 14-1 game and 900 runs might not be out of line for this team.

7 in a row. I'm really loving what Ellsbury has done thus far as he's dialed in and putting up numbers that I'd expect from Crawford.
I'm thinking he's the best leadoff hitter in the majors as of now. Glad to see him bounceback
His G/F ratio has been consistently trending toward Fb and his IsoP is at his career peak. He is getting caught stealing a bit too much, but the 11 season looks like it could be a career best.

Jesus christ... these guys are just destroying the ball right now.

Interesting Stat:

Yankees HR: 95

Red Sox HR: 77

Yankees Runs: 330

Red Sox Runs: 350

--

Current Standings in all of MLB:

AVG: 1st

SLG: 2nd

OBP: 1st

Runs: 1st

Total Bases: 1st (almost 10% more bases than any other team in MLB)

FUNFACT: Bucholz has a lower ERA than Lester and just as many wins as Beckett

Pitching-Wise:

Lester: 3.73 ERA - 9 Wins - 87 K - 1.28 WHIP

Beckett : 2.06 ERA - 5 Wins - 73 K - 1.01 WHIP

Buckholz : 3.59 ERA - 5 Wins - 55 K - 1.31 WHIP

Lackey : 7.41 ERA - 4 Wins - 29 K - 1.65 WHIP

Aceves : 3.29 ERA - 3 Wins (in 3 Games Started) - 24 K -1.24 WHIP

Boston has always been very successful in interleague play, however with this team as hot as they are, and facing this stretch... we could be historically successful.

Phillies (obviously a TOUGH series), Brewers (solid), Pirates, Astros & Phillies

Then, let's take a look at the AL East Schedule after Interleague play:

Boston has Blue Jays, Orioles, At Rays, at Orioles, Mariners, Royals, White Sox (I think we finally crack this nut) and Indians.

The Rays and Yanks have each other eight times.

All things being equal, I fully expect Boston to add 4-5 games to their divisional lead in the month of July... possibly more.

----

MY PROGUESSTIONS For Boston's record at the following points in the season:

End of June: 48-32 (.600)

All Star Break : 55-35 (.611)

End of July: 65-41 (.613)

Tending to agree here. Not bad company to be in the discussion against, however. It will be interesting to see how things shake out with Ellsbury as a Boras client. Arbitration in 2012. I'd hate to lose him but with megabucks comitted to Crawford in the offseason I can't see Theo offering up what will be the likely market value. I can see Boras coming out gunning for a 5/100 deal or something crazy like that. Hoping I'm wrong as I REALLY enjoy watching this kid play. Always have.

Drew's deal is off the books after this season and Papi is not a stone cold lock to be on the 12 roster.

Apologize for crashing the party here...but I think there might be a few people here that could help me out.

I'm looking at seats to a show at Bank of America Pavilion and it says the various seats have limited view of the stage. Basically they are in either Section 1 or Section 3 (side sections), nothing further back than 15 rows, and the seats are on the extreme sides obviously. Do I have anything to worry about here? Would I be better off in Section 1 row KK (last row of section) seats mid-row or Section 1 row E or K seats 1 or 2? Thanks.
