Sox and Yankees on a helluva tear. Gotta suck to be a Tampa fan, I would be frustrated as hell right now

Since starting the season 2-10, the Sox have been playing .700 ball (42-18).
Bad for my rooting interests. Good for my bank account. If you look at the gambling thread, you'll see I've been betting a Red Sox & over parlay every night.

Nothing the bookies can do.... they can't set the total at 12.

Apologize for crashing the party here...but I think there might be a few people here that could help me out.I'm looking at seats to a show at Bank of America Pavilion and it says the various seats have limited view of the stage. Basically they are in either Section 1 or Section 3 (side sections), nothing further back than 15 rows, and the seats are on the extreme sides obviously. Do I have anything to worry about here? Would I be better off in Section 1 row KK (last row of section) seats mid-row or Section 1 row E or K seats 1 or 2? Thanks.
One pity bump.gb icon? fin? anyone?

First, I am not a big fan of BoA Pavil, but I will be going to see MMJ and the National. I would rather be centered in the back row of the upper section than all the way to the right in the front. I also definitely would pay a premium for Sections 1,2,3 over the back ones. Check some youtubes under Bank of America Pavilion, might give you a sense

If you don't have good seats, as Wilked said, I would just find the cheapest things you can and plan on hanging out way in the back near the beer.

Interesting, thanks fellas. I'm also looking at seeing MMJ there as I'm likely to be in Manchester for work that week. There are alot of seats available...those front edge singles in 1/3 and then tons of seats at the back of 4/5/6, and whatever those 5 people circle table looking things are. I'll have to see what's left in a few weeks, and maybe check some other sites for premium seats to see what they are going for.

Gimme a break. Tampa is a major reason why the Sox and the Yanks need to keep throwing massive money out each year. They have a better eye for talent. Can't beat Crawford? We'd better buy him. Sox and Yankee fans may really think their clubs are something else, but even though I'm not a fan I respect the hell out of what the Rays have done with 1/4 of the payroll that the Sox and Yankees have. Yeah, Rays fans are probably down at the moment. But what about 2010? 2008?

umm the Yanks & Sox keep throwing massive money out each year is because they are competing with EACHOTHER for the same big money players.

Ummm, to my knowledge the Yankees had little interest in Crawford and definitely did not have interest in Gonzalez. And 2 out the last 3 years they should have been paying attention to TB instead of eachother. And it's enjoyable to see small market teams grind it out with lower payrolls and punch NY and Boston in the mouth. :boxing:

I agree. Watching how Tanpa has built a winner is extremely refreshing. It might be more appropriate to express your excitement in a Rays thread. btw, Is the boxing gloves really needed?

Part of the reason Tampa has been able to build a very nice, young team, is because of teams like the Sox and Yankees signing their free agents which nets Tampa a boatload of picks.

I think you got the cart before the horse there...It all started with Tampa on an amazingly bad run of terrible seasons, which netted the picks, which brought in the young talent, which beget the stars, which got signed by big market teams, leaving the Rays with picks (but not top picks)

Bro, simma down. I have a ton of respect for Tampa and its fans. I was simply saying that Tampa fans must be pissed watching their two main rivals win 8 of 10 games. You seem a little on edge...

price and Longo for sure, although it must be said that Longo was not considered a sure thing before the draft. I still remember the Joe Randa comparisons. Crawford was a second-round pick, Shields was like rd 15, Hellickson was round 4, Davis was 3. Guys like Zobrist, Bartlett, Balfour, Pena, were all considered nothing or next to nothing when they got here. Trading Edwin Jackson for Matt Joyce, etc. A lot of layers to what the Rays have accomplished, but this isn't the thread for it. Ps, I'm not too frustrated. 3.5 in June is no big deal.

Hell yes I'm on edge. I'm a Tiger fan. We can't overtake the AAA team that's on top of our division and we just lost 2 out of 3 to a AAA team + Matt Kemp in LA.I just thought I'd look up the Sawx thread. Honestly, I couldn't have been happier for Red Sox Nation in 2004. Those were the anti-Yankees. Now they're just Yankees North to me.Tampa fans? You mean there are some? I go down to St Pete every spring with the family, just in time for opening week. It's shameful to walk into that stadium to see 8,000 people there. I still enjoy watching the Red Sox beat the Yankees though. That will never change.ETA: How happy is A Gonz to get away from Petco? That guy must spring a stiffy every day he walks out onto Fenway.

Pedroia reminds me of one of those yippy little dogs that never stops barking.

ETA: Does Youkilis always look this bad at third? He's looked lost out there this weekend.

 Naw. Youk is tied for 3rd among full time MLB 3rd Basemen with regards to 2011 Fielding Percentage IIRC. He's one of the best MLB 1st Basemen but when you've got AGon you shift Youk over to 3rd every time. And Pedroia has spunk.... Yes his mouth runs nonstop but that's part of the charm. That and he can back up every bit of his talk on the field

He's among the worst in UZR rating this year at 3B. He's better at first, was very good in 2009 and ok in 2008 and 2010. His glove is above average at both positions, everything else is average.

 How'd I know you'd chime in. He's a gold glove winner at 1st. He's slightly above average at 3rd. My point was he doesn't typically "look lost" over there.

I personally think he is only average at 3B, but I think using UZR with such a small sample size is misleading also

BTW, loved this

The Pirates and Red Sox do not see each other often. But there were some hard feelings when they parted.

James McDonald sent Dustin Pedroia sprawling in the dirt in the fifth inning with a high fastball.

Television cameras then caught Pedroia telling Sox starter Andrew Miller to hit the opposing pitcher. Pedroia also shouted out at McDonald.

Miller didn’t hit McDonald. But he did fire a fastball at the legs of Pirates catcher Eric Fryer in the sixth inning. That spurred plate umpire Greg Gibson to warn both teams. There were no further incidents.

“That’s baseball,’’ Pedroia said. “When you rake, that’s what happens sometimes.’’

Gonzalez in Right and Ortiz at First?

“It will be good for us offensively,” Pedroia joked. “But damn, I’m going to have to play second, first, and right.”

Is YOOOUUUKKKK!! made of glass or something?
He's definitely prone to dings, but he's played in 78 of 84 games this year. Some guys who go full bore all game every game are usually gonna miss time periodically. Plus, TIto likes to rest his guys occasionally.

If anyone's interested, I have an extra pair for Sat night, 4 rows behind the dugout that I will sell at face value. Plus you get to hang with me and my dad!

Jesus christ.... seriously? Those your seats? You goin July 23rd? I'll be up there with a large group (bout 25 folks). Think we've got open bar arranged at a pub around fenway from 3-7pm thanks to a buddy who works at CBS Sports Radio up there.

These are company seats I bought from a friend a bit ago. Thought a buddy was taking the other pair but he is now out of town...

Gotcha Wilked. Shoot me a PM if you're making it to the Sat 23rd game.

Jesus.... Jenks?

There goes Miller's 3-0 Record. :lmao:

Love me some Pedroia. The pitch that ended up on the street was about eye level and I was screaming at the TV for him not to swing and then BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE. The Ellsbury HR was a thing of beauty, it looked like he was pulling a little Manny-standing-at-the-plate-admiring-it schtick.

It would've been interesting to see one of those hooks land in the right spot! Someone would've been lights out I think.

The first pitch Ortiz over reacted on, but the second inside pitch he had the right to say something. Then I'm not sure exactly what Gregg was thinking about when he shouted at Ortiz after the popup. It's not like Ortiz was enjoying a home run shot, I kind of wished Gregg had gotten popped. No reason for his overreaction.
