**The Official College NFL Eligible RB Thread** (1 Viewer)

Justin Forsett 26 160 6.2 1 21
The best part about Forsett's performance was getting to taunt all the SEC pimps. Someone rented out a plane with a banner that flew overhead that said "SEC rules, Pac-10 drools," which kind of goes to show the intelligence level of people at SEC schools.Forsett runs well in space, and did a decent job of finding space on runs into the line. He's not very strong, so he can't really push the pile, but he's small and can squirm into small holes. If he winds up in the NFL, it will probably be as a scat-back type.

Sure Jahvid Best is a true freshman (and doesn't fit in this thread), but that kid is pure lightning.
It's early, but I like what I've seen. He's a burner, but he runs like a football player. Definitely one to watch for the 2010 class.

Video of Best's big run against Tennessee:

Pretty nice, especially coming from a guy who runs a 10.3 100m. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of him as the season progresses.

Video of Best's big run against Tennessee:

Best just busted a 64 yard TD against Colorado State. How long until he's getting an even split of carries with Forsett? Forsett is a good college player, but not a good NFL prospect. Much closer to Arrington than Lynch. Best, on the other hand, is looking like a legit NFL prospect.Jonathan Stewart is starting to have his way with Michigan. I suspect he's going to enter the draft and be a first round pick with a good season.

Tashard Choice and Steve Slaton had two more big games today.

It's not Tedford's style to sit an established player who is being effective; he didn't sit Arrington for Lynch, despite Lynch being clearly a more exciting runner. He'll increase Best's touches, but expect Forsett to still get two-thirds of the carries this year.Best is a true freshman, so he'll have plenty of time.

Mike Hart--- 24car 188yrds 3tds in a loss to APPALACHAIN STATE!!!!
The Appal. St. RB did pretty well if I remember correctly - being a U of M fan I just can't seem to come up w/ his name right now without a foul taste developing in my mouth. Can someone throw that info out?

Don't forget about Chris Wells from OSU. He's big, but has nice hands and was a highly touted back last year... I know he's not eligable, but he should be a first rounder next year.

And yes Best is nice, but he's no Joe McKnight or Noel Devine. IF Devine can stay out of trouble he should be ridiculous next year if Slaton leaves early.

When has Devine really been in trouble? An what makes you think he will find trouble? Or are you refering to academic trouble? From what I've seen so far his head is on straight and he's humble like nothing else, just wants to play. All he does is put his head down and run and do what the team/coach asks him to do. He looks very good out there right now. To the point where he needs to see more and more time.I'd actually say he is a half step faster than Slaton. Looks smooth outside and seems to get great YAC up the middle. The balance he has is crazy though.

Best doesn't have the hype of Devine or McKnight, but he might eventually become the better college player. He rushed for 3,000 yards last season and was the state champion in the 100m (not easy to do in CA). He had scholarship offers from USC and Notre Dame among others. Bay Area prospects tend to be a little underrated when it comes to national recruiting rankings. Lynch was only a 4 star recruit and the #16 RB in the country by scout.com when he entered college. IMO, Best is certainly in the same class as McKnight and Devine as a prospect. I haven't seen McKnight play lately, but I recall being slightly disappointed when I looked at his highlight videos last season. I think he may have been slightly overrated.Devine is a beast (I took him in the 1st round of my college dynasty draft), but I don't view him as being head and shoulders above Best at this point.

He looks like a pretty solid player, but he doesn't appear to have the special athletic qualities of some of the other backs in college. He's a little hesitant and slow through the hole. He's not as explosive as some of the other top college prospects. I think he can still be a first day draft pick, but right now I'm not as excited about him as I am about some of these other guys. He looks more like Antowain Smith than Shaun Alexander. We'll see.

S. Slaton 26 137 5.3 3 22 (this guy is really starting to rack up the yards)

He seems to get alot of GL looks is he a GL runner?

N. Devine 5 136 27.2 0 76 (OMG I know he's not eligible but is he really this good?)

Didn't get to watch this game does anyone know if it will be rebroadcasted?

Devine is a Freshman and truly the next Barry Sanders.

After watching last night, I can't see Slaton going back for his senior year (not that he was likely to anyway, but now there's no chance) because he will not want to share the spotlight with Devine. I had seen some of the High school highlights and was somewhat skeptical about whether he could keep it up against tougher competition, but he looked just as silly against a decent Div 1-A defense. Now my only question is will he be big enough to survive the pounding.

Agree on both Slaton leaving and questions of Devine taking the pounding. But some of his lateral moves last night were literally breathtaking. :lmao:

Michael Hart is incredible, his balance and vision are L.T.-like. He'd be my top choice if I was an NFL team looking for a franchise RB.

Jonathan Stewart - 17/165/2 TD's

I've heard how fast Stewart is for a big back (5-11/230), but you really get to see it firsthand on his 88 YD TD run.

I saw Stewart play live in Ann Arbor and he is the real deal: powerful, good balance, and a real burst. He should see his stock soar at the combine when teams realize how amazing his speed/size combo is. Mike Hart is the best RB in college football right now, but I continue to doubt his potential as an NFL back due to his lack of speed.

Just a little north of Morgantown in Pittsburgh, there's another freshman sensation at RB - LeSean McCoy

He busted a 64 yarder vs. Mich State yesterday, and he probably has taken over as the starting RB for the Panthers. He's got legit breakaway speed and very nice moves. He also scored three TDs on his first four carries (5,8,13) last week vs. Grambling.

I have a feeling McCoy will grab a headline or two as the season goes on.

Mike Hart is Warrick Dunn all over again. For his size, you'd expect a lot more quickness and speed but you'll be dissappointed there. You will be shocked however, by the toughness this little RB brings. He is best between the tackles, will run through arm tackles and will try to overpower bigger defenders. If you're expecting L.T., forget it. In the NFL, he is at best, Warrick Dunn (who in my opinion is the toughest pound for pound RB I've seen).

:wall: I'll be breaking this game down to scout Stewart. Can't wait to watch it!

As I've been saying for a while, Stewart has a chance to be the second back drafted when it's all said and done. He has a better build than Slaton (and McFadden for that matter) and will have a better combine than Rice. He definitely has first round potential.

I got to watch him play and he is for sure a guy to keep an eye on. He looks very good for a rookie.

After watching the Michigan/Penn State game yesterday, I don't think there's any doubt that Michael Hart is the best player in college football right now. Perhaps I'm a bit biased (yeah, I'd have his children), but what Hart did Saturday was simply amazing considering the circumstances. Penn State has one of the top defenses in the country, led by everybody's all-american LB, Dan Connor. The Nittany Lions knew that they'd see a heavy dose of of Hart, so they continually put 8-9 players in the box (daring the young Ryan Mallett to throw). Well, maybe PSU should have put 11 in the box, because 8-9 players were not enough to stop Hart. Running behind big Jake Long, Hart ran for 150+ yards on 44 carries! That's a ridiculous amount of touches, but Michigan needed them all (and Hart was up to the challenge). We are watching one of the all-time great players in the history of Michigan football (he will soon have the school rushing record). Not only is he extremely talented, but he's also a great kid. After Michigan fell to 0-2 (following the blow-out loss to Oregon), Hart basically announced that he was gonna put this team on his back. Two weeks later, he's toated the rock 79 times, and Michigan is 2-2. Mike Harts leads the nation in rushing with 655 yards through 4 games, and if he keeps up this pace, he will have made a legitimate case for Heisman consideration. To the people questioning Hart's speed, he has enough to get the job done...he is a player. Being a track star doesn't automatically make you a great NFL prospect, I'd rather have a guy with great football instincts. I think Hart is going to surprise some people at the next level.
