No way that Jones would send Romo to a team in the division; especially here.
I heard Romo was going to be released. That means he can go anywhere, no?
I read this, although it's a couple weeks ago...And this

Trading Tony Romo won’t be easy, if Romo doesn’t want it

The trade-or-release Tony Romo question ultimately will be resolved by the Cowboys. However, it’s not simply a question of what the team wants. What Romo wants matters, too.

He undoubtedly wants to be released, so that: (1) he can pick his own next team; (2) his next team won’t be diminished by whatever would be sacrificed to do the deal; and (3) he’ll get a new contract on the open market. (If a team is willing to pay Romo $14 million and give up a draft pick, that team would arguably pay him even more if there was no draft pick to be given up.) If Romo isn’t enthusiastic about a potential trade, the suitor may be less inclined to do the deal.

It’s one thing to tap a non-quarterback on the shoulder and tell him that his contract has been sent to a new city. It’s quite another to do it with a starting quarterback, who needs to be more than a clock-puncher in order to get the most out of an offense. As an extension of the coaching staff, the quarterback needs to be all in; if he’s doing the bare minimum, the team won’t get full return on its investment.

Romo has leverage. If he makes it clear he doesn’t want to be traded and if no team will trade for him if he doesn’t want to be traded, the Cowboys have two options: (1) pay him $14 million to hold a clipboard; or (2) cut him.

Romo also could threaten to retire if traded. While that would cost him $5 million if he followed through on the threat (see Jake Plummer), it’s another reason for a team that is thinking about trading for Romo to think twice before assuming that he’ll happily show up.

Yes, the Cowboys would like to get value for Romo; why wouldn’t they? But the specifics of this case will make it very difficult unless Romo is being traded to a place where he wants to play — and unless he’s getting the kind of contract walking through the door that will prompt him to fully and completely embrace all aspects of the starting quarterback job.

A fight could be on the horizon. The fact that Romo and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have a close relationship could make Jones more likely to avoid a tussle a guy who was supplanted not because he couldn’t make up his mind about retirement (see Brett Favre) but because the team’s next franchise quarterback fell into the franchise’s lap via round four of the 2016 draft at a time when Romo was once again injured.

That’s why I continue to believe that Romo will be released with a wink-nod agreement as to the places he’ll avoid (like Washington). Eventually, Jones and the Cowboys will come to the conclusion that it’s not only the right thing to do but also the only way to resolve the various competing concerns.

In DC for work and having meetings near this place called "Union Market".

Old warehouse converted into a fancy food market. Great food, all cheap and well made. A ton of variety.

A bit out of the way from touristy stuff but been amazing for good quick food while on a work trip which doesn't happen too often.
Union Market is an underground gem that everyone who either lives, or is visiting DC, and who's into food, needs to know about. I owe this Thread some posting. I'll try harder.

I ate there probably 10 times over the course of the week and had a great, quick meal every time. Really was amazing.

Would make a cab ride out there if I was doing the touristy stuff.

Dan Snyder overpays for washed up players. Romo is in all probability toast. If he came to Washington he'd make less on field impact than Neon Deion Sanders who ended up being slower than Reggie Jackson in Yankees pinstripes and less likely to actually tackle someone than DeAngelo Hall. I dont want Romo, lets be clear. But I have come to accept that the current ownership will make the worst possible decision every time.

Anyone familiar with the Shirlington Dog Park? It's right along Four Mile Run and I hear the dog park is somehow connected to the water. But, what I'm not clear on is whether the water access is inside our outside the fenced area. Is it fully enclosed or do people just use the water outside of the fenced area? I have a hound who follows her nose more than her "master's" commands, so I'd love to try it if it's a place that's fully fenced in.
It's our favorite dog park.  There is a small fenced in area for small dogs and a much larger narrow area along the water for larger dogs.  The larger area is fenced off from the water but there are gates for easy access to the water.  The water itself is nice, and it flows like a creek so it's not dirty stagnant water.  As far as leashes go, it's a leash free park, and almost everyone lets their dog run a muck out there.  I can't say enough good things about how nice the people are here.  The people are very friendly and laid back, which is nice and really keeps the dogs friendly as well IMO.  We've actually met a few friends here and talk to some of the other regulars as well.  There is a dog convenience store attached right outside the park, and it's nice to give your dog a quick bath after playing and getting muddy.  We go almost every weekend, and haven't had a problem yet. There also looks to be a running trail on the other side of the water, and some couples dog sit while the other runs.  Overall, it's my favorite dog park in the area

Anybody going to the March on Ashburn today?

Not that it really needs to be said but the Skins are a ####### embarrassment to the league and it's fans.I really feel sorry for those of you that have stood by this team for so many years.

It's very striking to me how closely the Skins' franchise trajectory is following that of the Orioles. The Orioles had 15 or 16 straight losing seasons, and it seemed like with terrible ownership, it could never possibly turn around - at the time Duquette was hired, he was on the scrap heap and it seemed he took the job only because nobody else would. It felt like absolute bottom with no hope for a change. And yet somehow, they've gone from that mess to now having the most wins of any American League team over the last 5 years.

I will say that Angelos basically finally stepped out of the day-to-day and turned things over completely to his son, and to the baseball people. Snyder is 52 years old, and Angelos didn't do that until he was about 85, so it could be a long 30 years ahead for Washington fans.

Don't tease me with false hope.

Sounds like about 12 people showed up and the organizer canceled it because of the weather. I read he might reschedule for tomorrow...you know, when the wind chills will be like 10 degrees.

At this point, anger won't change things as much as apathy.

I started a long post saying literally the exact same thing, but then I got apathetic.

Seriously, all three other major pro sports teams in DC are incredibly appealing right now, and all three are serious threats to end the 19 year semifinal drought. I'd be surprised if it doesn't happen in 2017. I'll be a Skins fan 'till the day I die but right now there's much better places to spend time and money.

Only real way to get any changes is to hit Dannyboy in his wallet and even then the slice you would be taking from him is only a small bit of his profits(jerseys, tickets etc).I made the sad mistake of turning on sports talk radio this morning in the local market and it was nothing but Skins for the entire time, basically repeating the same things over and over.It then turned into a few minutes of why they cant talk about other local teams more(you know, the really good teams that are doing well)and it was at that point I shut it off.I should have known better :wall:

The Dakota Access pipeline protesters just marched by my office in the rain chanting "water is wet."*

*probably really "water is a right" or something like that but it really sounded like "water is wet."

The forecast is calling for 8-12" of snow Monday night.
Guy on FB 'Jay's Wintry Mix' (Does a real good job of forecasting for NoVA area posted this just now...

All models now including the

European model are showing a coastal bomb. This is the kind of storm where it pays to be in Loudoun county where if it stays all snow, could see a foot or more. The new Euro is actually showing 20 inches in Leesburg lol. The European is a historical blizzard for much of the east coast. Its fairly fast moving compared to our other historical storms but the snow thumping will be insane during the height of the storm. Looks like yesterdays runs were a blip. I still like the 8-14 inches forecast but i would learn towards the higher..especially where it stays all snow. This storm could be Loudouns revenge because we have seen the least this year of any county in VA i believe.

Back in the day, my favorite local music venue was The Bayou (under the Whitehurst Freeway ... RIP 1999  ). I still hit places like the Birchmere,  Rams Head Onstage,  State Theatre, Jammin Java, Barns  @ Wolf Trap etc (9:30 not so much anymore.. i leave that & the H street corridor to the younger folks)

Now it's Wolf Trap Filene Center. These are on my list to see this summer: Tedeschi Trucks BandLyle Lovett

Whadayougot?

wolf trap is always a good trip to make. bring your own food and drink? cant go wrong with that

state theater usually gets some decent bands

Next week (10th-14th) DC hosts the annual craft beer trade show, Craft Brewer's Conference. What this means for you people is a lot of craft beer parties/tap takeovers/hotels full of us craft beer folk. I'll be at most of the Ocelot themed events around town. I even helped put one together and Smoke and Barrel Monday the 10th. I corralled and shipped San Diego beer to be poured there including the brewery I work for. Will be fun to have a world;s collide party with the brewery I work for and the one I helped build. Didn't mean to ramble... Just a head's up. Last year this conference brought an estimated 13,000 people to Philly.

Any tips from fathers on a good places in the area to bring a recently turned one year old while parenting solo to get out of the house for a bit?  Day care is closed for Easter Monday and I took off work.  Zoo and museums seem like they would be a bit too crowded to let him loose if he wants to crawl/stagger around for a bit.  I was thinking something like Gravelly Point, but it may be a bit too much of an open space and I could use something different too.

The Funke family will be at the zoo that morning, I'm off work too. Not sure how much it offers a one year old, but it's fresh air and a nice walk.  I don't expect the crowds to be too much on a Monday.  Bottom section seems to work best for little kids in my experience, the petting zoo area is designed to let them move around without getting into much trouble and there's that big grassy area by that entrance. Lemme know if you want to meet up and get a glimpse of your near future (mine are 22 months, 3 and almost 5).

Gravelly Point depends on the kid- two of mine loved it but one couldn't stand the noise so we've never been back.

East Potomac Park is also pretty good for just strolling around and enjoying the surroundings. Bring some bread, feed some ducks, etc. There's a playground area all the way at the eastern end, I assume your little one is too young for slides and whatnot but it's a nice open area with good scenery, small crowds and no safety risks.

If you want to stay inside and mingle with a bunch of hot moms in yoga pants there's a music/dance thing at Bloombars in Columbia Heights every Monday morning, average age of the kids not much older than your son in my experience, he won't feel out of place.

Great info, thanks.  I did not think about the noise with the planes, but that is a good point.

Thanks for the offer on the zoo. I may have to see how early he is up and we could get out the door. He usually goes down for late morning nap.  So, it's probably going to be a day-of decision on whether to head out before or after the nap.

East Potomac Park could be a winner. It also seems low sunk cost if he has a meltdown and I need to head back.

Yeah, East Potomac Park is an easy one.  And you still get the planes going overhead, just not quite as loud.

For future reference we always do the zoo first thing in the morning if we can, right when they open. No crowds, you can park in the lower lot right by the entrance off rock creek parkway once they open that section back up (currently closed, you have to access through Mt. Pleasant).

Lots of schools have this week off for spring break, so not many will be taking Monday off for a trip to the zoo.

I have a friend with kids and they get Monday off too - FYI. In the Fairfax County/Falls Church school system.
I guess it must just be us out here in Loudoun Co. We had the Friday before off (end of 3rd Quarter workday for teachers) so Monday is the first day back after a longer than normal break.

The zoo on the Monday after Easter is, I am informed by my wife, a DC tradition.  She actually said "a black-DC tradition" so I'm also informed that my wife is kind of racist.
This is useful, thanks.  Not your wife's racism, but the part about it being crowded.  I'll get my rugrats there promptly at 8:30 to avoid the crowds (my damn kids can't remember to put on underwear in the morning but they never forget a promise to go to the zoo).

Hey DC guys...what's the best way for a tourist to get the legal weed? Can the guys on Craigslist be trusted? What about the place that sells the paintings by deaf people and gives you that extra little bonus gift for free? Others?

I just ran a search on the zoo and Easter Monday and the first few articles are about shooting, stabbings, and increased security measures in light of such shootings and stabbings on Easter Mondays in the past.  So, I guess I'm feeling better about no zoo on Monday.

Yeah, if you want your one year old to get away with that stuff, better to go when there's less security presence.

I recommend using High Speed DC juice delivery for next-day service (also you get juice!). You can find them via google. They may also have a same day pickup option if you forget to plan ahead or don't want a guy coming to your hotel or whatever. They are very low-profile; just a regular delivery service, show up during a predetermined three hour window, usually after calling ahead to make sure you're there, and a guy brings you a juice and a small black bag.  The same cannot be said for Kush Gods, who set up somewhere in town most days (follow them on instagram for exact location) and sell out of that location. Those guys do offer a much wider selection though, including edibles.

Or at least that's what my friend tells me.  I've never partaken of the demon weed myself, of course.  My friend also says he's never used the art-related service but has heard it's fairly decent.

Vs Pittsburgh and at Boston Wednesday night and I will be landing at Dulles at 8:30 pm.

Just wanted to explain why I never visit this thread or your area anymore after being there almost a dozen time in three years. She's a hoe, that's why.
