No way Ernie lets Wall play right? Reports say he was able or at least tried to dribble yesterday?
I think even if he can play- which I doubt- he'll put it off until Friday at home. With Wall at 75% at home they're favorites to win Game 6. Wall at 70% on the road still leaves them as the heavy underdogs. I'm just making up those percentages, but if it's something akin to that you don't want to risk the former for the latter.

The flip side is that I don't know if there's much downside long term. I've never heard of someone having a career-ending hand injury. I googled it just now because I was curious and the only example was a golfer.

Yet another monster sports night in DC. Lot of questions to be answered. Can the Nats keep it going with another series win? Will John Wall play? Will the Caps lose in heartbreaking fashion in overtime or in demoralizing fashion by 4 goals? Will anyone show up for the United game?
:oldunsure:
He meant anyone other than Latinos.
We've got a big group going. Planned it a long time ago. :kicksrock:
Enjoy  Maybe be thankful you're being distracted from all the sadness?

You should have known both the Caps and the Wiz would have big playoff games. Happens all the time.

Almost succeeded. Game was awesome. Came back from 1-0 to win 2-0. I love the section my friends sit in. Non-stop singing. Got to the car just in time for the start of OT on the radio. Ugh. Oh, and Saw the Wiz lost. Just now reading about how, so I did miss most of the sadness there. . Caps was a gut punch to a good day. Game 5 was the one that slipped away.

On the plus side, looks like I'll be at game 6 for the Wiz. I've always wanted to see a Skins, Caps, and Wiz game the same week. Game 7 Islanders, DC United today, and Wiz Friday would be pretty awesome. Especially if I keep it undefeated.

Ocelot is doing 2 DC nights in the next week. Tap takeover at The Big Hunt tomorrow night and Meridian Pint the 21st. If anyone in here is looking for a reason to grab a pint any of those nights come say hi.

Absolutely brutal.

Would have been fine with either result. Both teams exceeded expectations to get to this point, and it has to end some time (this is DC sports, after all). But two kicks in the nuts within a 15 minute span just isn't fair.

Wiz aren't dead yet, though. Based on Wall's performance they'll probably be slightly favored to win tomorrow and take it to a Game 7. Hopefully they'll get a great crowd, they deserve it. Especially Wall.

I was pissed the Caps lost but not with how they played.Sure they had a few bonehead plays as all teams generally do but the way they came out in OT and took it to the Rags they deserved a better fate as did Holtby who was simply fantastic all series.

I came away with the feeling I like the direction they are headed.A few questions I had to start the year were answered.

Is Holtby the man? Without question yes

Is Ovie a team leader and good Captain?Without question yes

Is Barry Trotz the man for this job?Without question yes

Do they have their 2nd line C?Without question yes(Kuzy)

Now they have to pay Holtby, let Green walk and bring in a few pieces to compliment what they already have.Future is bright for this team!

As far as the Wiz go I only caught a few moments of the game but did catch the nut punch late.

Some cities never catch a break sports wise, this is one.

and some power forwards are too slow to get a rebound coming right at their hands after a heroic three pointer by pp to go up and a heroic block by a guy with five fractures in his hand

For me Game 5 was the real heartbreaker. 101 seconds away. And the questionable interference call taking a goal off the board late, too. After that one, losing in 7 felt almost inevitable.

The Wizards game and postseason has also been encouraging until the punch to the nuts at the end (Nene had the ball and the game on his fingertips with three seconds left and he just got beasted by Horford). For those who haven't been watching, it finally looks like 2013 #3 pick Otto Porter is going to be a useful piece going forward, and Bradley Beal has suddenly become an excellent off-ball defender. Both things bode well for the future. If you don't love John Wall, you don't love sports. And like I said, they're not quite dead yet. It's been a great series and we get at least one more show.

One or the other would have been painful but kind of expected. Both teams were on the road facing 1 seeds, you can't expect the breaks to go your way in that situation. But one right after the other like that, 13 minutes apart?

Last night was rough, but I guess that's what I signed up for in becoming a DC sports fan.

Blowing the 3-1 lead stings, but pretty happy with the Caps season, all things considered. Trotz was a great hire. Ovie back to being a stud, and Holtby became one. Looking forward to watching Kuzy continuing to develop. (If they could only undo that Filip Forsberg trade...). If you had told me before the season that they'd take the #1 seed to Game 7 in the second round of the playoffs, I'd take it.

And I'm convinced the Wizards would have swept the Hawks if Wall was healthy. Just have to hope he doesn't have swelling or other issues pop up after playing yesterday and can continue playing the rest of the series.

After the Michael Taylor GS (in Bryce's spot to boot) in the Nats game I really had a feeling that it was DC's night - stupid me!

That is cool. Don't think I make it tonight, but I'm a fan of Meridian Pint. Will have to see if I can swing that. I was out at the Air & Space Annex a few weeks ago and was hoping to swing by Ocelot, but spent too much time at the museum and had to head back. Still need to get out there at some point.

should have been at the 930 Club last night but as is always the case when i see lucy teeing up the football, i come a-runnin.

the wall situation and the fact that the wiz have kept in this series playing three without him, is pretty remarkable and makes that a very fun narrative and one that i am not going to let the caps disappointment impact. not crazy about two elimination games, but having pierce in the huddle does add a measure of comfort that would not be there otherwise. for me, i'm talking.

I'm a fan of Meridian Pint also. http://meridianpint.com/...

So is Room 11 http://www.room11dc.com/...

...and so is El Chucho - Cocina Superior https://www.facebook.com/pages/El-Chucho-Cocina-Superior/239994009413803

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find another interesection in DC with 3 such cool spots. They all have great Beverage Programs, and take food seriously without getting too refined (they're all owned and run by people who care about what they're doing).

Highly recommend 11th Street, NW between Park and Lamont to anyone who appreciates good food and drinks and wants to do a 3-for in one night. I don't think you can miss.

That's my neck of the woods. Of course these days when I'm on that block it's usually for the toddler music jams at Bloombars. Next week is no good for me, but maybe a late summer cornhole next time Ocelot is on tap?

@dcsportsbog: Last playoff games for big four DC teams: RGIII injured, Pierce tying shot waived off, Caps lose in OT in Game 7, Aaron Barrett wild pitch

Need advice on nice/inexpensive hotel near Reagan Airport that includes parking.
So I take this to mean that you're flying in, renting a car, and don't care too much about being near a Metro station? How close of a drive do you want to be to the airport?

Do you care about quality? Best Western Pentagon would probably be cheapest somewhat close, assuming you don't care about being walking distance to a metro.

ETA: I enjoy that entering that hotel into Chrome, the first review summary it brings up says: "The room smells like urine but its actually the scent." (And I noticed I skipped over the word "nice" in your post.)

Flying out of Reagan, would like a place to spend the night and keep car there for 7-10 nights. Need decent quality as family will be with. Free parking would be awesome, but not required.

If you look at Pentagon City, or Old Town Alexandria and look at name brand places you should do fine for about $100/night.

Bookings.com picks...If you need Metro, Pentagon city will be closer, however check the hotel to see if they have a shuttle going to a metro station.

HTH

Thanks. I guess we'd prefer something close to airport with an airport shuttle. Don't mind metro, but we'll have kids and a ton of stuff.

Are you renting a car or just using the metro?
Driving my car to Reagan. Want to spend the night as flight out of Reagan is early in AM. Looking for a nice place to crash, as well as a place that provides parking for my car at a much cheaper rate than airport. I'll have young kids and lots of young kid stuff, so airport shuttle preferred over metro, taxi, uber, etc. thanks.

There is parking at the airport. Not sure if a hotel will let you park there for a week if you are not staying there. They have a close 'off-site' parking at the airport that is probably cheaper. Kinda cool that they have the ability to reserve a spot in the lot.

Oh, I get it now!

I generally just use Google Maps and search "hotels". Zoom in on an area and it will show you prices right on the map. It makes it pretty easy to find hotels and you can judge by the name whether it will be decent or not. Crystal City and Pentagon City are pretty much locks to have airport shuttles from each hotel.

Cool Thread...

I'm heading to DC at the end of July for Barca/Chelsea exhibition soccer game. My kids are beyond excited for the game as well as for seeing the landmarks. It's been 10-15 years since I've been to DC... Any good pubs like you guys are mentioning above in the Foggy Bottom section - something for a lunch or late afternoon happy hour where bringing a 10 and 11 year old would be ok? We're staying at the StatePlaza hotel

Traffic has been fun this week.
Teleworking is awesome.
Wave of the future. My work is all over so honestly, I welcome traffic as it gives me more time to listen to my podcasts and audiobooks. I still head home at 3PM no matter where I'm at.
Not sure where you are driving from, but traffic has been relatively good for me this week driving in on 395. Love the Memorial Day to Labor Day commute when many are out on vacations.

Burger Tap & Shake and Tonic are a couple of options around there. Shouldn't be too bad with all those terrible GW undergrads on recess.
