On a top to bottom level how would you rank the overall talent of the New England Patriots?

Worded another way -- and asked separately -- how many teams in the league would Belichick and Pioli swap entire rosters with if they could?

Badly worded. There are more talented rosters that I wouldn't swap for. There are people who would rather have a less talented receiver than Owens, or a less talented tight end than McMichael.

 It was intentionally worded this way! I think people get caught up in this "Patriots are undertalented" stuff and wanted to probe on that.I personally think that top to bottom the Patriots are the most talented team in the league. But it's because they're not top-heavy in talent that people brush it off.

They don't have Brian Urlacher, Jason Taylor, or Champ Bailey on defense but the 11 starters and X backups all together are probably more talented than any other defense out there with the possible exceptions of Chicago and Baltimore. :lmao:

Arguably, only the Ravens and Chargers have a better combination of offensive and defensive talent. Arguably, noone does. I'd say three teams have an overall more talented offense, for certain: Chargers, Colts, Bengals. MAYBE Dallas, New Orleans, Kansas City and Denver. (Baltimore has talent, but I doubt anyone would say they're better)So top 5 most likely, top 10 for sure. Defense? A good argument can be made for Baltimore and Chicago MAYBE Chargers, Miami, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh. So top 5 most likely, top 10 for sure. Top 5 on offense and defense? Only San Diego is also on both lists. Probably #1, absolutely not lower than #5. For the record, I voted top 5.Oh, I'm pretty sure BB wouldnt swap with anyone.

Good poll, as I am tired of hearing how much Belichek gets out of lesser talent... the Pats are extremely talented and shoudl be expected to be a playoff team next year again.

a top 2 NFL QB

one of the better RB 3-somes in the NFL

the 2nd deepest set of TEs in the league

one of the better OL in the league

a top 5 DL, anchored by Wilfork and Seymour

a couple of very good LBs in Vrabel and Colvin

one of the top 5 CBs, a great(albeit dirty and classless) SS

Seems ok to me.

Id say top 5-7 for overall talent.

When are people going to get that almost every team is going to have a HUGE amount of cap space this off-season?

That offense is more system based, run by an unbelievable qb, with parts that fit the system.

But that defense is loaded with talent. Just looking at Seyomor, Ty Warren, and Vince WIlfork should tell you that. Throw im Bruschi, Vrabel, COlvin (who really has come back well from his prior injury with a vengeance), Samuel, Hobbs, and Rodney Harrison. That defense is filled with talented as well as versatile players.

I voted top 5. Their OLine might not have any Pro Bowlers (Mankins is close) but they all play very well together. They are underrated.

Their DLine is EXCELLENT. Their LB's are savvy but getting older. They have some young talented DB's but never can keep them all healthy. The focus has been on Harrison the last few weeks but Eugene Wilson has been out almost the whole year.

Very good young kicker. A couple of first round picks. I think the Pats will be ok.
