The Perfect Draft (need help) (1 Viewer)

I am picking 11th in a 12 team redraft, I enjoyed reading this article alot, but one thing stuck out at me it says to take 2 RB's from the top 14 list before picking a WR like Smith or going Manning. I am suure Willie Parker will be there on the turn for me but do you all agree with this philosophy. Given the lack of Rb's out there I can somewhat agree but I think the backs like Droughns or Chester or even Dillon represent as much value as say Mcgahee or Willie Parker..

I have never won my league going rb,rb, so I was leaning more toward rb,wr, or rb,qb like manning if available, but again this league I have never won alot of smart diehards play in this league

Point System is 6pts per ruhing and receving TD, 6pts per passing TD 1 pt per 25yrds passing 1 pt per 10yrds rushung and receiving no PPR.

Am I wrong in thinking this way

I make decisions based in large part on my scoring system for stuff like this.

In my scoring system for the past 3 years, the #1 WR scores at about the level of RB7. #2,3,4 WR score between RB10-12. Thats easy stuff. The hard part is getting lucky that your WR actually scores in that area. Personally, I dont trust Smith has another huge year like he did in 05. The guy is tiny and we've seen him shut down.

That said, Holt and CJ are guarantees barring injury. I'll take them in the second round unless a RB I really like slides (in a PPR league, give me Westbrook everytime). This year, there are NO guarantees at RB outside the elite. We have a ton of also-rans, RBBC, injuries, etc. that scare me to death. This season, I'll cash in on a top flight receiver if I can.

with the projected dropoff after the first few backs, i would take manning in the very late 1st, or 2nd round if he is available (only if passing touchdowns are 6 pts like you said). i haven't had the greatest luck with going RB/RB/RB in the past, but that's just my experience. i'm pretty sure many people on this board would not agree.

They'll tell you its skill, but luck has a helluva lot to do with it. You pray to get decent production from the #1 back, but last year proved your #2 may be a quicker road to hell than your #1. You can list 10 guys we all targeted through the middle 1st - early 3rd that were absolutely horrid. This year is even worse. There will be a lot of guys from the 5th-12th round that end up starting and gobbling up 1000 yard seasons this year. Prepare and hope one of them pans out - even though it'll look like youre really a genius when they do.

Last year in my league Steve Smith scored the same as Larry Johnson, who was rb 3 behind Alexander and LT.

All td's are 6pts in my league and we have 1 ppr so Qb's are usually the top scorers but here is the top 20 from last year

1. 1. Palmer, Carson CIN QB 357

2. 2. Brady, Tom NEP QB 327

3. 3. Manning, Peyton IND QB 323

4. 4. Manning, Eli NYG QB 291

5. 5. Bledsoe, Drew DAL QB 287

6. 6. Hasselbeck, Matt SEA QB 285

7. 7. Brees, Drew NOS QB 281

8. 8. Collins, Kerry FA QB 277

9. 9. Green, Trent KCC QB 277

10. 10. Delhomme, Jake CAR QB 270

11. 11. Alexander, Shaun SEA RB 269

12. 12. Plummer, Jake DEN QB 260

13. 13. Tomlinson, Ladainian SDC RB 259

14. 14. Johnson, Larry KCC RB 258

15. 15. Smith, Steve CAR WR 258

16. 16. Brunell, Mark WAS QB 255

17. 17. Favre, Brett GBP QB 250

18. 18. Barber, Tiki NYG RB 233

19. 19. McNair, Steve TEN QB 231

20. 20. Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR 227

For me I take the best RB available and whoever you like in the big 3 WR

I just found out the Willie Parker will be the goal-line back so that moves his value up even more and I will take him as the 14th pick overall if he is there for me.

I would feel pretty good with this as my first 2 picks (caddy or lamont and Willie Parker)
