The Portable Dominator (1 Viewer)

Don't mess with Texas
Hello Sharks, I'm currently without my new lappy and it doesn't look like it's going to get here by this weekend for one of my dynasty drafts. So, I will be using one of the owners lappy, I thought how could use the DD without saving any evidence of it's existance (sorry, they don't need to know) so I thought I'd try and make it portable. I've been testing it all day and everything seems to be working fine.

Making it portable allows me to use the DD "WITHOUT" installing it on the computer, I just run it from the thumb drive. I can do mocks and everything that comes with the DD all from the thumb drive, again no installation involved.

The only thing I've notice is that when I save the changes in addition to it being saved on the thumb drive it saves the DraftDominator.ini, PlayerNotes.dat, KeeperList.ddf, (your saved file name).ddf files in the C:/Programs/DraftDominator folder.

So the only thing you'd have to do is go in and delete these files or the entire folder.

I'm not really sure if there is a demand here for the portable dominator, but if the powers that be would like I could send it to Bruce and he could upload it for the subscribers beacuse it is the 8.0j version. I could also do the other programs later and make them all portable.

I will check back in later to see if there is any interest.

Again, you can run this from any computer that has a thumb drive without installing it to the host computer.

I'm out.

Tex

P.S.

I search and didn't see this made, so forgive me if it's already done.

I think you can get around this. You probably installed DD to that folder on your original PC, and then copied the entire DD folder to the thumb drive, yes? Somewhere in the folder, DD probably has a record of where it was installed, and that's why it dumps files there by default. Try installing DD directly to the thumb drive (e.g., D:\DraftDominator if the thumb is the D: drive). Then, as long as it gets the same drive letter on the borrowed laptop, it should write its files only to that location.

1 - Download the program to your thumb drive.

2 - Install the program to the X:\Draft Dominator folder (where X is whatever letter is assigned to your thumb drive).

3 - Save the files to your X:\Draft Dominator folder (should default there if you installed it correctly).

4 - Make sure you copy the required .dll files to your thumb drive (you can find that list in the Apps forum)

You'll have to delete the icons and program shortcuts possibly, but that's all.

along the lines of what i did. post #2 solved the issuee. actually making it portable gives some flexability.
