The Return of Koren Robinson (1 Viewer)

I know he'll be out for the beginning of next season, but the more I think about it, the more I think Green Bay isn't quite so bad off at WR. A trio of Driver, Jennings, and Robinson is quite solid. If they can find a way to improve at TE, this could be a very, very potent offense.

A couple things:

Robinson is certainly a wildcard, but I think Thompson does indeed roll the dice with him again next season.

With Robinson on the horizon, I think Favre's decision to return might be much easier to make. He'll have a pretty good group of experienced receivers.

I think your post should say, "If they can improve at TE, 3 spots on the o-line, quarterback, and running back, they could be a very potent offense."

Robinson will probably screw up agian before next season. I doubt Robinson has any affect on Favre coming back.

Koren Robinson has shown no ability to stop DUI. He will do it again. He's not reliable. His NFL talent will get him another chance though.

The Pack will probably keep him on their roster, but given Robinson's track record, I think the chances of him being able to follow the NFL's Substance Abuse Policy and stay out of trouble, to be Slim & None and Slim just left town.

With the poor play of the Minnesota WRs this year, Robinson could have been a solid performer. Too bad we'll never find out.

KRob could have had a light 'em up game or two, but with Johnson as QB, no way he's having a solid year. Chad Johnson would have been an OK WR2 on this team.

Probably true, although he was starting to come on last year with Johnson at QB.

GB will be a good team next year assuming Farve is back. The secondary still needs some work but that team is coming along a lot nicer than I ever would have imagined.

Well they are in the top ten for yards. Their Oline has only given up 20 sacks. Tauscher has been banged up. They are extremely young. Favre actually vocally criticized the NFL for what happened with Robinson. I would say his return could be a very big help for this team. The maturing of the young players on this team would also be huge. The defense has two very solid corners and their defensive line has forced 35 sacks. Nick Collins is a decent safety finding an adequate replacement for Manuel should also make a big difference.Running back will be this teams biggest hurdle. I just hope they can see that. Favre needs a good receiving running back. This is fairly synonymous with him having a good year.

Zone blocking takes a season to learn. AND they're rookies to boot. The line will be fine next year. If they were bad, or ill-fit, they would be riding pine.

I think you're embellishing just a little. The O line, as already pointed out, has been pretty good. If not for an injury to Tauscher, they'd be even better. Plus, they're young? You think a year working together hurts them next year? A year of getting stronger?

And QB? Nice fishing.

Green's averaging over 4 yards per carry in his first year off surgery. And Morency, is a nice compliment.

Frankly, they're not that bad.

I fail to see how a receiver who dropsied and drank his way off two teams inspires confidence. He got a probowl nod for special teams, wow. So did Alex Bannister and you don't see anyone staving offf retirement for him. He has never proven himself to be a reliable WR, nor as a relliable teammate or human being. He's lucky he isn't in the Leonard Little Vehicular Manslughterer Club and after years of defending him as a Seahawk I can tell you that he CANNOT CATCH THE BALL. I'm sure the Pack will retain his services if not for ST alone but he is so far from a reliable receiver it's laughable.

You sound bitter. Best I can tell, from listening to Favre talk early in the season, is he really thinks Robinson can help this team. He's been a very vocal supporter of Robinson, and I'd guess both Thompson and Favre would welcome him back. As to his history in Seattle. Thompson knows him better than most. And frankly, I was impressed with a few catches Robinson made this season. Favre looked to him in a big spot or two, especially on third and long. Robinson delivered with some nice catches.

I didn't say he'd be a great receiver. But with Driver, Jennings another year experienced, and Robinson? That's a very nice group.

Could not agree with you more here. The haters will dismiss them. That's fine with me. The OLine simply needs to hit the weight room in the offseason. You can tell they are weak compared to the Dlines they're facing. No push whatsoever. But you are spot on about them working together. All the PT this year will only help them next season. If Tuasch comes back, they could be one of the better lines in the league.

Robinson is a wildcard, but he has all the talent.

I think Thompson needs to draft a back on day one however. Green is doing well, but is not getting any younger, and I don't see an heir apparent on the roster.

his skill as a receiver is actually irrelevant. What Favre THINKS of his skill is.

I think if you've actually watched a few of thier games, you'd have a different opinion. Like every QB except Vick and Young, Favre needs time to throw, and when he gets it, he's been pretty good. At TE, David Martin was having a huge year until he hurt his ribs. The O-line's lost Taucher, but I think there's been pretty good progess there. And RB, Ahman has been better than ANYONE could have foreseen. You should see Morency after he gets a few carries. I cant believe this guy was traded to us from Houston, he's looked like a stud, again, when he's not hurt. The future is looking good for the Pack, except at QB. 2-3 years from now, this position scares me.

Koren just needs another chance. None of what has happened to him is his fault. It's all society's fault.

He'll do fine in Green Bay next season. I mean - how many bars can there be in Wisconsin?

That's interesting. I've actually been fairly impressed with Morency. I actually really liked him coming out of college, and felt like he was misused this year in Houston. When he's been given a chance, he's played well in Green Bay. I'm not sure if he can handle a full load, but he's show me enough that I'd like to find out.

Who said that? Fact is, Robinson will be given another chance, by the NFL. Which means another chance by an NFL team. Like it or not, he isn't banned from the league.

Here's what you said "With Robinson on the horizon, I think Favre's decision to return might be much easier to make". Not Jennings or Driver, you were referring to Robinson being the big catalyst for return. I know you mentioned them, but that wasn't your point.I'm not bitter, I'm realistic about it. Favre can think all he wants about it but the fact remains that for every two good catches he has, he will drop one. And don't forget abouyt his history as a Viking, last December he stone handed one into the arms of a defender, ending their chances to win. They counted on him and he failed as he has time and time again.

Holmgren was a very vocal supporter of KR's too, and he cut him. Why? Because KR is a bust. He is a liability. As soon as he lulls you into trusting him with hard catches he'll drop easy TDs and first downs or tip them into the defender's hands. It's what he does. And that's IF he stays sober enough to be allowed onto a football field. You might remember just prior to the season he was reporting back to rehab not for a relapse but to make sure he was "bullet proof". Then another DUI...

And IIRC, Favre also "thought", at the beginning of the season, that this year's Packer team was the most talented of all. Clearly he's a bt off with his assessment of talent.

Yep, that's what I said. Of course, you conveniently left out this part:He'll have a pretty good group of experienced receivers.

Nowhere did I say it's because he's so great. The point was, as I mentioned several times in this thread, that this group of receivers would be pretty good with Robinson. If you're Favre, would you rather break in another rookie, or have Robinson? That's why Robinson is a catalyst for returning. He makes the group better. One more weapon.

As to your point about DUI. He may or may not do something stupid, time will tell. But I'm guessing both Thompson and Favre will welcome him back.

Is he better than Ruvell Martin, Carlysle Holliday, and Chris Francies? Because right now, that's who Green Bay is trotting out there.
