The strikkly casino gambling thread (1 Viewer)

Let me just start off by saying I have been to the casino about 100 times and have won money each and every time..... :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs:

I didn't see a casino thread anywhere, always some fun stories to go around.

My annual casino trip to either Mountaineer or wherever has gone to about 3-4 times a year since Cleveland got the Horseshoe casino. Always a good time, plus a few nice bars to wander to right in that area. Not totally dead with all 70 year olds like Mountaineer.

In fact, I am making a trip there tonight for a couple hours after the Cavs game. In case any of you are there, I wear a t-shirt with my ghost emblem on it about 350 days a year, this being one of them.

Always fun to see some drug dealers dropping 3 grand a hand on Baccarat. Always fun to see panhandlers outside, then an hour later see them inside buying a 4 dollar beer at the casino bar.

Hope this isn't stepping on more toes of the REAL wagering thread, since casino and sports are nothing alike.

I don't think I will see Chain in here telling me that black is 9-2 vs red on roulette, or that Blackjack hits 10% more often when the weather drops below 40 degrees.

What's ur game of choice? What ya play? Post your winning days or your shameful savings dropping days.

Or just make fun of me for 32 pages.

Any casino idiots like me out there?

Friend of mine related to someone the other month that he had thought about me looking sort of tattered but sober, huffing a Marlboro Red, under 21, and hollering for a Keno runner while actively losing hundreds that really I didn't have in a craps game at an NA casino in CNY. This guy now manages money for a living at a, um, non-profit. Said he was in a meeting and all he kept thinking about was me demanding a Keno runner while I lost more money and trying to hit the cash advance machine after. I wonder what investment he was about to make that the memory of me deterred him from.

That's my story. We both pretty much quit gambling after that night. I've never watched such bad luck at a craps table before or since.

Nice.

I miss live Keno. The Ohio Keno blows. Terrible payouts, not worth playing. And you don't get to see the keno spinner and all the balls bouncing everywhere.

Probably gonna take 100 bucks and throw it around the roulette table and walk away a half hour later when it is either zero of a few hundred. Leaning zero.

I like craps. Nice to hit a low limit table and play odds.

I think Horseshoe allows 100x odds!!!!!!!! Yippeeeee.

Hard to pass on some roulette though. Love the ball bouncing all over. Horrid casino advantage.

Love the action around the baccarat tables. Sometimes fun to just stand off to the side with a beer and people watch.

Only if you hate money or can find a single 0 / european table.

If you're going to the casino to play Keno and Roulette you might as well just let me kick you in the sack and take your money to get it over with. If you're worried about the comps I'll leave you a 6pk of Heineken and a half pound of snow crap legs.

One time I was playing craps in an IL casino. $5 table, and the table was hot and cold. A high roller comes to the table with about $50K (impressive brick of $500/$100/$25 chips) and starts playing and after about 1 hour, he was down at least 10K.

Dice come to me. I place my $5 chip on the pass line. The high roller put $100 down on the pass line, gets a drink from the cocktail waitress but she forgets to accept his red $5 chip as a tip. So the guys says "whatever", and puts the $5 chip on the Yo. I roll the Yo on the comeout, high roller wins $75. He says "screw this....we're going to go for the big score here"......and lets the entire $75 ride on the Yo, upping the bet to $80. I roll the Yo again on the comeout. High roller wins $1200. He takes back $1000 and ups the Yo bet to $200......................................and........................

I ended up rolling FIVE consecutive Yo's on the come out roll. Odds of that happening are about 1 in 1.8 million. The table was going nuts. Everyone at the table has at least a $1 bet on the Yo by the 3rd roll.

The high roller won about 15K on five rolls of the dice. I ended up making 4 passes before my roll ended, and held the dice for at least 30 minutes. High roller won an additional 10K or so on the rest of my roll.

High roller comes up to me and slips me a purple $500 chip and thanked me for saving his night. Then the cocktail waitress comes back and the guy tells her that he forgot her tip.......gave her a black $100 chip.

Told me at the time he was down over $25K and he was now just down a little, and he was getting the heck out of there before the dice turned cold again.

I did too.

Sounds like a great night. Great craps stories >>> All other table game stories.

Nice. Gotta love when you randomly play some winners with a high roller who wins based on your words/actions. They seem to always give ya a little somethin somethin.

Guy in vegas betting two foot stacks of chips on 17 on roulette. Bet the same amount (like 200 or so) each turn, but just had to stack chips rather than put down a couple 100s. Dealers said the guy did this for about 6 hours a day for over a week straight. Dude looked like Danny Davito, which made it so much sweeter.

They let me film the guy with my phone with him screaming things like "17 Blaaaaack" and "you must have PAATIIEENCEEEEEE!!!" at the top of his little lungs.

I talked him into putting his drink on top of the chip stack. Of course it falls, the chips fall everywhere, game paused for 15 minutes to clean up the drink and chips.

Dude never hit for the couple hours I was there. Damn.

strikkleee yep. Only true odds payout in the whole place right?

I can't wait to read the thread on casino etiquette.

read a few posts on it before I leave here in a bit.

A-Ron, no, you didnt do anything wrong at all.

The ##### didn't even give you the chance to maybe put up a few bets for her, which you MIGHT have, unless she won on that first hand.

##### and that other dude were total D-bags. You are there for fun, not to make money (at least I sure hope not). If your actions actually affected the odds, then he could be mad. But they don't.

Yeah I have seen several people (especially on blackjack) that get pissed if you come in and play in between shuffles, or if you just play a few hands then leave. Some dude wanted to fight me over this when I was like 22 years old and I had absolutely no idea that this apparent gambling etiquette existed. I still don't follow it much. I don't like to sit in one spot and play for a long time. I like to bounce around a bit. I feel like too much of a degenerate to sit at a blackjack table for an hour playing over and over.

I've always wondered who these high roller people really are. Like what percentage are legit #### off wealthy that can "play" with 50k+ and not blink, or are most 1 bad hand away from BK and have serious gambling problems.

Played $5 a hand blackjack for 8 hours straight and lost $20. The drinks were free, which was nice.

i have decent luck - truly that - with roulette. i tend to play maybe 2 out of the the 3 "thirds". it's a grind system, i know, but whatever.

I can one up this one for sure. Go to keno area. Grab server and order multiple drinks after playing 5 $1 tickets at keno. Tip her 20 bucks and tell her to keep them flowing. I guarantee you will be drunk I'm one hour. Eta: brother won 850 bucks last te we did this. Only one that was positive for the trip.

I would say very few if any are near BK. They would already be BK if that was the case.

Last night sucked for luck. I think I broke some standard deviation rules for what SHOULD happen with the bets I made.

Is there a free craps game/simulation somewhere online to practice on?

I also like doing the penny slots. Free spins, mother ####er!

I was in Vegas one year with the Mrs Fightingillini........it was the end of our trip and after 4 days of gambling, we were down about $300. We were walking through the Excalibur casino floor, and wife wants to play a few more hands of video poker before we leave. About 10 hands in, she puts in max credit in a 25 cent machine. First two cards were A :club: K :club: and three other rags. She kept the Ac Kc and drew.......and the cards came Q :club: , J :club: , T :club: , in the exact order. :excited:

ROYAL FLUSH. Machine starts ringing non stop.......wife is stunned..........I was like........ :moneybag: . People all over came over to congratulate the wife. Casino boss comes over and gives a slip to wife and we cashed out for $1000. Not bad for a bet of $1.25

Ended the trip up $700 :thanks:

KO is solid. I'm using Speed Count, which doesn't perform as well as other systems, but is easy to do while shammered.

Most of the good stories pre-date my efforts at advantage play. The best time I ever had in a casino was the Saint's first game back in the Superdome after Katrina. :bowtie:

How long ago was this? I've hit that and have buddies hit it for more on higher bets. Nobody flinches and they only bring you a slip if its considered taxable income.

Hey anyone ever see this anywhere? I was at Cleveland Horseshoe and played some craps. After a few rolls I realized something was different, and I was playing "crapless craps".

Apparently there was no don't come line, and the numbers on the board went from 2-12. I guess when you are on the pass line you can not "crap out". If a 2,3,or 12 comes, you can still win if that numbers comes before a 7. I don't think you win with an 11 on the pass line though.

I was trying to figure out if there is even any house edge at all on the pass line given you do not lose when a 2 or 12 hits.

going to ac in a few weeks for the first time in a while. Looking forward to some blackjack. Doubt I'll sniff $5 tables on a sat night but really hoping for a tenner or at worst a fifteener. $25 tables are too steep for me. 4 bad hands and you're down 100.

House edge on the pass line bet in Crapless Craps is 5.382%. Link
I can't read it cause at work here a lot is restricted.

That seems awfully surprising. What is the house edge normally, and why is it MORE on crapless craps? I know you don't win on 11 (but you CAN), and you dont lose on 2,3, or 12.

Back in the day I was playing crapless craps with a girlfriend at Bob Stupak's Vegas World. ( Remember the solar system themed casino?)

Anyway it's my girl's turn to throw the dice at a packed table. We've both got a measly $5 on the pass line. She promptly throws snake eyes on the come out. I start laughing at her when she takes odds. The whole table is taking odds on 2! I was having none of that. Some old timer next to me tells me to have a little faith in my girlfriend, and throws a $5 chip behind my pass line wager so I'm taking odds too.

Sure as ####, her very next roll is a TWO. Back to back snake eyes. The table explodes with a cheer, we get paid 8 to1 on the odds bet. I wonder what the true odds are?

Still, no idea why the pass line house edge is higher on crapless craps than regular craps.

Only difference I see is that you still can win with 2/3/12 but dont win with an 11. That alone should make the house edge less, so what am I missing?

Ok I read up on it some on my phone, still seems strange. Yes you are taking away the automatic win on 11, but you are also taking away the automatic loss on a 3.

Someone help me out here, my idiot brain isnt computing this.

Normal craps 3 and 11 cancel out so we just figure the expectation from 2 and 12 as our baseline.

(1/36) (-1) + (1/36) (-1) = -(1/18) ~ -.0505

Do the same now for crapless craps. 2 and 12 will be the same as will 3 and 11.

2 and 12: 2*{ (1/36) [(1/7) (1) + (6/7)(-1)] } = (1/18) (-5/7) = -5/126

3 and 11: 2*{ (1/18) [(2/8) (1) + (6/8)(-1)] } = (1/9) (-1/2) = -1/18

Adds up to -12/126 ~ .09ish

My math and stats skills that I have not used since 1999 can't compute this anymore.

I suppose I will just have to take the word of everywhere I have read and just accept it, and not play this stupid game.

Really though, just seems better for the player on the surface. Sure, ya don't win on 11 but you don't lose on 3, which is the same odds of happening as an 11. Then you still have some life on 2/12.

I think I officially hit the point where my excellent math skills are probably closer to the average these days. Well, average of college grads I would say, which is still probably not very good.

Happy to say I took a grand from Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh last Saturday night. As a Clevelander, it was double the joy.

Then my brother got kicked out for being too drunk and stupid. Probably good timing.

.............................and I do now realize why crapless craps is worse. Although it is ok if the limit is low (maybe 5 bucks) and they offer up to 10x odds or more. Otherwise, definitely not playing that one over the regular.

I have a couple of gambling stories, even though I don't go that often. Before I had our baby, my husband and I would go to Vegas twice a year. We usually played a lot of blackjack, but when we want to drink for cheap we would go play Pai Gow. On our first trip to a Vegas we went to the Palms and were playing Pai Gow. We sit down and he is playing like 50 a hand and I am playing the minimum, which was like 10 or 15 dollars. In the first 14 hands I won 10 and pushed the other 4. Before the next hand an older Asian gentleman taps on my shoulder and asks if he can play on my hand or something like that. I ask my husband and he says let him, he may tip you if you keep winning. So he hands me a chip and I look at it and it is a 5000 dollar chip, I get so nervous I dropped the chip in my drink. After I cleaned it off and placed the bet, I get my hand and get queen high and lose. I felt horrible and turned bright red, the man says nothing and proceeds to watch me win the next hand. So he taps me on the shoulder again and this time hands me two 5000 dollar chips. I place the bet again and and this time get king high and lose again. He walks away unfazed and I feel like I am going to throw up, but we kept playing and I go on to win 5 of the next 6 hands and push the other one.

Another time playing Pai Gow we seen a guy hit 5 aces which pays 400 to 1 on the bonus bet. Which he wasn't playing, but we were and they have an envy bonus so my husband and I each got 250 dollars for him getting that hand and he got nothing since he didn't even win the hand.

I would have tipped the guy no less than a penny.

When the Harrah's properties first came-up with the Fire bet on craps, my wife and I were in the Rio. Last night of a 4-day weekend pre-kids. The dice came to her and we threw a combined 3 bucks on the Fire Bet -- complete throw-away wager. She starts rolling. And she rolls. And she rolls. And she rolls. Without a doubt the longest roll I've ever personally seen ever. She hit all of the points except "5", plus at least a half-dozen repeats. The table was 3-deep because everyone has been cheering their asses off for 40+ minutes, like only happens at the Craps table. She hadn't rolled a "5" yet -- literally not a one. Folks had been betting the Come line with the Pass line for her entire roll, there were mountains of chips on every number EXCEPT the 5. They were 2 valleys in the middle of the mountains. She comes out with a 5. The table lost its collective minds. The very next roll the dice settle and this woman is looking down at them in the corner, she looks up with a look of complete and utter euphoria, I'll never forget it. "5". That place frigging exploded. A couple on the other side of the table each had $5 on the Fire bet. Everyone had made a fortune, even without betting the Fire. I don't even remember how quickly the roll ended after that, but it was pretty quick. Between us we had won about $2000 on just the roll (and we're grinders -- $5 with Odds). With the Fire bet it pushed us to $5000.00. Tips flooded in to push it to around $5500. She had to fill out paperwork for the payout. Best part? It was about midnight and we had a 6:30 am flight -- no time to piss it away. Back to the room for crazy sex, a shower, and to the airport.

Easily the best night in a casino in my life.

This is the 6/5 Blackjack of the Craps world..... Terrible game.
