The worst pick you have seen so far (1 Viewer)

Some of these picks are ######ed. I play in a serious 12-team high stakes league that won't allow morons to play. But this year a guy who has been in the league for 5 years took Cutler in the 4th round... I mean you can like Cutler, but he would have been there at least another 2 rounds, no question about it.
Apparently not.

Local, 12 teamer, keep 0-6.

18.03 Ainge, Erik NYJ QB

Granted it was late in the draft but there were definately better options still there. And to make it even worse, the guy already had:

(Keeper) Anderson, Derek CLE QB

7.10 Garrard, David JAC QB

11.10 Ryan, Matt ATL QB

13.10 Jackson, Tarvaris MIN QB

Money league with coworkers: Anthony Gonzalez goes in the first. Matt Forte in the 2nd. to the same team!

Brandon Marshall at 5.12 in a PPR league
He said the worst, not the best, lol.
Great pick except the same guy had taken him at 3.12 already.I've seen people mistakenly take people who've been picked before, but never someone who was already on their roster.... in the first 5 rounds of a draft.
ok now that is funny
 'why not say that in the original post?sounds fishy

12 team money league, rookie owner had several head scratchers...

San Diego D late in the 3rd (Def#1), then backed them up with NE D (Def#2) in the 5th. When walking to the board for the NE pick he said something about "trade bait"

Then he took Gostkowski (K#2) in the 10th, and with his very next pick took Phil Dawson (K#3). he said something about Dawson being awesome.

We gave out an award for the worst pick for the first time this year. He won. We just couldn't decide which of the above picks was worthy of the award. We finally decided on the back to back kickers.

The guy swears he is going to win the Championship, even though his RB2 is Leon Washington (we give some points for return yards). He does have Brady so he has a shot I guess.

Our award is named the Big Ben award for when an idiot former-owner took Big Ben two years ago with the 1.02 pick, when he could have had anyone except LT. He was so proud of the pick too, until he saw us all with our jaws dropped/laughing our asses off.

Only read the first few but I think this is the funniest. And the pick was really late but funny none the less. The guy selects Jonathon Hayes - TE for the Bengals. He already drafted Utecht earlier in the draft and everyone was wondering A) who the guy was and B) why he's drafting another Bengals TE. He says, "according to this <referring to a fantasy Mag> he's number one on the Bengals Depth Chart at TE." So the draft continues.

A couple rounds later the guy stands up and says, "I might as well admit to this now because when you go to start entering salaries into the system you are going to find out that Jonathon Hayes is <Link to Jonathon Hayes>"

An owner took Rudi Johnson at pick 3.06 in a 12 team league after he drafted running backs in the first two rounds. I was equal parts shocked and happy.

In another 12 teamer, a guy drafted Travis Henry in the 13th round. And in an auction I did on Tuesday, a guy nominated Kyle Orton (and, of course, got him for $1). That was a name I did not expect to see put out there.

A guy in my 14 team redraft league took Randy Moss a 1.05. He followed that pick up at 2.10 with....

QB Brady Quinn :bag:

I'm thrilled that he's in my division

QB: V.Young, B.Quinn

RB: MJD, Ricky Williams, Cadillac Williams, Ladell Betts

WR: Moss, Mark Clayton, Devin Thomas, Chad Jackson (Start 3)

TE: Desmond Clark, Bubba Franks

K: Suisham, Gramatica

Def: Dallas, Washington

I think he took the Williams' in the 4th and 5th round. Picks like that helped me get Michael Turner in the 6th.

He should have just forfeited his picks from round 2 through 15 and picked up some guys at the end of the draft. Maybe he could have had some free beer out of the deal or something. Most people could build a team off of a free agent list and beat this team.

In one of my money leagues somebody picked brett favre with the second overall pick (1.2), and then they spent their next pick (2.11) on lavernous (sp) coles.

I'm in a low stakes work league. New job, get invited into the league, everyone in the department is always talking football so I prepare pretty heavily. 12 team redraft, 16 rounds, no PPR, passing = 4pts TD, 1pt/25yds. Start 2 WR with RB/WR/TE Flex.

Where do I even start. Well we had the "WTF Guy" who was making great VBD picks, and I'm thinking wow this is the guy to beat...then all of a sudden things take a turn. At 8.03 and 9.10 he drafts....Kurt Warner/Jon Kitna, in that order. As a point of reference I pick up Garrard/Young at 12.10/14.10. The rest of his draft was solid.

We also had the "QB Guy" who drafted Brady (1.05), Cutler (7.05) and Delhomme, but has Anthony Gonzales as WR2 and only Desean Jackson to back him up.

I get the Vikes as the 8th defense off the board, with Seattle and Philly going before them. My TEBC of Zach Miller/LJ Smith would've gone completely undrafted if I hadn't picked them up. Yes, TE Anthony Fasano was drafted before both of them, by the "Reach for the Sleepers" guy who also took Tim Hightower (15.02), Correll Buckhalter (14.11) and Ahmad Bradshaw (11.02).

Oh and I almost forgot, three auto-drafters have the third, fourth, and fifth strongest teams. I felt like I brought a gun to a knife-fight with my cheatsheet.

A few years ago the guy that had 12th pick in our 12 team league picked Tony Gonzalez and Baltimore Defense as the 12th and 13th picks overall...one guy was laughing so hard that he fell down...we made everyone promise not to tell any outsiders about it in fear that it would ruin our league's credibility. Same guy took Steven Jackson over Tomlinson last year for the 1st pick.
Someone leaked the info to the public. Your league is a joke in Massachusetts now.

Someone did that this year in SSL IV.

16 team, redraft league. League is old and sharky. We draft last night, the last night before the season starts.

McFadden at 1.7

Thats right.

1.7

And considering that i went Brady/portis 1.16 and 2.1, there was value on the board. (with our scoring and playing team Qbs, QBS were 6 of the top 10 scoring players last year in this league)

1.7??? Isnt he a raider?

Eli Manning at 2.2 NO JOKE! I yelled out "are you f'in kidding me?" at Buffalo Wild wings and everyone in the restuarant stopped what they were doing!

Yahoo startup draft last Sunday and this was the first round....

Round 1

1. LaDainian Tomlinson Playmakers

2. Brian Westbrook Double Trouble

3. Adrian Peterson Carolina Crush

4. Steven Jackson gotskillz

5. David Garrard Bware94

This is a work/friend draft so this person wasn't messing around...maybe smoking or drinking...hahaha

12 team league - starting roster spots below in my sig:Matt Leinart 4th roundEli Manning 2nd round
The team in your sig can't possibly be real. A 12 team redraft? Were the other teams picking arena football players?
:lmao: I wouldn't even want to play in that league. that doesn't make you look skilled.. itmakes you look like you snuck into your 6yo son's FF league. What's the point?
Its a 12 team COMPETITIVE league. Yes, I know my roster is stacked, for two reasons:1. We drafted almost a month ago, and I guess I did more research than others (i.e. before all the CJ2, Chris Johnson, and Kurt Warner hype).I've made 4 trades so far - two of the trades were to owners who needed a 2nd starting QB because they only had one (we start 2 QB in our league) and I loaded up on QBs in the draft, so I would trade a bum starting QB for an upgrade at another position. Basically I traded some depth for upgrades to my starting roster.

Last night in my 10-team redraft, Jamal Lewis at 1.07 before Jackson, Lynch, T.O., Gore, Portis, Brady, Romo, and Brees. Also, the guy with #1 and LT on the 2/3 turn took LJ (ok) then McNabb at 3.1.

three QBs went before Brady in the first round - Peyton went second, Brees fifth, and DNabb eighth, before Brady finally went ninth
No Romo in the top 4? You're killin' me.

Call me crazy but I don't think you should be degrading his picks and bragging up yours. I'd gladly have the Warner/Kitna combo over Garrard/Young any day, even if I had to take them 4 rounds earlier.

4 rds earlier ? That's insane, especially if it's a 4 pt per td passing.

 My first thought when I read "Jonathan Hayes" is whether he might be the son of the Iowa TE I watched as a kid in the 1980s. Little did I know that it WAS the Iowa TE in the 1980s! That is awesome.

A few in our 12 team "shark" redraft this year..

Jake Delhomme in the 3rd round

Kevin Smith in the 3rd (much better backs on the board)

DeSean Jackson in the 5th

Nick Folk in the 7th

Fred Taylor with Pick 3.01 in a 10-teamer (team in sig). Then the same guy took Marvin Harisson with 5.10. He put the cherry on top taking Fargas with pick 7.10.
I've taken Harrison earlier than that. It's a pure gamble pick but I figured of all the gamble picks, he's the name someone would jump on. I handcuffed him with Gonzalez 6 rounds later.Same draft was a 3 keeper league. One team kept no one (could have kept Moss, Edwards, and Gates or Megatron) so they had 3 compensatory picks and got pick 1 - Drew Breespick 3 - Minnesota defensepick 7 - Andre Johnson
