PORTAGE, Wis. (AP) — Upset that his 7-year-old son wouldn't wear a Green Bay Packers jersey during the team's playoff victory Saturday, a man restrained the boy for an hour with tape and taped the jersey onto him.

Mathew Kowald was cited for disorderly conduct in connection with the incident with his son at their home in Pardeeville, Lt. Wayne Smith of the Columbia County Sheriff's Department said. Pardeeville is about 30 miles north of Madison.

The 36-year-old Kowald was arrested Monday after his wife told authorities about the incident. Kowald was taken to the county jail and held until Wednesday, when he pleaded no contest, paid a fine of $186 and was released.

Kowald's wife filed a restraining order Wednesday, so Kowald will not be able to have contact with his family, Smith said. Smith said other domestic issues have surfaced, though he wouldn't elaborate.

The boy refused to wear the jersey Saturday, when the Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks in a playoff game, Smith said. Smith said the incident sounded strange when reported at first, but the mother took pictures with her cellphone and that type of evidence is difficult to dispute.

No there are just idiots out there no matter what team they root for. This comes down to parenting skills not what team colors you wear.I'm a diehard Packer fan and have 3 sons that are age 11,8, and 6. We do wear Packer gear on game days and other days, and sit around the TV and watch the games together. If they get bored during the game we will do other things since they are more important than anything else in the world to me.

My 8 year old son is becomin a huge fantasy fan as he helps me prep for the drafts and keeps score during the games for me. He asked me once what I was doing and when I explained he jumped into it and has become another bond with the two of us.

That explains why the Colts lost.

I guess I should have worn my Peyton Manning jersey. :lmao:

Or no...wait...maybe there were too many people wearing LT jerseys for it to matter. Do you think it's a balance thing????? Wait, wait - if it were a numbers thing wouldn't cities like NY, Chicago and LA win all the time??

Maybe if all of the Colts fans had gone to church that morning...oh, no wait, what about the Saturday games??????

Oh ####.

So what should I do if I'm pulling for the pack and don't have a jersey? Will any green and yellow work? Do I have to eat cheese...whilst at church, praying for Vince Lombardi to intercede? Should I drink out of Packer cup? Will that work if it's beer that wasn't brewed in Wisconsin????

Someone please send the brilliant father to my house to teach me the ways of the Packer fan!!

:)
