Opened with a heavy note. The rest is goofy as normal. Don't give up hope.
Good on you for offering an ear. You're a stand up guy Joe.
Sadly, I will be attending the memorial service for my friend and coworker this morning who committed suicide a week ago. We all knew he was struggling and asked him how he was doing, but we were also quick to accept his "I'm fine" as a good enough answer and continue about our days.
Max, my condolences. Is this the younger man you worried about at times on this board?
Sadly, no. I saw an old face at the memorial service who was/is best friends with the other guy (Nick). Things haven't been going great for Nick lately either. His drinking got him fired earlier this year and our contact has been inconsistent since. He's had a couple stints with rehab, but is currently off the wagon. Tough situation to stay on top of because as soon as he's alone he goes back into binge drinking every time. He's literally drinking himself to death. His family keeps tabs on him as best they can, but someone committed to that lifestyle is hard to stop.
A couple guys from the team were reaching out to him today. I'll give him a call tomorrow and check in as well.
Thanks for the kind words and concerns for a fellow man. It's difficult stuff.
