Not as brutal as "Favre Watch". Thank God that's over with.Agreed. Please for crying out loud someone, anyone, sign Payton Manning. I can't tell you how tired I am of hearing about the "Manning sweepstakes." Brutal.
Funny, a local sports radio host here in Philly keeps ranting about how it's exactly like LeBron. While growing a tad bit tired of the Peyton Manning free agency courtships, I am very glad it's not like the LeBron James farce. Otherwise, I am enjoying this offseason and the player movement.
He's wrong. Lebron is an arrogant #####. Peyton is not. Peyton is just going about his business, not creating a special show for his own glory. he can't help it he was cut and teams are courting him like the HOF'er that he is.Funny, a local sports radio host here in Philly keeps ranting about how it's exactly like LeBron. While growing a tad bit tired of the Peyton Manning free agency courtships, I am very glad it's not like the LeBron James farce. Other than the WR's and some O-linemen with some backups sprinkled in, this FA period has been extremely boring to me. No RB's other than Hillis (backup) has signed. No QB's, other than backups, have signed (though Henne should be the starter in Jax). And no IDP's other than backups have signed. No news anywhere due to this stupid Peyton watch. "Peyton MAY SIGN with one of the 30+ teams in the NFL!!!" No #### Sherlock media people.Actually, I find it quite fascinating. The drastic number of players moving/switching teams, etc. is similar to last years frenzy due to the lockout. The funny thing is the "frenzy" seems similar this year even though there was no lockout. It's almost like last year chenged the thought process about what this time period would look like - in some ways it's for the better (well, at least more interesting).

There are more free agents this year. Next year, it should go back to the normal amount.Actually, I find it quite fascinating. Oh sure, there were the occasional big-name free agents that might come up - but it just seems more prevelant now. Maybe I am wrong - but it sure feels that way to me.
we're still only 90+ hours in. The Rbs were all 2nd tier; otherwise some of them would have homes now. Flynn hasn't signed due to the Manning thing. I think it has been really interesting. I am still eagerly watching to see where all the RBs go. To me, it's good times before late April.Other than the WR's and some O-linemen with some backups sprinkled in, this FA period has been extremely boring to me. Excellent post.Sure beats last offseason.I'm loving it because we're hearing about actual football players, positions, and team possibilities; & not a potential lockout. Last spring I didn't realize what we were missing."Hope springs eternal" in FA. It sure beats no offseason.
That's ok. Would have likely been busted by now.I didn't even get around to filling out a Bracket for the tourney this year because this offseason has been so interesting for me and Im trying to keep up and figure out all the implications of the moves. Just proving again how the NFL is > every other sport right now for me.
Was it Missinelli? Because he's a LeBron apologist and wants to prove everyone else is just as bad or that its not a big deal.Funny, a local sports radio host here in Philly keeps ranting about how it's exactly like LeBron. While growing a tad bit tired of the Peyton Manning free agency courtships, I am very glad it's not like the LeBron James farce. Not the same thing but as a comparison the regarded greatest QB of all time was traded with a scrub and a 3rd round pick for a 1st(18th) after a a injury marred year at age 36HOF QB hitting FA for the first and likely only time. He's not going to jump at the first offer. Relax guys
Hit the nail on the head. I didn't say he was right, just that he was saying it. I think it's ridiculous too.Was it Missinelli? Exactly. It's been lots of fun, and great for FF (Look at it this way - even Garcon and Meachum owners are stoked.)This has been a terrific off-season.
Outside of Peyton I don't really see much of a difference.2010 had some big names moving around like Julius Peppers, Karlos Dansby, Antrel Rolle, Kyle Vanden Bosch, and Dunta Robinson among many others.2009 had guys like Ladainian Tomlinson, Brian Dawkins, Joey Porter, Jake Delhomme, TJ Houshamazilly, Derek Anderson, Antonio Bryant, and Keith Brooking. It also had the trades of Jay Cutler and Matt Cassel, which were huge at the time.I think this year has just been more FF related than years past because there are more quarterbacks and WRs, but from an NFL standpoint it's not that big of a difference. Pierre Garcon gets more attention here because he affects FF, but he's not nearly as big a FA signing from an NFL standpoint as guys like Peppers or Dansby were. It's almost like last year chenged the thought process about what this time period would look like - in some ways it's for the better (well, at least more interesting). Before last year, I don't rmember such a large number of players moving from team to team. You're right, Peyton Manning is the difference. All this hype and none stop coverage about where he is going to land is mind numbing. I get it that it's a big story, but it seems to be the ONLY story anyone in major media wants to talk about. I can't wait until it's over with.Outside of Peyton I don't really see much of a difference.2010 had some big names moving around like Julius Peppers, Karlos Dansby, Antrel Rolle, Kyle Vanden Bosch, and Dunta Robinson among many others.2009 had guys like Ladainian Tomlinson, Brian Dawkins, Joey Porter, Jake Delhomme, TJ Houshamazilly, Derek Anderson, Antonio Bryant, and Keith Brooking. Your right Lebron is a bit of a jerk but what he did outside of the show is the same thing every free agent including manning did. He's wrong. Lebron is an arrogant #####. Peyton is not. Funny, we don't seem to be hearing a whole lot about that. Calvin had about half a day of the national media's attention with his huge contract. Mario got about the same. It is all about Peyton.Mario Williams just signed the first $100 million contract ever for a defensive player. It's not all about Peyton.

I don't understand your issue. First, Manning has done a bit more in the NFL than Mario and Mario signed with Buffalo, not real shocking that Peyton is getting more attention than Mario. Second, how much news is Calvin re-signing with the team he already plays for with an extension. It is a big $$$ extension, hence the national attention, but pretty sure everyone expected Calvin to play 2012 in Detroit. This is what I expected. That doesn't mean I have to like though.'duaneok66 said:what did you expect??'jurb26 said:Funny, we don't seem to be hearing a whole lot about that. The problem is that people are criticizing LeBron because of the show. There is no "what he did outside of the show".Also, the Colts cut Manning. The Cavs offered LeBron a max deal. Another big difference.'Nagle2998 said:Your right Lebron is a bit of a jerk but what he did outside of the show is the same thing every free agent including manning did. He's wrong.
