Thoughts on a Mulligan Dynasty League (1 Viewer)

For the last few years, I've had this idea of doing a dynasty league that had mulligans. We all know at least a couple of times a year, we start the wrong guy, while someone on our bench goes off, and in some cases, it costs us a win. Well I am thinking about doing a "Mulligan" league where each team will have a limited amount of Mulligans for the entire year (maybe 1-5) where if after Sunday's games are over, if they picked the wrong starter, they could have the commish substitute that bench player for the least productive starter. I think it would definitely add an element of strategy, do you use your few mulligan's early? Wait until that playoff run towards the end of the regular season? Hope you make the playoffs and utilize them there? I currently commish 10 leagues at MFL and really wanted to do something different and think this would be a lot of fun. If you're interested in joining up, please PM or shoot me an email at cscmtp@hotmail.com. Thanks!

League Specs:

12 teams

BBID Waivers

22 roster spots

Start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1 RB, WR, or TE flex, 1K, 1D

League fees somewhere between $100-$500 (interested owners can state their preference, we'll go with the majority)

4 Interested owners to far...8 more needed.

would your current opponent have the option of using a mulligan to counter yours for the same game, would need a rule to cover that scenario

in other words your mulligan could win you the game but your opponent has a mulligan that would cover that mulligan too

also, could you use multiple mulligans per game

Well I am absolutely open to ideas from the owners who end up joining the league, but in my mind, each team would have 1, 2, maybe 3 for the entire year. So its up to each owner WHEN they choose to use that Mulligan. But you'd have to use it by Monday morning, or before Monday night's game. So there would still be some strategy there too. But yes, in theory, two teams playing that weekend could both use a mulligan to increase their chances of winning. Hadn't thought about using more than one mulligan on a given weekend, but I see no reason why not. But again, I'm open to ideas from all the league members.

I guess the strategy would be to see who is on your opponents bench, and see if he can out-mulligan you before you use one. Not that bad of an idea, if kept to 1-3 per season.

exactly. Plus, if you only have a few to use all year, do you risk waiting until late in the season, during the playoff push, or wait until you play your division opponents? Lots of potential strategies IMO.

For those that are interested in this league, please do PM or email your preference for total number of total mulligans as well as your preference for league fees. Thanks!

I am strongly considering

I like

--7 mulligans for the year

--can use multiple mulligans per week

--do like idea of doing before mondays game

--would like to see roster size be 25 instead of 22

Lets see what happens

No. All mulligan's must be declared/used BEFORE MNF kickoff. That just adds further risk (no guarantee you'll even win if you use a mulligan on a Sunday player if the other team has some MNF players)

Okay, I've actually got 10 that are interested, but may end up doing 2 leagues, one smaller in fees ($100-$150 range) and one more like $300 or so...

You can count me out of any of these leagues. After doing my homework, there are alot of people out there who don't have very good things to say about you commish and I don't know what is true or not, but I am going to pass.

that's funny, I did my homework on you too, and based on who you "roll" with, I think its best you don't join any of my leagues either. And I've got 10 leagues full of active members who can gladly vouch for how my leagues have run the last 5+ years.

Why all the negativity - I have played in one of this commishs leagues for 5 years now without ever having a problem personally - of course, this is just my perspective but I thought I would chime in.

Folks always need to decide who they want to play with or not - some message board postings need to be read with a very descriminating eye so as to weed out personal battles :coffee:
