Thoughts on Sproles... (1 Viewer)

I've seen lots of questions being raised about Sproles possible decreased role this year in NO due to a probable increase in Ingram's role.

Considering this possibility where would you rank Sproles this year in leagues with points for return yards AND PPR?

I dont think Sproles numbers are in any danger at all, and I dont see him leaving the field that often.Especially in return leagues where hes pretty much locked in for Kicks and Punts.

With just 87 rushes all season, he was the #3 RB in my 0.5 PPR return yardage league. Dude is extremely underrated in this type of scoring system.

In my fantasy sports draft, sproles is highly valued because running backs get 1 point per reception, plus 1 pt per 10 receiving yards, so his value is highly increase due to the number of receptions he will have.

Picked him ahead of McFadden and AP in a big money league this past weekend, 2nd round.

1 PPR, 1 yard per 20 return yards.

He is my RB 1, which is hard for me to swallow, but his role in that offense is profound, and the return yards made him RB 3 in that league last year.

Is he still a first rounder in a 1pt ppr league that awards 1pt per 50yds on returns?

Where would you take him? 1st or 2nd?

0.5ppr, 1 pp 20 rush/rec yds, 1 pp 30 ret yds, 6 pp TD....can't decide whether to take him in the first or second...i want rodgers/brees/brady (6 pp passing TD), so i think i'll have to grab one of them in the first, but i definitely want sproles in the second

True. I guess it all depends what draft pick you have. If you have 10-12 and those guys are off the board as they should be, do you take Sproles? I'm also in a league QBs get 6pts TD.

That seems very minimal, if he get 1000 return yards again thats only 20 extra points. I wouldn't draft him in the first with that scoring.

Disregarding return yardage, Sproles got about 15 ppg in .5 ppr leagues. 4.5 ppg came on the ground, 10+ ppg through the air.

I just don't see his receiving going down much, maybe his receiving TDs a bit (he had 7). He should average at least 3 carries a game (he got 5.5/g last year).

His value will depend on his TD total. He had 9 last year, that is about 3.5 ppg from TDs. If he gets only 4 TDs, he is losing about 2 ppg.

Decent RB2, good RB3.

If you pick at #11 or #12 in an FFPC league I think you have to jump on Sproles with the 2.01 or 2.02 pick. The other HB's have question marks and Sproles was money last year in this format. Not sure I consistently see Sproles fall to the late 2nd or early 3rd in FFPC.

With the 11th pick in a 12-team PPR with 25 ret yds per 1 pt, there's a good chance I'm taking Sproles in the 02.02, hopefully matching him up with an elite QB, RB, or TE, whatever falls to me. If a TE falls, I hope it's Graham and not Gronk, partly because I hate the Patriots and partly because I like Graham more in a PPR. Still growing into his role, and most importantly, less competition for touches.

Gronkowski I'll consider at 02.02 depending on what I take in the 1st. I really want a RB in the first 2 rounds: it's already a minefield, but at least there's high upside/likelihood for majority of touches with the higher backs.

Sproles is that guy for me. After the top 3, McFadden, CJ and maybe Forte are gone, I want Sproles.

this is a 16 pt week for him last year

7 recs

33 rush yds

18 punt ret yds

58 rec yds

42 kick yds

not a whole lot for him to achieve this each week with +- TDs as well.

7 recs, 58 yards is a lot, but I agree with the premise. The YPC may come down a little bit, and touchdowns is tough to predict, but he was a top 4 back last year with ret yards, and if the receptions stay around the same, he'll be a stud again.

My thing with the draft is I want one top RB in the first 2 rounds since I don't trust anyone I'd get at the 3/4 turn. Better than having Turner as an RB1 in a PPR, or Reggie Bush. When it comes to Sproles/Lynch/SJax/FJax/Richardson/Mathews, Sproles has a really high floor. Without return yards, I would go elsewhere, but the week-to-week consistency is so nice with Sproles that I'd probably prefer him.
