Definitely not a one hit wonder and some of their other stuff is definitely...regretable, but I still think this was a great debut song:
Everclear - Heroin Girl

I shamelessly love Santa Monica.Definitely not a one hit wonder and some of their other stuff is definitely...regretable, but I still think this was a great debut song:
Nobody is going to ask me which one?Love Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker:

That entire album, Sparkle and Fade, is great. I am not self conscious in the least about saying that. Santa Monica has suffered from overplay, but it is a very good song.Definitely not a one hit wonder and some of their other stuff is definitely...regretable, but I still think this was a great debut song:
I saw them with Filter at Double Door Back in 1995.Definitely not a one hit wonder and some of their other stuff is definitely...regretable, but I still think this was a great debut song:

She appears several times, very briefly, but the best look at her is at the 4:33 mark.I'll bite (and missed the original post).Nobody is going to ask me which one?Love Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker:

I should caveat this by saying the dirty things occurred probably 15 years after that video was filmed.

I saw Cracker in Austin 'round 2010ish. Small venue, awesome show.
better Crack, imo - "i hate my generation"Love Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker:

Keep 'em coming then! Good stuff.songs like that were kind of my thing back in the day. i specialized in mopey and/or self-loathing music for much of the 90's.Never heard of Howlin' Maggie. That was cool. Thanks!damn, crank up the WABAC! i wore out a bunch of these songs during my radio dj'ing days. good mentions here already...
howlin maggie - "Alcohol"
superdrag - "sucked out"
Still impressive. Very statuesque and extraordinarily good-looking.She appears several times, very briefly, but the best look at her is at the 4:33 mark.

I think Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven were both really good and probably underappreciated. I feel the same way about Cake.better Crack, imo - "i hate my generation"Love Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker:

kind of my anthem back in the day. saw them live doing that and it's really hard for me not to wear out my voice singing/shouting with this track.

I already used my daily quota of likes in this thread but that was awesome. Definitely in the running for most 90's video ever.Life of Agony - Weeds, anyone?
ehhhh... didn't even chart on a sub chart list. I thought this song was freaking awesome. The video sort of ruins it though because the lead singer looks really dooshy for a band called "Life of Agony"
eta: definitely the most 90's video I've ever seen.... BLURRY STUFF, PLAYING IN A BARN, LEAD SINGER ACTING ALL EMO, SOME ANIMALS IN CAGES DOING STUFF IN FAST MOTION
Never liked Cake. they were a bit of a gimmick i thought. not as good as soul coughing, which they were often compared to.I think Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven were both really good and probably underappreciated. The best band of the '90s shouldn't qualify, but you're the OP.One of the ultimate college radio hipster bands, before hipsters were a recognized species.
"CMJ TOP 100" maybe?I think we are redefining the word "hit" in here.
"well, see, man, those bands, like, suck...."Not one mention of Eve 6 or Railway Children in here yet?
will add links later
You see, you are one of those pre-hipsters I was referring to.One of the ultimate college radio hipster bands, before hipsters were a recognized species.
she's hot.
Is that o-NEED-ers or o-NEAD-ers?Anybody here mention the
I think I'm just lame because I didn't get into Pavement until long after they broke up. :(One of the ultimate college radio hipster bands, before hipsters were a recognized species.
Not sure what genre this stuff was considered but it was definitely during the transition away from grunge rock to just rock rock around the late 90's, early 2000s.
