Tiki Barber and the #5 spot (1 Viewer)

I'd still take Portis here even with the new injury.
Over Tiki? No way...Barber is now the lock, stock and barrel smart pick at 4. It would be a questionable move to presume Portis will give you 16 games at full strength, and you need that from him to justify taking him over Barber IMHO.
I have Tiki ranked 10th and think that may even be high for him, so I'm not going to agree.

Jason,He's got a month to heal from a disslocated shoulder? Why is everybody hitting the panic button? I still belive CP is entrenched as the #4 pick. And as far as grabbing Betts, doesn't he have an injured hammy as well? I see the value in grabbing him as a handcuff, but I wouldn't waste a pick before round 8 on him. It's funny, out the other three major forums I visit, this one definitely had the most man-love for Portis. Now everyone is jumping ship...weird.

what do ya'll think now that Portis is hurt....the plot thickens...

5 is still a good spot as we sit back and wait...

I am leaning towards Ronnie Brown here now . . . but it scares me like Mcgahee last year. Any word on injuries to his o-line?

And with Duckett there . . . but now he is reportedly ahead of schedule. FBG has Portis at what, 23 or something? I am still debating on grabbing him here . . . am I nuts??

With the Portis injury and Duckett, Tiki wont be there at #5 in most scenarios. What are you looking at there now?? Jackson, Brown, Rudi, Portis???

I've got the #5, and FWIW, I'm leaning toward Rudi over Portis right now (assuming Barber's not available).Rudi has been a top 10 RB in each of the last two years, and he will give you a solid 1400 and 10, maybe better. All three others have higher upsides than that, but higher risks too. That said, and assuming no further setbacks, I'll give real strong consideration to Portis. But Jackson, Brown and the rest aren't on my radar, due to the haven't-done-it-before risk factor.Just my $0.02.

I have a draft on Saturday and I hold the 5th pick. I have been trying to drop down but can't get any takers. Obviously LT, SA, and LJ will be gone . In my ten team league, I believe someone may also take Manning.

I am torn between Tiki, SJax, Ronnie, and Rudi. I don't like thirty-year-old running backs and would like to try to avoid Tiki. Additionally, Brandon keeps getting the goal line work for New York.

A week ago, I was very high on SJax but have softened on him and am not sure why. This tendinitis thing has me a little nervous since I don't understand it. Other than that, I believe he is poised for a phenomenal year.

I like Ronnie Brown. Although his performance was not anything special last night, he was playing Carolina. I like the Miami offense this year and Saban will pound the rock. It does sound like he is healthy but the O-Line may be questionable.

I am also thinking about Rudi. Rudi will clearly be feature in Cincy and may be a safe pick. He should put up the same rushing yardage as Sjax but may be lighter on the receiving stats.

I think I will just drink too much tonight and hope that I get a moment of clarity in the next 13 hours or the opportunity to drop down two to four spots before the draft.

Rudi has the fewest question marks of any of those you mentioned, IMO. If I get the 1.05 spot in my draft this Sunday (we never pre-pick positions), I'll be looking to pick up Rudi Johnson.

In PPR leagues, this decision is really tough though...

I agree, Rudi is the safest pick, which you NEED in the 1st round, but Rudi also catches hardly any balls...

Ronnie, S Jax, and Tiki obviously all catch the ball well..

I'm torn...

I think it has to be SJax. I don't undersatnd his injury either, but he has looked great so far...Ronnie Brown would be my next pick...I hate this position and am gonna try like hell to move down.

I'm still torn between Brown and Portis. Pre-injury I had Portis ranked #2 overall and Brown #4. Washington looked lost w/o Portis on the field, and IMO if his shoulder doesnt hamper him, he will play the role that was already set for him pre-injury. Any new word on the rehab??Ronnie Brown I loved because of his style and how he wont be taken out for situations . . . can do everything. Also, I was hearing great things about the new o-line and the o-line coach. Since then, however, they lost their starting LG and the line looked horrid against Carolina.I am not sure what to do at #5 tonight. I like Rudi, but just feel 5 is too high for him.

I'd like to hear some opinions on strategy from the 5 spot...I think it's a great position to be in. I've seen the following in 10-man leagues:Tiki / WR (TO, Holt, CJ) / RB (K. Jones, J. Lewis) / WR (S. Moss, R. Williams, A. Johnson) / Foster, GonzoTiki / RB (McGahee, and I've even seen Westbrook here) / WR or TE (Gates, Boldin) / WR (S. Moss, R. Williams, A. Johnson) / Foster, GonzoNeedless to say, I love how these teams look. Any thoughts?
Saturday night in an IDP league I went:1. (5) T. Barber RB 2. (20) T. Holt WR 3. (29) R. Droughns RB 4. (44) T. Brady QB5. (53) D. Branch WR 6. (68) B. Urlacher DL 7. (77) F. Gore RB 8. (92) L. Coles WR 9. (101) T. Glenn WR
Nice grab of Glenn in the 9th.I'm at 7 in a PPR league and have a 50/50 chance of Tiki sliding to me (we start 2 QBs). If he's there, he's gone.

12-teamer and I went balls to the wall with this squad (1QB, 2RB , 3WR, 1 RB/WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D/st):

1.05 Portis, RB

2.08 Holt, WR

3.05 Wayne, WR (debated between him and Dunn here)

4.08 Foster, RB

5.05 Gore, RB

6.08 Mike Bell, RB

7.05 Watson, TE

8.08 McCardell, WR

9.05 Antonio Bryant

10.08 Vick, QB

11.05 Williamson, WR

12.08 Brooks, QB

13.05 Wilkins, K

14.08 Longwell, K

15.05 Morency, RB

16.08 Gabriel, WR

17.05 JAX, D/st

18.08 Greg Jennings, WR

19.05 AZ, D/st

20.08 Desmond Clark, TE
