Tim Hudson v. Hamels (1 Viewer)

Is that Hamels story true about him breaking his arm on a pitch? I was watching the game at work and a guy told me Hamels actually broke his arm playing football. If he did have a "Troy Saunders" type of broken arm, the odds are pretty good that it'll happen again at some point right? Maybe I'm just imagining that I heard that somewhere.

In any case, Hudson looks BACK. And Hamels looked terrific. I loved him coming into spring training, but was one of the ones who was actually concerned with his spring stats. I know, spring means nothing and all that but with a young guy who hasn't done much it is a concern with how many HR he gave up. Nice to see him start off on a very positive note instead.

Edited to change "Joe Saunders" to "Troy Saunders".

I hope not, any Philly homers wish to chime in?

Yeah, Hamels played here in San Diego in HS. Fractured his arm his junior year.
As Hamels looks back, he believes each of his injuries has had a silver lining – starting with his broken arm.“My change-up has some movement that I can't explain,” said Hamels. “They say when you break an arm, it never heals exactly the way it was. Who knows, maybe the way my arm healed is what gave my change-up that extra drop.”

Yeah I knew he broke his arm, but I meant HOW did he break it. To me, there's a big difference between breaking your arm playing football (normal) and breaking your arm while throwing a pitch (incredibly rare and doesn't bode well for a long-term career).
