time between picks? (1 Viewer)

12 teams, 25 rounds.

We start at 4 pm. With 300 picks, is 1 minute between enought? That would make the draft 5 hours the way it is! What rules do you have for a team than breaks the time limit?

1 minute is not long enough. IMO. 2 minutes is about right. If a team breaks the time limit, he/she gets skipped.

In our live local ... an owner that doesn't get a pick in by the time the buzzer goes off, gets skipped. The next owner is on the clock. When the next owner makes his pick, the first guy gets a chance to announce his pick, if he's still not ready immediately, then he gets skipped again, and so on. Doesn't happen often, but it's fun when it does.

1 minute goes quick, we use 3 minutes, but it's only 192 picks (16 teams / 12 rounds.) We usually plan on 4-5 hours as well.

Not sure about having a 10 hour draft!
Not everyone will use the full 2 minutes. We use a 2 minute limit in our 16 round draft and even with a few breaks we are done in 4 hours.

We draft live at a local bar. 1 minute per pick for the first 5 rounds. 90 seconds for rounds 6-16. If you run out of time, you get skipped like a Viking. The next drafter(s) can make their picks, but you can make yours in between. Anything longer than 90 seconds is torture for everyone else. It isn't rocket science, even in the later rounds.

Agreed. Our draft *should* last over 9 hours (192*3 minutes) but even with 2-3 breaks, it has never gone over 5 in 13 years. It would be even quicker if it wasn't for that one guy that absolutely has to take the full time with every pick.

Just did a live draft in a Omega league (Phenoms) Sunday.....12 owners..18rds...216 picks started at 2pm ended at 4:24pm (2hrs 24mins) with a 2min. timer.....no doubt you can do that draft with a 2 min timer under 5 hours!

if you miss your pick in my league, the next guy up is on the clock and may pick at any time. If you were skipped, you can jump back in at any time, but obviously the longer you wait, the more guys can pick ahead of you...
