**Titans at Niners**(-12.5, 44.5) 4:25 (3 Viewers)

This is a bit of a trap game to me. In the CMC thread, I saw a couple "they can beat the Titans without him, let him rest" and I'm not sure I agree with that. I think CMC is needed in this one, especially as the Titans are really bad against RBs out of the backfield. Fannin's big week last week notwithstanding, the Titans have mostly been solid against TEs, this probably isn't a huge Kittle week unless its one of his random multi-TD games. I hope so, as I started Kittle over Pitts, but I think it sets up better for CMC. Let's see if Purdy looks better coming out if the bye, strictly as a passer, Purdy has been worse than Mac Jones was.

The Titans have been more competitive since Callahan was fired. They just whopped what is supposed to be a top-5 Browns defense. I wouldn't take them too lightly. Having said that. I also wouldn't want to be starting any Titans in the fantasy playoffs. I wouldn't be shocked if Pollard had another solid game though against a depleted D, and if Ward can keep the negative plays in check, this will be close.

Pollard looked sooo done and yet somehow rocked last week.
9? year backup C Corey Levin had an outstanding game. DMR and Gunnar were so good at sealing the edge and even getting downfield to free the runner too.
It's been a million years since the Titans had a top line and they actually looked like it last week. That's exactly how a top line would deal with a phenomenal defense. Can you believe Myles was even knocked down a few times?

Cushenberry is likely returning and Zeitler has been banged up. There's a chance Levin plays guard this week. Guy was a goal line FB before this, this year.

The Titans have to go to the well again and see if the OL (that had allowed most sacks and least rushing yards before last week) and Pollard have some sorta streak starting but they've gotta be aware and quit it if it flops too.

Elic was apologetic for his bad play. So does the rookie come with improvement? His drop rate is tops in the NFL and ya don't have to tell me he learned under Ridley.

Gunnar has been coming on slowly strongly as young TEs do. Chig keeps looking so good when he's lined up wide but they almost refuse to make it an every down thing and instead sprinkle him in for a handful of plays. They're simply not good enough to not utilize these two as such.

Dike (maybe Elic) and Spears are really "ooh look at him" complimentary players. If they can get a base of a bit running and throws to the TE, those speed demons can get a big gain added in. It's night n day different when they appear to rely on these two and they get stuffed at the line with a real ugh vibe to morale.

Wilson continues to be the best DC no one talks about and makes no names into players. Fassel has been excellent as advertised. The defense and special teams won last week's game. As travdog said, the Titans can't be just brushed aside and looked past. These two units are huge traps for the Niners. They can't sleep on em.

Marcus Harris in the most reaching reach of a stat is the top CB in the NFL allowing one pass every 20 snaps.
He never even played the slot til this year and was the 6th CB and just a huge kudos to Wilson regardless of the reach stat.

Winston is such a good looking safety. Pro bowler Hooker has been covering fine most of the time but he's been burned badly a few times. The massive turnover of gifts to other teams has the safeties covering too much.

Gray is still working thru first year zone tendencies as he reacts too early and too late plenty but he's coming along. He's been an excellent tackler and promising LB.

Fannin Jr had a day, but he earned most of those catches with "ooh nice job took" as the defender was draped all over him and he caught it anyway. No one watched that game and had an issue with the Titans defenders on him.

I'm not gonna say Kittle isn't as good as Fannin but the Titans are well setup to cover him. Teams determined to throw to the TE despite an obvious ease of throwing outside usually go into halftime losing or barely leading the Titans. In the third Q, they come to their senses and light the Titans up and oh btw can go back to the TE once the outside WRs are established and the third Q is just pure misery for the Titans defense.

Shanahan is a genius but has an ego. There's a trap here too.

The Titans hungry desperate journeyman roster might be pretty decent against CMC. Waste of time to run inside against Big Jeff and Tvondre but the 49ers are very comfortable with a zillion runs and screens to CMC outside. I expect he has a day but "defender that may never play in the league again" could be surprisingly effective tacklers. That's his whole game, making people miss and bursting past and my goodness is he great at it. Still the very well coached defense has led the NFL in tackle rate a few times this season. So yeah they can be chumps but don't forget they're hungry try hard guys. I could see 200 yards as much as 50 combined.

This is such a trap game for the Niners
