Co-worker Jim Wyatt is reporting that the Titans worked out five running backs today, including former Pro Bowler Clinton Portis.
Portis has played nine seasons in the NFL, totaling almost 10,000 rushing yards and scoring 75 touchdowns. He's been bothered by injuries over the past couple of years and was released by Washington in February.
Other backs worked out by the Titans included free agents Aaron Brown, Javarris Williams, Chase Reynolds and Lonyae Miller. Brown had 44 carries over two seasons with Detroit. Williams played at Tennessee State, Miller played at Fresno State and Reynolds played at Montana.
It's common for the Titans to work out players at various positions on Tuesdays, in order to compile information on them in case of injuries to current roster players. But the Titans are unlikely to sign any of the backs barring injury.
