Tom Candiotti pitched batting practice for the D-Backs (1 Viewer)

Devil's Advocate
He's not even on Arizona's staff. He's a TV/radio analyst for the team.

They're facing Wakefield tonight, so the Candyman hurled a few knucklers to the boys before the game.

Loved Candiotti's performance in 61*!!

I think Bob Ueker (sp?) said it best when asked if how to catch a knuckleballer. He said "wait till it stops rolling then pick it up"

I have a question about knuckleballers, while we're on the topic.

Candy pitching batting practice made me wonder something. Why isn't he still pitching? Wakefield will be 42 in August. If he can pitch this effectively at 42, why can't someone still throw that pitch at, say, 55 years of age? In an attempt to answer my own question, I'm going to guess that it has more to do with being a liability trying to field your position than anything involved with actually throwing the pitch. Would you guys agree?
