Anyone else hear about Tony Hargrove not showing up to practice today and the coaches being unable to contact him? I can't seem to find a link other than info supplied on MFL.

I know he was MIA in last week's game...........but this is odd. Anybody have any info on Hargrove's whereabouts?

Thanks! Wonder what's up with Hargrove? Have him starting in two leagues and this isn't encouraging.

-- Hargrove Still AWOL --

Fri Sep 22, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com

AP reports St. Louis Rams DE Anthony Hargrove missed his second straight day of practice on Friday after failing to show up for a meeting with HC Scott Linehan a day earlier, and will not play in Sunday's game at Arizona. Rookie DE Victor Adeyanju, a fourth-round pick, will replace Hargrove in the lineup. Linehan said he spoke briefly to Hargrove about 4 p.m. Thursday and told him to be at Rams Park by 6 p.m. to meet with him. He said the team has had no contact with Hargrove, a third-year player out of Georgia Tech, since then. Linehan would not say if the team would suspend Hargrove, saying simply, "He's just not playing. You can call it what you want." He did say that the third-year player would be fined. Linehan said he had no idea what prompted Hargrove to go AWOL. The coach said Hargrove had "general things" just like other players, "but nothing to this extent at all."

I think the "personal problem at home" coverup has been blown, dude is just AWOL. :o

Rams DE Hargrove Will Face Fine

AP, via ESPN.com - [Full Article]

St. Louis Rams DE Anthony Hargrove's unexcused two-day absence remained a mystery on Friday. The only certainty is that the DE will not be on the field this weekend. HC Scott Linehan said Hargrove had not been suspended, but would be fined. Rookie Victor Adeyanju will replace him in the lineup for Sunday's game at Arizona. "It's not what you're supposed to do as a teammate and a team player and as a member of this organization," Linehan said. "The focus now is on who's going to be helping us on Sunday."

DE Victor Adeyanju

(On starting at DE this week) “I feel very prepared. I think the coaches prepared me very well. I understand the game plan. It’s just a matter of executing, having confidence in myself, and getting after it.”

(On his mindset going into the game) “Every week I prepare as if I’m going to play 100 snaps. It’s just a matter of helping the team in any way that I can. That’s just what I try to do every week, as the season goes on. It’s not like I wasn’t prepared or I have to get my wind back. I always prepare to take as many snaps as I can, and this week it’s going to happen.”

(On getting an opportunity to start this week) “When a situation like this happens you just have to take it and do the best you can with it and perform very well.”

(On his NFL playing experience) “The first game I got quite a bit, the second game I got a little bit. Yes (I played a lot in the preseason.”

What I think...

Perfect opportunity for Adeyanju this week. Warner has been sacked 8 times in two games if I'm not mistaken and all the attention will be on stopping Little from getting in the backfield. He looked solid week 4 of the preseason. I think he has potential and could be a nice fill in DL if you are hurting there. If this kid produces, Hargrove may be in for a surprise when he comes back. Rams fan here so take it for what its worth.

First career NFL start and leads the team in tackles week 3. A rookie defensive end led the team in tackles....say it again? Should be interesting what they do next week since Hargrove came back. I think the Rams should give him another shot in there, Adeyanju I mean.

DE Hargrove Lost Starter Status

Steve Korte, Bellville News-Democrat - [Full Article]

DE Anthony Hargrove will be back with the St. Louis Rams this week, but he won't be the starter anymore. He went AWOL for two days last week with a "personal" problem. Rookie DE Victory Adeyanju started for Hargrove Sunday against the Cardinals. Adeyanju will start again this week.

Adeyanju Taking Advantage of Opportunity

I thought this was a pretty interesting read on the rookie. Personally I think he is going to be a nice addition to IDP teams out there that need a little help. Who knows, maybe even more than a little help. In one game he has matched what Super-Mario has done in 3 games. ;)
