Tony Washington - 2nd Round Prospect goes undrafted (1 Viewer)

Are there any other registered sex offenders in the NFL?I don't think there are. No team wants to deal with that kind of publicity. When you bone your underage sister you have to face the consequences.
What can we learn by comparing this situation with the case of Leonard Little?1) Manslaughter bad..incest badder?2) perhaps if he were intoxicated at the time......?3) The higher the level of talent the more chances you get?

I think what we can learn from this is pretty much what we should've learned as we were growing up ---- life's not black and white (unless you're a penguin), and life's not fair.

A juvenile who has paid his debt to society. Still, very taboo. How would this compare to Roman Polanski isolating a child, plying her with drugs, and then forcing the issue? I ask because to many he is an Icon.I'm glad my favorite team has not taken on this burden. I must say i am curious about the facts.
"A juvenile who has paid his debt to society?" It's not really that simple. This isn't a kid who got caught shoplifting a pack of gum. It takes someone with serious mental issues to have sex with his sister, consensual or not.

The sex offender list is a joke. It's been twisted to mean things it was never inteded to mean. I know a guy who swears his buddy got put on it for soliciting an under-age prostitute...and she was a prostitute. The list is mis-used and abused. This kid shouldn't be on it. As gross as it may be, an incident like that by a 16 y.o. kid shouldn't have to scar him for life.
:nerd: I really wonder if there isn't more to the story. One incident of misguided hormones by a couple of teenagers (kids!) isn't enough IMO.
I don't think there's anymore to this story sadly. First, regarding the sex offender list. It really has become a farce of what people actually think it is. Many think that the sex offender list only contains people who are child molesters, rapists, etc., but that's just not the case. I actually have a friend whose a registered sex offender because he got caught urinating in public in college (seriously who here hasn't done that at least once, especially in college?). He was urinating behind a wall of bushes in a park where a little league game was also going on apparently. Of course the game wasn't even visible from where he was in the park, especially being behind the tall bushes; but when a cop busted him for public urination, he also got charged with public indecency and something like exposure to minors since there were kids in the park as well. Of course no kids ever saw him until after the cop was finished handcuffing him and taking him away; but he had to register as a sex offender because of the charges. And now he will be on the sex offender list for the rest of his life. So the list, while it does do some good, also lists a lot of people who many would not consider sex offenders in the slightest. As for Washington, I doubt the fact that it was his sister had anything to do with the sex offender part of the case. It was most likely due to his being 16 and her being 15, which is probably a minor under Louisiana law. So I would imagine under Louisiana law that Washington was considered an adult and his sister was considered a minor; and that is what caused him to become a registered sex offender. And any other 16 year old who sleeps with a 15 year old in Louisiana would also have to register as a sex offender if caught. As an aside, the fact that you would be labeled a sex offender for the rest of your life for that is also ludicrous in my opinion. As to why Washington is being black balled, if he is being blackballed that is since there are other question marks surrounding his abilities, I'm not sure if it's because he's a registered sex offender or if it's because of the fact that it was with his sister. The sex offender part obviously has a legal basis but the sister part could be purely based on taboo in my opinion. And I'm not sure if teams are reluctant, aside from the questions about his abilities, more because of the sex offender part or the sister part. Either way, I personally think I would at least give the kid an interview and possibly a chance depending on the interview. His transgressions, regardless how repulsive they are to man of us, were made when he was 16. In addition, many of the reports on this kid say that he came from a very dysfunctional home. While that doesn't justify his behaviors, it can help to determine the cause and motivation for the situation. And all reports seem to indicate that he has matured, moved past this in his life, and has become a model citizen from a moral point of view. To me, it's no different than giving anyone else a second chance; not to mention that many others that have received second chances were much older, maturer, and wiser when they made their transgressions.

Why would you even bother with the guy? It sounds like he's a run-of-the-mill prospect who might have some serious issues and who will definitely come with some unwanted PR. Why not just forget about him and move on to the next prospect?

PROH SEXUAL CONDUCTthat's pretty general sounding, but I'd guess it's more involving your ya ya and sisterhood, than the age thing.

hang on....I forgot I'm on the internet....let me just stroll over to the library.........

Class C misdemeanor: Fine up to $500

as for that 16/15 age thing.....I'm gettin' my google on!

(a) A person commits an offense if, with a child younger than 17 years

and not his spouse (LOL), whether the child is of the same or opposite sex, he:

(1) engages in sexual contact with the child; or

(2) exposes his ###### or any part of his genitals,

knowing the child is present, with intent to arouse or gratify

the sexual desire of any person.

(b) It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that

the actor:

(1) was not more than three years older than the victim

and of the opposite sex; and

(2) did not use duress, force, or a threat against the victim

at the time of the offense.

© An offense under Subsection (a)(1) is a felony of the second degree

and an offense under Subsection (a)(2) is a felony of the third degree.

I added the LOL, by the way.

I'm trying to figure out what a ###### is so I can be sure not to expose it. I'm LOL'ing all the same though.

well, it was only a matter of time --- apparently, there are already nearly a dozen projects underway adapting his story into a movie.

In Hilton Head, SC, if you are caught urinating on a golf course, you can be arrested and forced to register as a sex offender.

The sex offender registry rules vary from state to state and are sometimes bizarre.

I definitely wouldn't hire him to be a teacher or any sort of work where he is around young kids, but I don't think he is danger in the locker room. My guess is some team will signed him as an undrafted FA in a few weeks when there is less attention being paid to the NFL draft.
1. you don't know exactly what happened. 2. don't see how this would interfere with being a teacher or something???3. prolly cause of the rothelesberger thing, wait until that dies down and someone will nab him
