Tool Organizer (1 Viewer)

I've got a lot of tools that I've either been given or inherited over the years but I don't have a decent tool organizer.  Looking for recommendations.

Some info that may be relevant:

And it's possible I (or someone else) started this thread previously but 1. the search still kind of sucks and 2. I'm going to not spend time complaining about the FFA and try to make it great again with inane threads like this one.

Considering something like this.

I think you answered your own question.  But, one thing I do in addition to my tool boxes is pegboards like this.  You can get 4x8 sheets at Lowes/Home Depot and just screw it right to the studs in the garage or shop.  The hangers are cheep too, but, if you keep an eye out you can find cans and boxes full of them at garage sales for next to nothing.

Damn that could be the neatest and most organized tool set I've ever seen.  My garage is in total shambles, I need to do this.  Great call, seems like a cheap solution.  Combining this with the rolling workbench with drawers and I may even be able to actually find things when I need them.

I'd consider this if I used them more - I just don't and while that looks cool I'm not sure it would be useful to me.

This is what i did but need to reorgAnize

I think it depends on what you mean by "tools."  I've got a ton of tools...

I keep my Mechanic's type tools (screwedrivers, sockets, wrenches, pliers, etc. in a Montezuma Toolbox.  The "stadium" style top is by far the best for organizing sockets and wrenches.  I can fit nearly a full 500 pc. Craftsman tool set in the top section and top 2 drawers.  I keep my Dewalt cordless stuff in the big bottom drawer.

I use Rubbermaid Garage Track shelves and cheap plastic bins for most of my power tools.  I'll put a saw in a bin with the associated blades, manual, etc.  Store the ones I don't use up high, etc.

For garden tools, I just built some space with hangers using 2x4's and some hooks.  Works fine for me.

Depends on what you want to store and how accessible you want it to be.  A bunch of years ago I did a workbench with lockable cabinets over head and storage underneath.  I have pegboard on the wall for items I end up grabbing the most and a small toolbox on the side of the bench for small items that don't work with pegboard or overflow tools that I can't fit on the pegboard.  Looks like this...

There you go. Mine is similar to that, but not quite as fancy. Add a TV and a mini-fridge with cold beer and watch baseball all summer out in the garage. It's heaven.

It's not that fancy.  Its a combination of clearance-priced Gladiator cabinets, Home Depot lumber, cheap pegboard, cheap pegboard accessories kit, and black spray paint.

I have a mini fridge next to the bench because the regular-sized garage fridge is all the way on the other side of the garage.  The mini fridge holds my garage workbench beer (High Life) which could probably be a separate topic.  I hadn't thought of the garage TV but with wifi and streaming making things so easy now I may have to add one!

That thing is gorgeous

Holy crap that Montezuma setup is a grand when you factor in the top toolbox and the wheeled drawer unit.  That's a lot of coin for not even tools but the thing you ot your tools in. That said if it gives me a lifetime of organization and happiness with my tools, hell, may well be worth it.

Think about how sweet it'll look nestled between the Raptor and the Vespa.

Just get 3 of them already.

That's roughly what I paid, but the price included freight to deliver the thing.  I've seen them on AutoZone's website from time to time for $600 if you use coupons.

I know it's a lot, but the box is built like a brick ####house.  Super solid.  The top organizer holds stuff in such a neat and orderly fashion.  I'm OCD about my tool organization, so it was worth it to me.  Shy of something that takes up a lot more space, there was no way for me to organize a full set of sockets (We're talking standard and metric, regular and long, 6 point and 12 point, 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2") in a way that didn't take up far too much space.

looking to redo the garage and buy a shed soon.  Riding mower would be better if it stayed in the backyard, and making more room in the garage means I might be able to put my highlander in our 3 car garage.

Oh I get it. And I seriously may pull the trigger. My tool situation is a mess. Some in the basement, some in the panty closet in a small toolbox, and a bunch strewn around a garage that is presently a disaster. Those things look like they last a lifetime and organize great, and I love that I can roll it out into the driveway when working on the car or some project, or otherwise just park it neatly in the garage for other times.

Totally getting one and finally getting organized.
