I think this list is legit because it's voted on by the players themselves.  One has to understand how it works.  At the end of each regular season, the players are asked to write down a list of who they think are the 20 best players in the games right now.  Each player is going to have a different list, so not one of them is the same.  Then, the votes are submitted, and that's the Top 100 Players of the Year are determined.  So, this list is according to the players and not according to those of us who are on the sidelines watching the game.

So for only the 2nd time in the history of the Top 100, a defensive player was voted #1.  The other was J.J. Watt in 2015.  Does everyone believe the players got this list right?

I think this list is legit because it's voted on by the players themselves.  One has to understand how it works.  At the end of each regular season, the players are asked to write down a list of who they think are the 20 best players in the games right now.  Each player is going to have a different list, so not one of them is the same.  Then, the votes are submitted, and that's the Top 100 Players of the Year are determined.  So, this list is according to the players and not according to those of us who are on the sidelines watching the game.

I think I have heard some players don’t want to spend the time on it to actually do it justice/right so they have “somebody” do it for them...a rep or something 

eta Brees ahead of Mahomes is a joke let alone two defensive players....nobody impacted the season/league more than Mahomes last year...it almost seems kind of like last year when he probably should have won AFC player of the week several more times but they didn't ive it to him because "we can't give it to him every week"...."he will win a bunch more in his future so let's give it to somebody else this week"....

So you’re telling me that when asked to write down the top 20 players in the whole league, the name at least one player came up with is Mitchell Schwartz?  I’m not saying he isn’t good or even a top100 player, but that is surprising.
