I get that you do not like it, but 82% of the Top Critics (from Rotten Tomatoes) gave it a thumbs up. You are the outlier.
Rarely do popular consensus and quality intersect.
Several things- the rating I gave was from Top Critics. Not sure if that would eb popular consensus. Most of their top critics are as snobby as those of us in this thread. Its not like it was a Peoples Choice or Golden Globe.Second, my point reason for posting was Kenny's shock that it would be in a Top 10 List, when in fact it is on many Top 10 lists.

Finally, I saw the movie and while I did not dislike it as much as Kenny, it did not come close to making my personal Top 10

When it comes to film, I think the critic gauge is pretty good. The public rating doesn’t mean squat.

Watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes last night - HORRIBLE. About 3 minutes in, when the scientist discovers the drug "works" and literally goes running out of the lab and into the CEO's office, you knew the film was going to be awful.

Any FBGs who have this garbage in your Netflix queue, remove it immediately and buy me a beer next time you see me for saving you 2 hours of your life. YWIA.

Yeah, it wasn't too good in the beginning but it got better. I liked the special effects and gave it a

I'm not following your logic. A character rushing to tell his CEO that he just created a license for the corporation to print money seems like a pretty natural response. Or are you upset that they didn't show a more realistic scenario of the scientist filing his paperwork and watching said paperwork work its way through a series of middle management types as it progressed up the corporate food chain? Because that would be riveting theater.

Are you suggesting that the scene as filmed was riveting? I found it unrealistic, unnatural, and just plain dumb. And that theme continued for the next two hours.

It's a movie about talking monkeys. I checked my expectation for realism at the door.

I also recommended a documentary about apes. Clearly you didn't see that first like I suggested. That was the shark move that made Rise of the Planet of the Apes much more enjoyable.

Even unrealistic movies can be well told. I've seen Barney episodes with more drama.

You've watched too freaking many Barney episodes and you've turned stupid.

Has ANYONE else seen We Bought A Zoo?

I don't think I've seen anyone mention it. Either no one has seen it, or no one else liked it.

I think it could place in most people's top 5 at least, but I don't see it mentioned anywheres.
Heard this movie is terrible
After seeing the trailer to this, it looks unbelievably dumb. No way in hell I'm watching that garbage, unless my wife forces me to. :bag:
Ended up finally having to watch this bag of ####. It's like something you would see on a 1980s After School Special. So bad it doesn't even seem like a real movie.

it is perfect for what it is- a nice, safe PG movie with some drama. All pg movies have that feel to an extent. I have recommended it to several families with kids not quite ready for pg-13 movies.
