Top week 1 WW DEF/ST (1 Viewer)

Pittsburgh United

So which of the top DEF/ST teams that may be on waiver wires are for real? In my league, Houston is the #2 D for week 1 (25 pts), and are available on the wire. Indy is #4 (21 pts), and the Bungles are #5 (20 pts). I think the Bungles overperformed last night against a not-very-good offense. Houston and Indy both did well against solid offenses (though, yes, KC is an all-around bad squad), and I think one of them might be a gem. It seems difficult to take a Houston defense, though. Can they be for real?

I think that was more KC being bad than Houston being good. The Chiefs offensive line played horribly on Sunday. I wouldn't pick them up.

Bengals and Colts on the other hand just might be worth it. Bengals aren't a good NFL defense but they can be a good fantasy defense like they were 2 seasons ago. The Colts are just stellar right. Ever since the playoffs they've shut offenses down.

So the priority for me would go Colts, Bengals,Texans.

:goodposting: I'm targeting the Colts, but trying to come to a decision on #2 if I miss them. Kinda hard for me to take the Bengals D. That Ravens O was just so bad last night. Regardless of the KC play-calling, or OL play, holding LJ to 43 yards rushing is impressive.

Bengals get to play @ CLE this week ... pretty tasty matchup if you're just looking for a 1 week fill-in :boxing:

I'd prefer IND, CIN then HOU from a longer-term outlook.

As I just stated in another thread about this topic, I'm mildly optimistic about Houston and their young talent. The problem is their weakest link is at safety and they lost a starter, Simmons, for the year. Some nice matchups, though.
