NFL Headlines Torain has surgery, may go on injured reserve Ryan Torain underwent surgery Thursday to repair a torn ligament in his left elbow. He is in danger of being placed on season-ending injured reserve. An MRI revealed Torain could miss as many as three months, which would give him a projected Week 10 or 11 return. Torain practiced in training camp and cannot be placed on the PUP list. We doubt we'll see him this year. Aug. 7 - 12:57 pm etSource: Rocky Mountain News
Too bad, because he was probably the best RB on that roster.

Once you practice, you can't be put on the PUP. Since you are "physically able to perform".

Selvin is going to be the guy. The real trick is to find his backup - due to the nature of being a running back in the NFL, odds are the starter is going to get hurt.

Who is going to back him up? Pittman?

I think Michael Pittman will represent some value this year.
I don't see this, he's 32 (and already dinged) 70 carries and 106 total touches is the most hes had in the last 3 years. His Y per catch was the second lowest of his career and his yards per carry was pretty poor for a guy with 68 touches. Meanwhile Shanahan has shown he will put a young, unproven guy back there if he wants to. His MO is to go young not old.

Why wouldn't they PUP list him first?
"Torain practiced in training camp and cannot be placed on the PUP list."
this isnt truehe can gone on the season Pup.training camp pup is different
Training camp PUP is only different in that you can come off it any at time. In-season PUP deactivates you until week 6. Once you practice, you can't go on either one. (same one really)
that makes no sense. People practice and play in games, get hurt. Go on pup.

Not so, my friend. You can start TC off on the PUP list, then come off it, but you can't go back on. If the regular season begins, nobody can go on PUP who isn't already there. It's either active roster or IR. "Physically unable to perform" is literal. Once you can "physically perform" (IE practice and play), the ability to go on this list is lost.

Its now official... Denver has the worst backfield in the NFL.

They'll sign someone, knowing them though it wont be anybody exciteing. Torain was their best shot of being more than an RBBC garbage player.

Never knew that, thanks!

How do we know it is Selvin and not Hall? It seems like it could be either guy at this point and that there will be a battle during preseason. Way too early to call this one.

Sure, as long as the subject is the same as the one on this thread. I think it needs to be said in the subject that he could go on IR or miss 3 months.

I guess I'd never paid close attention to the rule, but I guess "physically unable . . ." means from the opening of training camp onward. That makes sense.

Why is the RatFace Shanahanagan so reluctant to run Andre Hall?
I was wondering about this too. Best bet and value can be the #2 guy. He is a better prospect IMO than Pittman at this point of his career. He showed a few flashes last year. Might be worth a late shot at some point in the headache that is the Denver RB situation.

I really liked Hall coming out of school, but I wasn't quite as impressed with him when I saw him play last season. Not sure that I can even really articulate why. Seemed to get swallowed up too much in traffic or something.

i actually think this is a good thing for those who wasted late 1st round rookie picks on him.

Now they can blame him busting on being injured.
