Total Defense (yards allowed per game) (1 Viewer)

I've been trying unsuccessfully to find a stat source for total yards allowed by defenses on an individual game by game basis (not season averages).

I have a league that awards points based on total yards and I'm trying to push for an adjustment to our scoring. Currently, points are awarded:

0-49 = 8

50-99 = 6

100-149 = 4

150-199 = 2

200-249 = 1

IMO, this setup is virtually useless on a game by game basis. Personally, I can think of no single game where a team's total offense was less than 50 yards. The only game I remember off hand under 100 total yards was that crazy Steeler loss where the Texans had virtually no offense all game but won on a trio of def/st scores.

I'm sure there are other instances, but hardly enough to make it worth it in FF. Better teams in this league average over 100 ppg, and defenses do virtually nothing unless they rack up sacks and turnovers.

When I present the case, I'd like to be able to cite stats, ie "in the last 5 years, only 8 times has a team been held to under 100 total yards (in 2560 chances)."

If anyone has any suggestions or knows where to find this info it would be appreciated.

Steelers lost again this year, holding Oakland < 100yds. I like this defensive scoring thing you have...just need to tweak the scoring and stats. Make 100 or less the first threshold then do them in 50 yard increments up to 350 yards. Holding a team to under 350 total yards is still pretty decent and worthy of at least 1 point. You also have to do scoreboard points to balance it out though since we all know that points allowed by a defense is more important than yardage which just documents that the defense is a "paper champion".

NFL.Com Stats

Follow the link above. The stats go back to the 2003 season. After you have clicked on the season you want go to each team link to see the gamecenter's for each game of the season. You can then click on the team stats link to get the net yardage for every game. It may be a little tedious but that will give you 4 years worth of game data. We use the following scoring system and it has worked pretty well.

150 yards and less = 10 points

151-175 yards = 8 points

176-200 yards = 6 points

201-225 yards = 4 points

226-250 yards = 2 points

Thanks for the replies.

There it is...not looking for anything to do with fantasy points, just actual total yards allowed.

I am aware the numbers can be looked up on a game by game basis, but that's a bit tedious for what I wanted them for. 256 games per year x 4 years = too much clicking, lol.
