Trade 1st Round picks to spice things up? (1 Viewer)

My name is Jack and I am addicted to trading...

I wanted to discuss a strategy in which one would trade next years first round pick for a rival owners first round pick (no players involved). Its early in the season, most owners still "love" their teams upside, why not take advantage of it...

If one is able to identify 2-3 teams that will are good bets to miss the playoffs, and you feel you will make the playoffs, why not see if you can play on your rivals egos into swapping 1st round picks. Something along the lines of... "If you are so confident you team is better than mine, then put your money where your mouth is..."

Sure it could backfire and Jamaal Charles your 1st round pick could go on the IR next Sunday, but that's part of the fun (taking the chance to make the playoffs AND have a top 3 pick next year!)

What do you guys think of the strategy and any thoughts on how to best identify the future cellar dwelling teams 2-3 weeks into the season?

Very funny. Might have to try that. I once bet an owner on draft day his first round pick against mine that his keeper RB, who had led the league in scoring the year before, wouldn't even make the Top 10 that year. Thanks Curtis Martin. I had two first rounders the next year.

Gianmarco and I did this twice in one league. It worked out for me the first year (which was last year).

This year, I somehow ended up with my pick back. Not sure how that happened, really :)

I have done this for years with guys that chirped. Put up or shut up. Worked really nice a few times

Moved from the 7 to the 3 with someone elses pick I owned that the other owner crapped all over. Thank you

Moved from the 14 to the 4 in one other draft with a lippy owner whose team I did not like

Have traded 2nds a few times. I lost those ones but only dropped a couple of spots

One way to get into this is to write an article on where a team ranks. Always gets the masses going and sparks these type of trades

Just sent an owner 2 days ago of offer of my 1st for his after he stated how great his team looked(We are both 4-0) and how Victor Cruz taking Hixon spot was a huge upgrade for his team. He has relied on Fitzpatrick, Henne, Britt and Gonzo to this point in leading his team. I think they come crashing back to earth soon.

did this a few years ago, although I spiced it up and added a 3rd round pick as well. Worked out and I ended up getting the 1st pick.

Your 4-0 after week 2? Do you play 2 teams a week?
