Trade Advice - HELP! (1 Viewer)

I've been offered Doumit (C, PIT) and Bedard (SP, SEA) for Edinson Volquez (SP, CIN) and Joey Votto (1b/OF, CIN)

It's a straight-up points league where K's are way more valuable than stats like WHIP and BB's. So Volquez's value is high. I'm stacked at 1b and OF so Votto has been riding pine, and I've got Victor Martinez at catcher so Doumit is really excessive. But Bedard is so sexy, and can Volquez really keep this up all season?\

Who wins the trade?

You're getting the best player in the deal. If you can flip Doumit for another piece that helps you, I say do it.

So you're saying Bedard is the best player in the deal? Totally disagree. I wouldn't do it.

No way on earth I do this trade. You have V-Mart already so why go through all this just to get Bedard when Volquez is striking out 10 guys every start? Is this a redraft?

In a redraft league Bedard kicks the ### of any of the other 3 players in this deal. Volquez is the flavor of the day, just like Cueto was after his first start. Volquez pitches in an extreme hitters park and the weather is starting to warm up. Bedard plays half his games in an extreme pitchers park, and was a Cy Young favorite when the season began. When you can grab a Bedard or a Brandon Webb or someone of that ilk, especially if it's a sell-high guy like Volquez you've GOT to make that deal.(assuming a re-draft league...if it's a keeper, it's a different story)

I disagree with most of this except the hitter's/pitcher's park part. Flavor of the day? After 6 solid starts he leads the league in ERA and K's. To compare his start to Cueto's first game makes no sense. It's not like he's up there getting lucky outs, he's mowing guys down. His stuff is filthy. I don't know about everyone else but I wasn't ready to anoint Bedard the next great pitcher after last year. And Webb has done it for years, Bedard had one great year and another good year but you make it sound as if he's been dominant for years.NO DEAL

Bedard has an ERA under 2 this year. I know Volquez does also but as a rookie you gotta expect a downturn. Bedard is by far the best player in this deal.

Get Bedard, no question. Volquez is not going to keep this up, his high walk rate will be his undoing. He is getting very lucky this year.

We'll see.In the middle of the summer when Volquez is getting destroyed, this guy is going to be kicking himself for not getting Bedard when he had a chance.Worst Case Scenario, you wind up getting one of the top 3 pitchers in the AL. Very little risk with a huge potential for reward.Edit to add : Just wanted to repeat what I said in my original post, that the deal works if you feel you can flip Doumit for something that will help in a different area.
