Trade help - hitting for pitching (1 Viewer)

I have been offered Chad Billingsly for Prince Fielder. I think Fielder is more valuable, but currently Johnny Damon has been sitting on my bench and is in the top 10 in my league in scoring. Should I make the deal and move Pena to 1b then use Damon as my Utility player? My pitching has been my weak spot by far.

Here is my current team in a 10 team league

c Ramon Hernandez (Wieters)

1b Prince Fielder

2b Brandon Phillips

3b AROD

ss Jimmy Rollins

OF Carlos Lee (Damon)

OF Carl Crawford

OF Nate Mclouth

UT Carlos Pena

SP Carlos Zambrano (Baker, Carmona, Cook, Kawakemi, Duke)

SP Dice K

SP Erik Bedard

SP Chris Young

RP Brian Fuentes

can you counter with Pena for Billingsly? Pena strikes out too much and has too much power hitting in front of him to for the opportunity for the 3 run and GS point bonuses. He has started well enough that his value might be inflated until his average starts to drop.

You really need the pitching help, but Fielder is an awful lot to give up. I hate trading hitters for pitchers, but you're going to have to if you want to compete for the title.

I am going to try to counter with Pena. He has now said he would throw in David Ortiz to the original trade if I threw in Scott Baker. Does that make it more attractive?

No, I wouldn't want any part of Ortiz this year, even if he was free, he is only going to be a liability. If he is interested in Baker I would maybe throw him in with Pena if it could get the deal done.
