So I got this e-mail from a guy in my league saying, "You have something I want, his name is Chone Figgins. Look at my team and see what you want."
Now, he's wanted Figgins since last year, and at the draft, a few rounds into it, offered the rest of his draft for him (I didn't take it, as I'd then have too many players, and we keep 15 guys a year, so by the 5th or 6th round of our 10 round draft, it's not like there's a bunch of studs out there). What would you guys offer up?
This is a 12 team H2H league. We use R, HR, RBI, SB, K, FPCT, AVG, OPS for hitters, and W, L, SV, HR, K, ERA, WHIP, K/BB for pitchers. My current roster:
Batters
Ramón Hernández
David Ortiz
B.J. Upton
Chone Figgins
Miguel Tejada
Magglio Ordóñez
Josh Hamilton
Nate McLouth
Jim Thome
Corey Hart
Michael Bourn
Carlos Delgado
Jeff Kepinger
Jason Bay
Dustin Pedroia
Akinori Iwamura
Pitching
Brett Myers
Jason Isringhausen
Billy Wagner
Kerry Wood
Heath Bell
Chris Young
Gil Meche
Kyle Lohse (I picked him up for Friday's start vs. SF, as I was going to come up short on innings)
Joe Saunders
Yovani Gallardo
His looks like:
Batters
Víctor Martínez
Adrián González
Brandon Phillips
Kevin Youkilis
Ryan Theriot
Bobby Abreu
Carlos Lee
Gary Sheffield
Ian Kinsler
Johnny Damon
Jimmy Rollins
Edwin Encarnación
Jacoby Ellsbury
Jason Varitek
Curtis Granderson
Pitching
Brian Bannister
Ian Kennedy
Jonathan Papelbon
Francisco Cordero
Manuel Corpas
Joe Borowski
Carlos Marmol
Fausto Carmona
Clay Buchholz
Tim Hudson
Andy Pettitte
John Lackey
Curt Schilling
I was thinking maybe Carmona and Martinez? I doubt he'd take it, but it's a start. I've traded a lot with this guy in the past, as well, and I know that we'll get something done. Currently my pitching sucks, as does my catcher, so this would help me, as well as get him the guy he wants.
As an FYI, I went through a cycle with some older players for a few years, and am going for a little bit of youth movement this year, so keep that in mind as well. I'm trying to build for the next several years, not just win right now. That being said, for a guy like Figgins, I'd like some solid contributors right now.
What do you think?
