Trade Question (1 Viewer)

12 team, 25 man roster keep 12 league.

I took over a team a few years ago am slowly getting it into contention with youth.

C - Saltalamacchia

1B - Morneau

2B - Upton

SS - Jeter

3B - Braun

LF - Lee

CF - Freel

RF - VLAD

Bench - Taveras, Cano, Laroche, S Drew

A trade proposed to me is A-Rod for Upton and Braun. I'm tempted but then realize the upside of those two and re-think.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated...

Don't give away such great young talent for Arod. Braun is going to be a top 3rd basemen, who else would you rather have at 3rd base besides Arod or David Wright? Braun is a top 5 third basemen, maybe even top 3. Upton is a versatile young player who can do many things. He has some power and can steal bases and plays multiple positions. I don't think there is a big upgrade from Arod and Braun fantasy wise to give Upton in the deal. Thats is my opinion.

Just off the top of my head

I'd make the deal to get the best player in the game.

Braun and Upton will be good.....but how long are you willing to wait? They could be very good next year, or they could take a couple of years to mature.

You said it yourself...."upside" doesn't always mean production.....you know what your getting in ARod.

Make this deal.

I'm struggling with both these lines of thought. I knew that taking over the team would take me a few years to be competitive and right now I've moved up to the middle of the pack. I like what Braun and Upton can do and they fall into a plan of staying young and slowly building the team. However, A-Rod is the cream of the crop and I can plant him in the line-up for several years...

I guess I'm leaning towards not doing it but still am not sure....

Anytime you can get an ARod for one established youngster and one who is still unknown at this time, you have to pull the trigger.

Basically, who would you rather have starting? Upton and Braun or ARod and Cano? I think its a no brainer for the latter.
