Trading Draft Picks (1 Viewer)

Well I hope this is not in the wrong forum. What kind of rules do you set up for the trading of draft picks? Our league is a re-draft league and this is the first year we are able to trade picks before the draft.

(We may go to a keeper league in the future, not sure if this info matters.)

Can't trade picks in years you haven't paid for yet.

Other than that i don't think there's any need for rules in trading picks.

i'm a "less is more" type of guy - we only hold a vote on trades that deal with high to mid level picks in future years. i don't see the need to vote on trades involving only draft picks for only the current year, though your leaguemates may feel differently.

Depends on the league:

In my local redraft, you can trade your slot with another owner prior to the draft and it applies to the entire draft. (#6 swapping with #12 would swap all the picks for those slots for the duration of the draft)

In my online 16-team 5-player keeper, you can trade just about anything: Individual picks, players and picks, the following year's draft picks, etc.

If you're a money league, the afore-mentioned no trading picks you haven't paid the entry fee for is a must.

You should find out how your leaguemates feel about firesales, guys selling off their whole team for picks to try to help them next year. Some people are fine with them, some hate them. If it's something your league chooses to avoid, you may want an early trade deadline. And/or you could have something about teams who are out of numerical contention for a champ bracket playoff spot can't trade with teams who are in contention. Or something even laxer, in my dynasty league we allow firesales, but we require any owner who is going to make a trade that might be deemed a firesale to notify the entire league of it BEFORE he makes the trade, so everyone has a fair shot at his players.
