Trading draft picks (1 Viewer)

Never traded draft picks before. Don't have my pick # yet but I'm starting to think about what value picks have.

What do you think 1.1 would be worth this year? Re-draft league, so only trading picks, not players.

Maybe a 1st and a 4th rounder?

Few owners are willing to give a pick to move up, especially with some of the uncertainty up top and lack of a true hands down stud this year. I just drafted Saturday from #1 and had worked on it for a bit with multiple owners, ranging from the guy at #3 to the guy at #11. If you get an extra pick in the deal and are comfortable drafting most place in the 1st, I'd almost always do it. What you're more likely looking at, at least in my experience and my league's experience are swapping picks in the same rounds.

For instance: You give your 1.01, 2.12, and 4.12 for 1.07, 2.06, and 4.06. So you're moving up in the 2 even rounds, while he moves up in the 1st round. I think in 09 I got a guy in my league to give me a pick, as I sent 1.02 and 9.02 to him for 1.10, 3.10, and 9.10. Thats a pretty amazing haul in this situation, but it is also a long drop down from 2 to 10.

It really hinges on the climate of your league, but overall, if you can get an extra pick out of the deal, I'm inclined to go for it, assuming you're good with picking most places in the 1st.

In past years, when there is a concensus #1, people might trade up. People trading up now are looking at the 2-5 slots. Question marks around AP (bad team), Foster (hamstring), etc make many owners want to avoid the #1 slot, not move up

i just traded my #1 pick for the #10 pick in a 10 team redraft straight up. As stated above, there is no value for the #1 pick this year. However, we start 3 WR's and i put a higher value on them, even though my league is non ppr. I wanted to be able to land 2 of the top 3 or 4 wr's this year and can now do so. Had i just drafted AP at #1, CJ, AJ, Roddy, Nicks, Fitz probably would of been gone by my 2nd round pick.

I am drafting at 1.06. I have an offer to trade 1.06, 2.07 and 8.07 for 1.02, 2.11 and 8.11. Seems like a no brainer but In exchange for locking in my #1RB I am knocking myself out of the 1st tier WRS and risking the QB I am targeting at 8. Since QB seem to be going early this year the 8 spot may be less important for the QB so just looking at 2 rounds who do I like? Rice/Wallace...Rice/FJones or Mendy/Fitz...CJ2/Fitz...Rogers/Fitz. For me it is not an easy choice. I think the top 2nd tier RB and top tier WR is a safer bet

Makes no sense to me. You could just mske the same pick at #1 you did at #10, why not get something more? Did mean you traded with the 10 spot for the whole draft? I can understand that

This is ludicrous and lazy. The 1. is clearly more valuable and should be dealt with as such. You must have not tried very hard. I've been on the other end of this a few times, and am always amazed that people make this trade because 'all positions are equally waited'. :lmao:

he clearly meant swapping 1.1 and 2.10 for 1.10 &2.1. But even that is abominable. See Supra.

You won't get a 1st and 4th in any legit redraft league. Not this year, likely not ever. Thats too much to give up. You'll only get that if you happen to find a noob with a real Jones to draft Vick at 1.01.

In my league, the person at 1.01 traded down to 1.06 to swap picks in the second, fourth, and sixth. Usually, trading picks is a painful process that ends up not getting you too far ahead of where you started. The only way that I've ended up ahead with trading picks is by making multiple trades, improving a little bit at a time. This season, I had the 7th pick and ended up with the following...

1.05

3.02

3.05

4.06 (only pick in the first 5 rounds that I kept)

5.02

5.12

6.06

7.03

<no 8th>

9.07

10.06

<no 11th)

12.06

13.07

14.06

14.10

<15-18 remained the same>

I originally traded down to 2.11 from 2.06, but I needed to jump in front of the guy picking at 1.06 to get the player I wanted...so I dropped to 3.05 to make that jump in the first. I ended up with Vincent Jackson anyway, which is who I was targeting.
