My league is set up thus:
Start 1 QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1W/T/R (flex) a PK and DST
There are no negative points for fumbles, or INTs.
Passing TDs worth 4, Rec/Rush TDs are 6.
1 Point Per Rec.
I have the #1 Overall draft slot. In a lot of the PPR Mocks that I do on FantasyFootballCalculator.com, I take CJ2k, and then 8-10 WRs come off the board before my picks at the end of Rd 2. It seems to me, that because it's a mock draft, that this is an abnormally high amount of WRs to go in the first 2 rounds, and people are actually overdrafting them, because for some reason they've been taught that a PPR league really means: "draft as many WRs as possible, they're worth more than other positions." Not true, but I suppose perception is reality, and if people are happy to take Anquan Boldin before Ryan Matthews, than it should put a smile on my face. However getting back to my original query; since my league starts 3 WRs, and the flex position is *often* also a WR, would it make any sense at all for me to trade down from pick 1 to pick 3 or 4, in order to have a better quality WR1? As far as I can tell, in a PPR format, the top 4 picks are pretty damn close, but it would allow me to draft a better player in the 2nd round, which in this case would likely be a WR, because i'll need quite a few of them to field a starting team. The idealist in me says *wow i get chris johnson*, the realist says *the odds are against him repeating what he did last year* and that MJD and Rice will be comparable by seasons end.
When the pick does get back to me, I end up usually with DeAngelo Williams, who I think at the end of round 2 is just supreme value, but I then am left with my choice of Greg Jennings/DeSean Jackson/Marques Colston. I see Jennings as a mid range #1 WR, I think DeSean and Colston are 2s.
When I go ahead and pull the trigger on Peyton Manning and DeAngelo Williams on my turn, I feel like I'm giving up value. With *no* negative points for INTs, I'm almost certainly targeting Cutler in round 8-9...
So this is my question. Do I stand pat at 1? Or do I move down to the 3-4 hole in order to get a little better in round 2.
