I'm focusing on WRs mostly here, but other positions may get discussed...
There's already a thread on Josh Morgan who jumps right to the top of the list for me.
I'm a Virginia Tech fan so I like him a good deal. All the Va Tech WRs are impressing - even Clowney in NY is getting attention.
Two players who are flying below the radar are Justin Harper (Va Tech / Balt. Ravens) and also UNM's Marcus Smith.
Smith looks the part of an NFL WR and has been impressing in camp. If the Ravens do seek out to use 3-WR sets and Dem. Williams is off to a slow start (either because of himself / ability or his injury, or some of both) then either Smith or Harper have a chance to get a little of playing time. Yamon Figurs got a lot of action in preseason Game 1, but he's still likely to be the WR4 to run "GO" routes and focus on KR/PR duties.
Another name to keep an eye on - Jason Carter, WR, Carolina.
Why?
DJ Hackett is hurt again. Steve Smith has a concussion and will be out 2 games. Dwayne Jarrett is, well, Dwayne Jarrett.
The point is that the door is open for a new face to stick in through and make some noise for the Panthers at WR. Carter will be starting tonight (8/14) against Philly in Game 2 of the preseason. If he looks the part, he could see September action and make a name for himself.
Carter has been impressing since OTAs and even though he's down the depth charts - he is starting tonight. Take a look.
