Transferring DVDs to HTPC. Which ripper to use? (1 Viewer)

Thinking about using DVD Ripper Platinum http://www.winxdvd.com/dvd-ripper-platinum which is supposedly one of the best. Cost is $39.95 for lifetime updates.

I know about Handbrake but apparently it doesn't handle copy protection so I would have to use something else for that. I have over 1000 DVDs to transfer so the simplest (and fastest) solution is preferred.

Anyone doing this and if so what are you using?

Handbrake works after using a simple trick involving copying over VLC player file(s). If interested I'll dig up the details.

AnyDVD is fantastic. It has some library that Handbrake recognizes which allows you to use Handbrake as a single step to rip and encode to the level of quality you like.

Before you do that though, try makemkv (makemkv.com). It's free and it works pretty well vs. copy protection.

So what you would do is use makemkv to rip a copy protected disc into a big file or set of files (1.5GB - 4GB) that are uncompressed, then use Handbrake to encode the rip into a single compressed video file with the audio and video quality you want. All free
