Figured I should keep contributing something now that season long rankings are pretty irrelevant after trade deadlines. So thought I'd give some rapid fire thoughts a shot.

Dallas/Detroit
=Thought Dallas did a good job run blocking and maybe abandoned the run a little too quickly. CeeDee Lamb was looking like he was gonna have a 40-point fantasy week before getting hurt, which was a long time coming. Detroit was the first team I saw treat Pickens as the #1 since Lamb was back, and Lamb was reminding people why that isn't a good idea. Flournoy did great filling in, I have no idea why he's not always the #3, too much screwing around with Turpin. Dak was just ok, but in his defense, he had very little time to throw. The Lions were unsurprisingly killing replacement LT Nate Thomas. I'd expect the Vikings to attack the same way if Guyton isn't back next week.

For the Lions, I think Gibbs has been the best RB in the NFL for over a year, I'd argue he was better than Barkley in 2024, he just had less volume. OL played great, Amon-Ra looked healthy. They needed that win, because I think they match up terribly with the Rams.

Miami/NY Jets=Stinks that Achane got banged up, though at least he scored before he did, but it was nice to see Jaylen Wright get some work. I thought he looked good and seems to have passed Ollie Gordon for the #2 role. Waddle probably has a bigger game if Miami needed him to, he was open all the time. Dulcich played over Waller, also wonder if that was a big lead thing, but he's looked good for them. Want to shout out Aaron Brewer who I think is vastly underrated and is a top-5 Center in the NFL. He's small, and has a clear weakness against giant DTs, but no OL gets to the 2nd level better than he does, and so many long runs are because he got to the LBs.

For the Jets, I thought they did a good job pass blocking, that's about the positive for the 2025 Jets offense, they seem to have 2 good long-term OTs. The interior got their butts whipped, and Brady Cook looked a lot like an UDFA. Jags D is gonna be arguably #1 in fantasy if Cook is starting next week.

Cincinnati/Buffalo=One of the biggest surprises to me was the Bengals OL dominated the LoS in this game. Holes were there for the run game, and Burrow had lots of time. Burrow looks completely healthy and had 2 fluke INTs that unfortunately cost them the game, but he was elite otherwise. Tee Higgins had a hell of an effort in this one, making some circus catches. Hopefully he's just in the protocol as a precaution, because the Bengals have a schedule full of shootouts for the fantasy playoffs.

For the Bills, their OL also dominated the LoS, and Josh Allen understood the assignment against the Bengals historically bad TE defense (that is a Likely GL fumble from looking even worse) Allen again dominated with his legs, and in my opinion is the clear best player in the NFL, even if he shouldn't be the MVP.

Pittsburgh/Baltimore=Maybe Broderick Jones was the problem all along. OL played probably their best game of the season, big holes and quality protection. That was Rodgers best game since he was a Packer, and DK was doinf DK things, instead of being miscast as a possession WR. Question is if this was a one-off or the start of something? I'd bet on one-off personally.

For the Ravens, not much to say here. I thought Lamar played well enough to win, but other than Zay Flowers, he wasn't getting any help from his teammates. That's not a one-off, and if the Ravens miss the playoffs, may be the biggest reason why.

Indianapolis/Jacksonville=Loss of Daniel Jones is massive. Colts are 8-5, and with their schedule, might finish 8-9. The OL played really well against the Jags, but it just didn't matter without a QB. I'm a little worried about Jonathan Taylor doing a reverse of last season, where he was a playoff monster after a disappointing regular season.

For the Jags, 1st off, where the hell did that Tim Patrick game come from? Kinda forgot he was even on the roster still. Just needed no Hunter/Washington I guess. While he only had a couple catches, I thought Brian Thomas looked healthy, maybe he'll be a sneaky fantasy playoff factor? Jags OL dominated, which is not a sentence that has been said much in Trevor Lawrence's career. Speaking of Lawrence, I thought he played his best game in years on Sunday. These last 2 weeks are what Lawrence should be in my opinion. A low attempt guy, who takes deep shots, and adds mobility. As long as he avoids turnovers, Jags are a threat.

Tampa Bay/New Orleans=One of the comps I liked for Shough as a prospect was Ryan Tannehill, and that was a very Tannehill game. Efficient, makes plays with his legs, finds open guys on 3rd down. Starting to wonder if he's the 2026 starter as other than that rough Falcons game, he's been good since he took over, and has beaten both Tampa and Carolina. Want to point out, Kelvin Banks has looked like a hit as well.

For the Bucs, this was probably Mayfield's worst game in Tampa. It didn't help that guys like Egbuka and Tez were dropping balls, but he just played awful. Bucs were very run heavy in his one, and honestly, probably should have been even heavier. YPC doesn't show it, but Bucky has looked just fine to me. Assuming Wirfs is back, I'd expect at least a top-10 fantasy RB in the fantasy playoffs, with top-5 upside, if Baker turns it around, Mike Evans can only help.

Seattle/Atlanta=Nice bounce back for Darnold, and good to see Shaheed involved (I think he's a key for their playoff run) and JSN did JSN things. Really weird to me that he hasn't earned frequent double teams in the redzone. Darnold pretty much throws it to him if he's 1-1 every time. I'd be trying to make Seattle beat me with someone else. I thought the OL opened holes pretty well, the YPC I think is hurt by so much of the 4th quarter being garbage time.

For the Falcons, the OL played really well I thought, but without London, there just isn't enough weapons for the offense to do much against a really good defense. I mean, the #2 WR is David Sills, who is a practice squad type.

Washington/Minnesota=I argued before the game that the difference between Daniels/Mariota was smaller than the difference between McCarthy/Brosmer, well McCarthy held up his end of that comparison (and it was really just me saying how awful Brosmer was) I thought this a Brian Flores masterclass, just being 2 steps ahead of Kingsbury at all times. I thought the Commanders OL played well, but the skill guys were outclassed, and both Daniels and Mariota weren't seeing the field well. Ertz injury really sucks, have to wonder if that might be a career for him with an ACL tear at 35.

For the Vikings, I've always thought highly of Josh Oliver, and think he should really be a full-time starter. He's an elite blocker with good hands, and decent enough speed. I think he's a better TE than Hockenson (who could be a trade candidate this offseason) at this point. OL was finally healthy with the original 5 starters, and it showed, they played great. McCarthy clearly has a better rapport with Addison than Jefferson, and that's a particularly bad problem that Jefferson had 2-11 with good QB play.

Tennessee/Cleveland=Titans OL opened huge holes, and Pollard ran through them, while constantly making guys miss. Browns D laid a huge egg in this one. 1 sack was pathetic. Browns D is so hit/miss, sometimes they look elite, but this is like the 3rd massive egg they've laid this season. I put that on Jim Schwartz, who I think is kind of a bad DC, who just happens to have great talent (including the DPOY) to work with. Credit to Cam Ward for avoiding mistakes with so little to work with weapons wise.

For the Browns, I thought Shedeur played well. Probably the best QB performance for the Browns since Winston in 2024. Harold Fannin is a star. My pre-draft comp for him was Jordan Reed, and that's what he's looked a lot like to me. Hopefully he stays healthier. Was this a one-off for Sanders? Time will tell, but he showed that he doesn't need to be hidden like Gabriel did.

Denver/Las Vegas=Man, Troy Franklin has been a real rollercoaster. He's looked like their best WR at times, and other times, you wonder why he's even on the field. This was a latter game, and they cut his snaps quickly. OL unsurprisingly dominated the Raiders 1-man front 7. Sutton and Harvey both just missed much bigger games.

For the Raiders, I don't understand the Chip Kelly firing, followed by just doing what Kelly was doing. Still abandoning the run, way too quickly, and leaving the QB out to dry to get sacked in pointlessly pass heavy gameplans. The OL could maybe run block against Denver, but there was no chance they'd be able to pass block.

Chicago/Green Bay=What a game this was. Probably the best of the week. As a Bears fan, I'm honestly happy with it, this could have gone either way, and I was expecting worse, especially with no Odunze. I thought the Bears OL did a great job. This run game would be scary with a good RB, I think Swift/Monangai are doing fine but easily upgraded from, the OL is what's doing it. Luther Burden is really coming on, he's looking like a steal, and might honestly be better than Odunze long-term, and be their best player from this class.

For the Packers, I mean, this was impressive. Josh Jacobs you expect, but how is Christian Watson better post-ACL tear? That extension they gave him while he was rehabbing, looks brilliant right now. Jordan Love is on fire (other than the Viking game where they didn't ask him to do anything) this last month. Love doesn't have the raw stats for it, but he's honestly an MVP candidate if he keeps this up.

LA Rams/Arizona=This was honestly more lopsided than the score. Rams could have scored 60 if they'd wanted to. Not too much to say really for LA. This was maybe the best game I've ever seen from Puka. He could have had 300 receiving yards if the Rams had kept passing. This Rams team has no weaknesses. Stafford is my MVP pick, the OL and run game are both clicking regardless of who is getting the ball.

For the Cards, I think this season was done when James Conner went down. He was really the heart and soul of this offense. Michael Wilson continued to look great with no Marvin Harrison. Weird how they can't figure out a way for them to successfully co-exist. I'm fully expecting a complete front office overhaul from Arizona this offseason (should have been Petzing last offseason) but has Brissett shown enough to be a bridge QB? I'm expecting Kyler to be cut, and I think he'll be given a starting job with no shortage of HCs who think they can salvage him.

Houston/Kansas City=I think Andy Reid lost this game. KC outplayed Houston, but just poor game management did them in. KC's DL dominated the LoS, and only Nico Collins really did much of anything for the Texans.

For the Chiefs, I thought they abandoned the run game too quickly. They weren't hitting big plays or anything, but they were grinding out some yards. Probably could have done with involving Xavier Worthy more too, especially with Kelce having stone hands for this one. KC still has a chance to make the playoffs, but they need Indy to collapse (likely) and probably the Chargers to lose out (not impossible, given their schedule, but unlikely)

Philadelphia/LA Chargers=Jalen Hurts was awful in this one. Didn't help that the running game was non-existent beyond Barkley's "trick play" TD. For whatever reason Hurts didn't wanna feed Goedert who was open all game. Eagles should have won this game.

Great toughness from Justin Herbert, but honestly, he played poorly too. I felt like he ran into defenders too often, leaving his clean pockets, and creating pressure. Herbert had 79 yards on 25 attempts, not counting the Vidal 60-yard catch and run. His runs were big though. Chargers RBs looks pretty split to me, Vidal has earned a split, which with the NFL's worst OL is probably keeping either from being top-20 RBs. Last 3 weeks, Gadsden has 4 catches, Johnston has 5, McConkey has 8, and Allen has 11. This was a big win for the Chargers, I worry they could go on a 4-game losing streak with 3 road games against KC/Dal/Den and a home game against Houston. All of those teams are really gonna put the Chargers OL to the test, and likely aren't gonna have QBs turning it over 5 times.

For the Ravens, not much to say here. I thought Lamar played well enough to win, but other than Zay Flowers, he wasn't getting any help from his teammates.
He wasn't getting any help from the Refs either. That call on the Likely TD was terrible. It should have been the same as Hurts INT/Fumble and Rodgers reception.

Glad you did this, I fired one up a few weeks ago, seemed to have decent traction, great idea if you watch a lot of football on Sunday

-I'm learning as this group ages in the Shark Pool, lot of people have bigger families and extended families now, they just don't have time to watch more than 1-2 games start to finish
These folks can't be watching all the games and are basing a lot of their opinions on viewpoints based on box scores, media hype and of course other Sharks that are watching and sometimes reporting in the weekly game threads.

-I think it's important to read or communicate with folks that are actually watching the game. Some things matter and impact why certain players are performing or not performing
Sometimes it's the Head Coach and that guy isn't likely to change mid season or early season if you can figure it out right away, maybe you're better off with few to none on those offenses
There is so much to learn by reading folks that are printing actual observations from the game and not just a quick summary or box score, doesn't always tell the story

Good thread Trav, thanks for firing this up

Aaron Brewer, the Center you mention for the Miami Dolphins, yes he's ranked in the Top 10 in 2024 and again in 2025, there's a reason Achane does well
I also think Patrick paul, the left tackle who has a left handed QB so he plays the position a bit more like a traditional right tackle, he's a road grader.
IMO the Dolphins have a pretty good Center in Brewer however he is not good on 3rd and 1/4th and 1, he's like 285 and on the shorter side, he can get manhandled
Where Brewer does well is when he is asked to move, he's very fast for a Center and it helps him with leverage and just plain getting in the way
When you have Achane, you don't need to hold your block, you just need to make a crease and Achance can exploit the rest.

Miami has a rookie LG that has been ranked at the bottom all year, I think he'll tet a lot better next season, I don't think Savii is as bad as the ranking on PFF
Miami needs a RG and RT, Tua's blind side, nice how the front office and the team have prioritized Tua's blind side, they really have served Tua well on this journey
Brewer is a good overall Center, his limitations come up more in short yardage situations and I believe @Bri has posted about Brewer before
I don't mean to put him on the spot but his analysis on almost any player that has suited up for the Titans is excellent

I saw some OL gurus praising him this week.

Big names were called out last year and this summer by other big names and idk what the big question is.

The Dolphins played him at G and switched to C and we're going to identical to Titans switch him back to G.
Then their coach got frisky because that's what he does. He about committed to Brewer and the athletic but too small center has played like an athletic but too small center.

Kudos to McDaniel. I like his offense usually (sometimes it's dopey plays but I think it's smooth and unique) and he got another component in Brewer.

But Tua had 7000 concussions and was to retire maybe and then wasn't and...you can put a too small C to pass block for him.

Brewer looks great sometimes pulling and the guy is hauling and smash.
Pass blocking for a center is mano y mano and the key cog that if he breaks down they all do.

I've seen Brewer get 89 run block grades. Last I looked he was 58 in pass block.

Prior paragraph every OL will tell you it's brutal if the C fails. PFF can't score a C allowing a sack or pressure and we react as if it's a T doing so. If the NT gets past Brewer, the G could pick up the NT and lose against his guy and dominoes.

Brewer is perfect technique hustler yes coach guy but 285? against 350 is absurd. Tvondre Sweat would be a nightmare for the Fins.

But they can double and do this n that. Ok then what would they be doing if they weren't having to help Brewer.

Sooo he's still a much improved run blocker but geesh at pass blocking. I know some weeks he's near the top with a 70 grade. That's a 70. It's not elite.

McDaniel needs Leupke or some decently fast H-back and a full size center. He got a little too creative.

I'd sub like you suggest. Pull Brewer every third down. McDaniel is creative so knowing it's a run isn't too too predictable.

There's been some bad Cs.
Idk that he was top ten either year. People are raving about him now but I gotta go with your sub theory.

I doubt he's 295. He doesn't look it.
