The bolded, at this point, is almost a given. Richardson is healthy going into this season, has had a full offseason of decent health (save for the blip of the calf) and should have a much better year. The two are very close - but I still prefer Richardson.I have Trent ranked ahead of Martin. I think the Cleveland O takes a step forward this season. Trent proved last year that he is a good RB. His numbers will improve this year.
The manufactured consensus seems to be more based on last years performance.trent under norv or doug still the better pick here?
agreed picking from the 2 hole this week, wish i was later on, granted im in charge and get to pick rather then letting the draft come to me.. but if i was 7 or 8 I could get T-Rich and graham (maybe) or some sort of combo...I go (and went) Martin every time.
Though at times I wish I had a later pick where I could sneak Richardson in while getting that much more 2nd round action
Exactly. I had the 2 and two 4's, got Martin with every one. Would have loved a 7-8 with Richardson though. I think there's more value in that than Martin at 2, and I would then probably, personally, target an elite top-4 WR in the second (dream pick - Dez).agreed picking from the 2 hole this week, wish i was later on, granted im in charge and get to pick rather then letting the draft come to me.. but if i was 7 or 8 I could get T-Rich and graham (maybe) or some sort of combo...I go (and went) Martin every time.

I feel like trent has the higher ceiling then martin.. but martin just seems to be safer... throw in mccoy and charles and there is all kinds of not surenessExactly. Good postAgreed I lean martin more so because his 6 division games are an easier go around then t rich also.. plus a better o line ..LarryAllen said:I think both have the ability to be top-5 FF RBs for the next 5 years. Think Shaun Alexander and LT from around 02-08.
Long term I think Richardson has ADP, LT... upside but for this year, I'd take Martin. I think they'll both be good, but I see more struggles for the Browns O, which means tougher sledding for Trent and more risk to get banged up.
Good to read stuff like this and realize just how wrong I can be.Richardson is a slam dunk talent and will compete for the top RB honor most years of his career barring major injury problems. After watching some game film on Martin, I am a little dubious about his ability to beat out LaGarette Blount in camp. After asking what to watch for on film on the Audible, what I came away with is watch a guy's feet and how many steps he takes per yard. Also how many steps it takes a guy to change direction and get back to full speed. He did not impress me in that area in the bowl game against Arizona State. However I am beginning to think that as long as a running back can do the basics and has decent speed and a decent ability to absorb contact, they can be a successful RB2. That's what I think Martin's long term prospects are. Therefore I think the gulf between him and Richardson will become something like the gulf between Adrian Peterson and someone like BJGE.I think it is debatable. LeSean McCoy and Ray Rice aren't as talented as Adrian Peterson, but both are basically as valuable as Peterson in fantasy footall, even if he wasn't injured.Trent now, Trent later, Trent forever. Not even debatable.
He also passes the the rb quite a bit.Beerguzzler said:Norv isn't the RB guru people think he is. He'd much rather pass the ball.
