Trevor Hoffman (1 Viewer)

I was there. Hell of a game. Macha gets thrown out in the 2nd, some guy in the Cardinals clubhouse gets thrown out in the 3rd, Brewers CF gets thrown out in the 5th, a fan gets thrown out in the 7th or so, Axford gets Pujois and Holliday out in the 8th to hold the 2-run lead into the 9th.

Not to mention the few calls the umps made that were awful. Taking the run away from the Brewers in the 1st or 2nd on a play where the run was going to score anyway, then calling Hart out at first when he looked safe (sitting field level 3rd base) than a few others.

Crazy game but great ending.

Great!

A guy with a 6.23 ERA getting another overrated stat to add to one of the most overrated stats.

Awesome!

The plays you questioned were correct. On runners interference the play is dead and runners return to the last base. Hart was tagged on the helmet by Pujols and was clearly out.Congrats to Hoffman. It took Macha getting thrown out of a game to get him the save but good for him.

I really don't understand this thinking. Are saves stupid and overrated? Of course. But Hoffman's been a great pitcher for most of his career and it was a really cool baseball moment watching him get the 600th save. If you didn't like that - what do you really like about baseball?
